The ARG game is coming to an end. Does anyone know the final answer? I don't want to get it wrong in case there's a prize for Home or something.
Edit: Nvm found it. Greg Corgan You get a trailer to download but I've seen it before. It's the one that starts off with text saying it's using real time footage. It says we're going to get an email with a prize. I'm hoping it's the Home t-shirt Europeans got.

I feel like I'm fucking hanging out in a shady hotel (like St Marks Place in NyC!) Noir "Se7en" as an old, fat Humphrey Bogart. I'm just saying, the atmosphere is top notch. Really can't wait to see all the environments they've put in. This is what happens when big budget money is put into the Adventure genre. Yes, I know Cage said he doesn't consider this "adventure". Not sure how...
I LOVE YOU HR. |

I played the demo, and I am SO, SO psyched for this game it gives you a deep story... Even if it is one giant Quicktime event, it is awesome. However, the thread title doesn't do it justice, I propose a title change:

just got a ps3 yesterday and played part of the demo today. Got through the fight scene, that was pretty cool, but couldn't get fully immersed since I had to keep looking down at the controller to see which button was which :)
also, for some reason had a hard time with the first part where you had to move the controller up and down. |

Just finished the demo and loved it to bits. The controls didn't bother me a bit after the first 5 minutes, although might be more problematic if things ram up later on. Honestly I just can't wait to play the full thing.
Edit: Oh yeah the fight scene was great. I am just surprised how well the old pudgy detective can dodge those punches. |

Color me impressed. I played the game twice and was pleasantly surprised when making different choices truly had different effects. Also the controls take some getting use to but after awhile its second nature. I found myself more immersed in the story than the visuals which surprised me. Looks like a true winner.

I really liked the demo I played earlier, it's just the moving method seemed... odd. It was hard to get used to and even after playing through the full demo I still didn't feel fully comfortable with the movement. The way the game is set up and everything else about it was ace though. It seems like a very, very interesting game and I could see myself picking it up eventually. I don't think I'll day 1 since I'm playing two other games right now (Darksiders and Bioshock 2 come Sunday) and FF13 comes out in a few weeks, but maybe after that. And the graphics... my god... the graphics. I was stunned watching this game in motion.

Finally played the demo last night. I avoided pretty much all trailers or any other footage so far. It took me a moment to get used to the whole "walk where your head is pointing" thing. I was impressed by the presentation, the smooth flow of interaction and story telling. There wasn't much that really bothered me. Can't wait to experience the full game.

Just played the demo and I really like it. Everything was very immersive and the QTEs felt natural most of the time. The fight scene was extremely tense - definitely sold me on how well directed the game will be.
The only thing I don't like are the glasses you wear to investigate a crime scene. Feels too "gamey" in an experience that tries to ground itself in reality. I'm assuming it's set in the near future, but still. Definite buy. |

Once the decision is made to add something like that in, most creators just pile it on. Stephen King novels give me this vibe sometimes. Everything in a book might be grounded in the real world. He drops in one imaginary thing and we see how it affects the world we know. A car that is alive, a kid with visions, etc. |

Voice acting wasn't so hot and the movement controls were awful, but the story and atmosphere may have sold me. This is definitely a great revamp of the point and click genre, albeit for consoles.
PS Quantic Dream: The climbing up the hill by the train tracks was unbelievably annoying. I don't want to play finger twister. I think I fell down the hill like 7 times before fully 'getting it'. |

I was super cautious because I noticed that train comes by periodically, and the tracks are right at the bottom of the hill. You would land on the tracks if you F'd up, so it may be an instance where you could prematurely permadeath a character. Coming down felt like running down a hill too. You are just on the verge of losing control, but you hit a plateau every now and then to giver yourself a breather. I was having, "Oh shit, here we go" moment when I would eventually initiate the guy running down the next bit of hill. I think if the rest of the game is as successful as that hill sequence, this game might be mind-blowing for me

I played the demo last night (on a friend's PS3 for those of you keeping track) and I've got to say I loved it. It was an evolution of Fahrenheit in HD and I loved Fahrenheit.
It looked amazing, the animation was top notch and while the controls were a little weird at first, it works well once you work out what's happening. I felt the first sections of the demo worked better though, with the fixed place cameras. Controlling the FBI guy was more awkward even though it was a nice open environment he was walking around. This is a Fahrenheit fan's greatest dream come true. I really, really hope it sells well. I wonder if the game was more on rails in earlier incarnations, but to appeal to gamers they gave us more freedom of movement. I really wasn't expecting to have as much control as I did. |

While I can't wait for this game and have it pre-ordered, I was a bit disappointed with the demo...
I guess it's the lack of player freedom I was annoyed with which was something I thought wouldn't be an issue. Examples: When I was in that one women's room, I couldn't interact with anything except a damn curtain which seemingly did nothing. I was hoping I could search around her room and find someting that would spark a reaction from the lady. And what about that hill by the train tracks... is there a consequence for slipping down each slope? I fell down every time on my way down and there seemed to be nothing to show for it. I guess I was a little spoiled by what I expected out of the game. If the agent's glasses or gloves got dirty and deactivated the devices for a brief period would have been enough to keep me immersed in the world. |

Just played the demo and enjoyed it. I really like QTEs that offer branching paths so you don't feel bad if you fail any one segment. I actually really liked climbing up the hill and then going back down again. It seemed to mimic actual motions quite well.
Hopefully the story holds up. I wasn't too bothered by the voice acting as it is still on par with many games. Top tier acting would have been great, but if the story is well designed then I don't think I will have too many issues. |

Gaming needs more crime stories in general.
The only ones even attempting to do this in the last decade - off the top of my head - are licensed tripe (the CSI games) and mediocre PC Adventure games (the Agatha Christie series in particular). |

Voice acting is a bit off. Wish they would have splurged a little more for some pros. Other than that, the first act of the demo with the old PI was top notch. It was a bit much, with having to do like 8 different motions just to get him to use his inhaler. Other than that it was good. Felt like a next gen progression of the adventure game genre. Didn't care much for the 2nd act. The Ari glasses were corny and it felt like a random easter egg hunt.

I don't want to sound like an unprincipled hypocrite, but really feel like I have to support and laud Quantic Dream for pitching and Sony for greenlighting this.
Shit like this is enriching the gaming landscape. |

Had a blast with the demo, I think it sold me on the game.
I don't know if it was universal, but I definitely ran into some gamma issues. I played through the full first part and into the second part before I got a little suspicious (Why is it pitch black out at 8:03 A.M?) and checked out the options for the gamma tuner. Then when I got it set "correctly" everything just seemed a little washed out. :( |

Played the demo.
Great graphics. Terrible everything else. A button to walk? Really? When you still need the analog stick to steer? And then all the "omg realistic game" is thrown out of the window when the FBI agent starts wearing his cyber glasses. It's a really annoying game. It's like having to turn a crank to watch a movie. And this somehow manages to make QTEs more annoying than they normally are. Pressing three buttons at the same time is silly, and people here are saying that figure just goes up? |
