"Dolphin is an emulator for two recent Nintendo video game consoles: the GameCube and the Wii. It allows PC gamers to enjoy games
for these two consoles in full HD (1080p) with several enhancements: compatibility with all PC controllers, turbo speed, networked
multiplayer, and even more!" - The Dolphin Devs

  1. A Dolphin Build: daily updated Dolphin builds website.
  2. A Computer: dual core clocked at 3+ ghz, 4+ gigabytes of ram, and a modern videocard.
  3. A Wii: read this page to learn how to rip your games on your Wii.
  4. Xbox 360 controller (Recommended): works great with the emulator as a GC pad replacement.
  5. Wiimote (Recommended): many games require motions that cannot be mapped easily to another controller format.
  6. Motion+ (Recommended): a real Motion+ attachment is required for Motion+ games such as Skyward Sword.
  7. Bluetooth Adaptor (Required for Wiimote): view this list to find one compatible with the Wiimote so that it can sync to your PC.
  8. Wireless Sensor Bar (Recommended for Wiimote): so you don't have to use the one attached to your Wii.
  9. Dolphin Bar (Recommended): a popular two-in-one Sensor Bar/Bluetooth device that's quite cheap.

  3. Front Ends: boot directly into games from Steam. Dolphin specific stuff here.

This thread is an awesome idea. It'll be good to have it when i get a PC that can run dolphin to an acceptable extent! :D

Edit: And yes, the OP is very, very pretty :lol

GREAT THREAD.

I'm going to need this when I finally get around to upgrading my system this year. ..probably this year.

Chiming in with fucking awesome OP, I've been messing around with Star Fox: Assault and F-Zero a lot recently so I'll come back with some input soon.

Nice topic! Just a heads up, if you are on Windows 7 and if your bluetooth adaptor is supported by the default MS bluetooth stack, you don't have to buy Blue Sollei since it will work fine. Also, using the "DSPLLE on threads" will only work if you are using the LLE plugin , it will not work if you are using the HLE sound plugin.

Now its time to delete about 150gigs of porn off my computer, defrag, and get this up and running.

Getting a new vid card soon, does it still prefer nvidia over ATI? Or is the difference barely noticable with the high end cards?

When I saw this thread title, I thought "uh, we already have a Dolphin thread". But just TWO SECONDS after clicking in, its already abundantly clear that this is the most in-depth how-to on Dolphin anywhere on the entire Internet. There's more raw info here all in one easy to understand posting than anything I've ever seen.

I applaud you sir, thanks for doing this write up.

Thanks, I fixed up the DSPLLE on Threads. I'll add a bit about the Microsoft Bluetooth stack in a bit because I believe the supported BT adapters page does say if they work with that.

Makes no/little difference, OP is using a 4800-series card as you can see from the screens, that is probably even overkill, depending on how much AA you need.

All the OP lacks is a super-sharp high-res real-life picture of the emulator being output in 1080p to a nice HDTV, really showing up a traditional Nintendo Wii! Good job :)

One small problem I've noticed when playing Wind Waker is that if I have "Enable XFB" turned on, then I start to get micro-stuttering, pretty noticeable when moving. So I generally leave that turned off.

This made me try WW again and while it looks great..

:( between that an 28 when outdoors, what really makes it unplayable its the slowdown of the music, any way to keep the music at its normal pace ? ..or get better fps ?

Fitz

Well, the music slowdown is based on game speed, which is based on the fps your running at, so you'd need to get the fps up.

I need a break from Wind Waker and I just watched Resident Evil: Degeneration, so I pretty much had to just start another playthrough of RE4. I swear I will get to REmake after these two games.

Can someone post shots of HotD Overkill?

Also how good is the SMG emulation? I remember watching a weeeeeeeeeeeiiiird vid a while back where it was emulated...

Are there any DVD drives that work for ripping that are actually for sale on newegg? It seems like all the working models listed are old.

I've been tempted to do this, but I have no desire to install homebrew on my Wii. Just not worth the hassle since I have an HTPC and it does everything better than my Wii. Also have another 9 months on the warranty and don't feel like voiding it (even if the odds are small).

HOLY SHIT AWESOME THREAD

I will need to jump back into Dolphin for the third time now. I think I need more power though, my CPU is only a 3.7GHz dual core. Then again I was testing it with Wind Waker, which is quite high intensity.

Music stops and the framerate dips to 30ish on some areas, quite annoying actually.

Did you actually get through it? I couldn't stop laughing and/or shaking my head at it :\ I skimmed through it, but I was really disappointed with it.

Or maybe I'll just stick to Wii. I wasn't interested before because I thought it needed quad core. I can probably overclock my dual core close to 4 Ghz, but if 3.7 isn't manly enough, maybe I'll just wait.:lol

If I'm not wrong, no current CPU can run this game at full speed/1080p.
