Wii Party still kicking ass. Hopefully this'll mean NdCube will get the chance to do something more hardcore, since they're headed by the former Quest CEO.

Galaxy 2 is either getting a bump from the upcoming holidays already, or there is some sort of new ad campaign for it. Anyone from J-GAF notice anything?

Well, they're still showing the commercials, but they're the same ones. Could be because the kids started summer vacation last week?

Niinou has cemented his position in Image Epoch as the MVP in the company. The 3 games he has his name on either as director or producer, are also the 3 biggest titles the developer has put out so far. It seems likely that they will also be the only 3 games from the developer which surpasses 100k in lifetime sales.

Oh yeah I definitely think SMG2 will reach 1mil by years end. With the holiday rush still to come and potentially more people buying the game along with the system...I see it happening.

what!? Do Japanese schools go year-round? There used to be some schools like that here in Texas but not many exist anymore. They did have a shit ton of breaks throughout the year though so we all still spent the same ammount of time in school

I am not good at making sales analysis like some here but is Wii party doing well enough?

Wii series are supposed to well "millions", I have doubts this will get past 800k. It seems to me like Wii Music all over.

Wii Music is a whole different story since it was a holiday season title in 2008 and sales went down very quickly. Wii Party on the other end was released in the middle of the year and seems to have some steady decent sales and most likely will get a holiday season push later this year. Over one million LTD and 800k by the end of the year is more than likely in my opinion.

The Japanese school year is pretty much year round. They get about six weeks off in the summer (but most of them attend cram school during at least part of that time) and a week off in the winter for New Year's holidays, and that's about it. They sometimes might get a week or two before the new school year begins in April, but not usually.

Many of them also attend classes six days per week, though usually Saturdays are kind of a fun day with mostly PE and club-related activities.

Holy crap. How can people over there sustain such pressures? I mean: I had 5 days per week school, 1 week off in November, 2 weeks off for Christmas, 1 week off in March, 10 days off for Easter and 10 weeks off in Summer.

yeah, it seems I am out of touch with MC info.

It's just, I don't know, I thought it would sell faster. I do know that these titles sell on the long run so we'll see how it fares in the next months.

Do you guys have some kind of LTD prediction for Wii party based on the 4 weeks it has been tracked?

Maybe this rhythm has the big advantage to prepare student to face up universities as difficult as the one in Tokyo, for example.

I remember that when I went from high school to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology studying Chemistry, I was traumatized. The first year, I could sleep only 4-5 hours per night.

PS3 Pawapuro 77% drop is way too steep, it was expected for the PSP version to have better legs, but 77% can't be just that, any reports it was sold out last week?

Interesting non-drop for Inazuma 3 and Galaxy 2 bump. Image Epoch-wise, not bad drop for Last Ranker (kinda like the start, its not good but its not as bad as I thought it was going to be) and good Fate start, Marvelous catches a break between it and HM.

Yeah, after an 81% drop in its second week, followed by a 53% drop, with a shipment of 1 million, I have to think that Inazuma Eleven stabilized due to a price collapse.
Can anyone confirm this?

It just seems weird to me, but I guess the smaller absolute number would allow for a natural stand.
But still, with that big shipment, I've gotta wonder.

I don't think the shipment size has any real impact on consumer habits at all. Most of the people buying any game know nothing about the shipment volume or anything like that. Retailers only panic with price drops when they feel they have something heavily stocked which is not moving. If it is moving at a steady rate similar to previous experiences with the franchise, there is no reason why a retailer would drop the price.

After 3 weeks:
Code:
Wii Sports Resort	103,000	/	617,000
Wii Fit Plus 118,000	/	610,000
Wii Fit 124,000	/	535,000
Mario Party 8 104,000	/	504,000

Wii Party 99,000	/ 446,000 <----

Wii Sports 70,000	/	318,000
It is barely doing worse than other Wii titles; it also should benefit from the upcoming holiday. Nothing to "worry" about yet.

Wii Party is most definitely going to surpass 1 Million units. It'll be one of the secondary sellers during the winter holiday, perhaps behind whatever Nintendo plans on making the big Wii holiday title (Super Donkey Kong Returns?).

Possibly Zelda, given that it is now "TBA" for Japan (but still "2011" for everywhere else) or Kirby, I would think.

Consering the price it should be doing better though. Most of the other games on your list retailed at higher prices, with bundled peripherals.

It'll probably do near a mil regardless.

...except that Wii Party is also being sold as a bundle - the Wii Party + Pink Remote and Wii Party + White Remote bundles.

Do we have a breakdown on the bundle sales after the first day/first week?

It's obviously going to start falling behind sharply, but I still wonder how far it will go when all is said and done...

Well, it made it past the peak of the hump. Should fall behind ~100K over the next two weeks. It'll have to make it to ~1m to not be the worst legs of a 3-D Mario platformer game. Decent shot at it, though.

With the slight chance of a Christmas minibump, it just might make it there. Hopefully the 3DS doesn't spoil the party.

Chris, do you still update the NSMB - NSMBWii table?

If yes, can you post it? Thanks.

Both games took about half a year to reach 4M, but NSMB DS was still posting 20k~ each week, while NSMBW is already posting sub 10k. DS hardware sales versus Wii hardware sales is probably the biggest factor in the games' legs.

Edit: Oops forgot about SMG2, thats probably the bigger factor, going by the odd slide to oblivion after the game released. :lol

It is barely doing worse than other Wii titles; it also should benefit from the upcoming holiday. Nothing to "worry" about yet.
But Wii Party isn't bundled with anything, nope?

Were Mario Party 8, Wii Sports or standalone Wii Fit Plus bundled with anything?

There are 3 versions of Wii Party
standalone
bundle with blue wiimote
bundle with white wiimote

I'm not sure if the 2 bundles are limited editions or in full production.

Wait, there's a third Monster Rancher for DS coming out?

Didn't Cing develop the last one? Did they work on the first, and who's behind the third then?
