How did SSF4 do compare to vanilla 4?
edit: [PS3] Street Fighter IV (Capcom) 86,000 / NEW [360] Street Fighter IV (Capcom) 38,000 / NEW vs. [PS3] Super Street Fighter 4 (Capcom) - 81.000 / NEW [360] Super Street Fighter 4 (Capcom) - 28.000 / NEW Pretty damn good I'd say. Hopefully something similar everywhere else in the world.

I think that Konami might be a little bit disappointed by Peace Walker performance.
PSP is way more successful than the PS3 was in mid 2008 when MGS4 came out ( 2m installed base?:lol) and yet the game failed to beat MGS4 opening week. Not that PW has done bad numbers but the whole purpose was to try to make money with the PSP in Japan like Capcom has done with Monster Hunter franchise otherwise I don't think that Kojima would have bothered so much with the platform in first place. And in this case Japan will be the biggest market for the game so I really doubt that PW will sell the 4-5m units that MGS4 has sold WW, maybe 2m. So I get the impression that it would have been better for Konami and Kojima to stick on to the PS3 which is a healthy platform in the western markets unlike the PSP. |

Its weird to see NieR Replicant and SSF4 both at 81,000.

I think that Peace Walker is getting good word of mouth, at least.

I think Peace Walker could have longer legs than MGS 4 due to being on the PSP, which is a system with a lot more vitality in Japan than the PS3 / Wii (I think!)
I hope I am right. I know there's other games in the franchise on the system, but I think this is the first full blown Metal Gear Solid on a portable, isn't it? Anyway, good first week for DQMJ2 and MGS PW. Mario Kart Wii @ top 10 = :lol :lol :lol |

Hopefully the fanbase is similarly enthusiastic about all the multiplayer in Peace Walker. I guess the big (and sad) distinction is that Portable Ops actually had infrastructure mode while Peace Walker doesn't. I know Japan is big on local play, but not having infrastructure could hurt the longevity of the multiplayer. While MGS in Japan is popular, it's no Monster Hunter.
