But if I'm not mistaken Galaxy 1 had a rebirth of some sort due to new marketing during the holiday rush and pushed it to ~1 million. I don't see this happening with Galaxy 2.

Yeah if I remember correctly(I'm sure we'll get those numbers posted soon), after Galaxy dropped down to 20-30k~ the holidays started and pushed it back up to 100k. I don't see that happening for Galaxy 2 either, but we never know which kinda legs it'll have compared to the original, perhaps the many more Mario players will boost the legs slightly more.

Well, I'd hold off on celebrating until we see how it performs in the next week or two. There's still a reasonable chance that we're going to see a bigger opening week and first month, but a faster collapse after that and the game could still end up under SMG's LTD by a fair bit.

I'm hopeful that this won't be the case, but I don't think it's unprecedented for a sequel to open better and still end up below its predecessor's LTD.

This drops two "very"s from my post last thread, but this is still a disappointing drop for SMG2.

Numerically, it almost exactly matches Sunshine's second week, but dropping from a higher point. Sunshine hung around the Top 30 until November selling ~260K after its second week before dropping off the Top 30. Galaxy hung around the Top 30 until February selling ~540K after its second week before dropping off the Top 30.

Time for crazy-too-far extrapolation. :)

SMG started its holiday bounce on its sixth week. No reason to believe SMG2 will have the same, but if it continues the percentage increase from the first two weeks through week five, it would be at 600K by then.

Since we can't count on a Galaxy comparison past that point, maybe we move to Sunshine. After week five Sunshine gained an additional 50% before we stopped hearing about it. If Galaxy 2 did the same, that would put it around 900K.
