What's disturbing is how many people rely on just mashing words into google and then smashing enter without even checking where they're going. I used to wonder how phishing sites found people so dense, but we're now at a point where a lot of people using computers really don't know the absolute basics about them.

At work I see plenty of computers where the address bar on internet explorer is missing. I ask these people how do you go to different websites. They say "google". So this is not at all surprising.

My users love to install the Yahoo Toolbar and use the built in search to search for Yahoo, seriously, click on Yahoo after the results come up and then search the main Yahoo page for whatever they are looking for. Usually coupons or American flag screensavers.

I work in tech support and this is a sad truth. Lots of people, even relatively young folks who seem to be in their 20's or 30's, type the address in some Google or other search bar and never go to the intended sites. They just click on the first result which isn't always right.

My work involves calls with DOCTORS and I still get people who don't use the address bar to type in URLs. They google the goddamn URL instead.
