My main concerns are initial cost to the consumer (which will most likely decide whether this is a success or not) and the ability to turn off the 3D effect so that developers don't have to use it, otherwise we might see lots of software droughts as they try to learn how to develop 3D games.

That it's backwards compatible. You'll be able to play other DS series games, including DSi games, so it might even have the camera.

This sounds really good, and TBH it's not unexpected considering all the rumours for the last few years about Nintendo fiddling around with 3D displays. If they launch with the new Pokemon game, and it sounds like they will, this is going to be an absolute monster. Those rumours that Nintendo's E3 would be twice as big as the last two sound pretty accurate now.

I'll be very interested to see what they do with region-locking after the DSi as well. Does anyone think they'll go back to region free carts?

Hmm, if you were to combine the face tracking of the DSi camera with the motion sensors of the Wii Remote or Motion Plus, you should be able to track where the screen is in relation to the user's face, making it simple enough to do a window style 3D where the screens appear to be windows, as the image changes as you move your head around.
