Galaxy 2 came out in Japan today.

Its launch was very much a non-event though. There are no signs of shortages whatsoever.

In retrospect this makes sense actually.

They thought combining Lost Planet with Monster Hunter would make the game a lot more appealing in the West, but in reality, it made it a lot less appealing in the West (known bomba in UK, also not cracking Top 20 Live Activity charts) and a lot more appealing in Japan.

I feel its endemic of Capcom's inability to understand the Western market lately.

I think the concept is sound, but the execution is lacking.
Not having drop in/drop out is horrible by western standards, and there are just a bunch of very anti-west design decisions in the game.

Well, I'm not expecting it to set the charts on fire, but I at least hope it stays at near-Galaxy numbers in the long run.

Since the old thread will be ignored, I'll just take the freedom to repost my question in here:

I've read through Anoop's Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Preview today and as I'm a little late on this I don't know if this has been asked yet:

I've read several times that people here expect Capcom to follow MHTri with MH3G but now that MHP3rd has been shown to be something new rather than an update of Tri what do you expect MH3G to be like? Simple update to Tri like MHG was to MH1, adaption of MHP3rd or something completely different?

Oh who am I kidding, it'll be ignored again

Freedom 3 is a different path that looks based off of feedback from Tri. Return of old monsters, all weapons restored, underwater content truncated, Felyne presence reinstated and expanded, etc plus it seems to have a whole bunch of new stuff.

I don't think anyone is ignoring you, it's just that it's a niche series here and it's had a bouncy development history platform wise.

Any thing anyone will tell you currently is a guess. Personally, I don't think they're going to pick now to split development and content paths like that, and I think the infrastructure being added to PSP just looms of that.

Could easily be wrong, and even with guessing there's 3DS which can (likely) now support a Monster Hunter game and probably PSP2 on the horizon too.

PS3 Will most certainly be getting a boost, it's not due to lost planet 2 though(if anything due to the bundle, lost planet 2 will help out x-box HW sales more)

Always wondered how well a "played on a 2D plane like Klonoa" Super Mario would do in Japan.

Spirit Tracks comes to the end of the tracks in the Top 30. For shame. :o(

I'm not sure I completely understand. So you think that if there's a MH3G for Wii (which I expect with Capcom having built a perfectly competent engine and past practices), it's going to be based on MHP3rd, which seems to be the general direction the franchise is headed?
