As some of you from the UK will know Shopto sometimes sell games that are the European version and not always UK. Will this European version work with DLC bought from the UK store?

Also, is there a chance that the game might arrive with a foreign box art and manual?

Probably two really dumb questions. :(

Burnout paradise dlc question.

I recently bought the game once again downloaded some of dlc I had previously deleted. I started the game up and a message popped up which said, dlc is damaged and can't be used.

My game save is fine, but none of dlc cars or the island work.

The dlc was originally purchased on an older console then moved to another. I am now on my third console. Is this a license thing?

The DLC itself was probably patched in that time. Not by a title update, but rather the DLC was reuploaded and had a different file size or something.

A while back Marvel was working on a 3D open world fighting game if I remember correctly...

Does anyone remember the name of it?

I thought there was some alpha footage as well. Am I misremembering things?

Any chance someone has more details/video?

I have 2 that do not deserve a thread, but am hoping GAF can help with.

1) Why the fuck is Demons Souls black phantom edition worth so much money on Amazon, (£100 - £200)

2) Why. On gods great earth, does the PS3 sign you out of PSN to update games, only to then sign you straight back in again?

Thanks.

Supply and demand. There are simply a lot more buyers than sellers.

So... If I could buy copies for £16.99, should I buy them all?

Or is this wrong?

If people are buying the games at £100+ then you will make a lot of money. However, if people are only listing the games at a ridiculously high price you will just end up with a large stack of useless discs. It's generally not worth investing money in video games.

Well, Play.com have it listed for £110 aswell, which is a little odd.

That is indeed odd especially since there is nothing special about it. I own it and the small guide is definitely not worth the extra money.

Hello all. Just a question regarding tropico 4 Modern times on xbox...

For some stupid reason, it isn't available on the Australian marketplace (when its available in every other region known to man). If I buy the DLC from the American or European marketplace with one of my other accounts, will it work on my Australian account?

Hi Gaf.
I'm looking for a happy cheery song found in an Xbox (360?) game. It's from a not so well received game I believe and the game is dark. There is a lot of whistling involved. Very happy. Thanks Gaf.

Edit: Found it :D Deadly Premonition (Whistle Theme) hahah this song.

I'm thinking that it has something to do with the original Playstation.

Browsing Amazon and I came across a game I've literally never heard of. For me, that's rare. The only games I've never heard of are obscure Japanese ones.

Anyway, anyone else heard of this: "Omerta - City of Gangsters"?

From the screenshots and video, it actually looks kind of decent. But I've seen NOTHING on this. No E3 presentation, no trailers, no threads, nothing! For a game this unique? I'd have thought something would be out there.

You can install the PS3 version and drastically reduce load times (and you can access the menu when the game forces loads in certain segments of the game which aided initial speedrunning attempts). In my opinion, the PS3 version looks better (I played on both 360 and PS3 but only in 720p).

Yeah, from what I could gather by googling, once you buy a game via GFWL it is tied to your account, and there's no gifting option in GFWL.

Does anyone when Sony changed the build of the Dualshock 3? I've tried buying 3 dualshocks, 2 from Amazon and 1 from Target. The first two I thought were fakes. The plastic was cheap, the paint job was somewhat bad, and the feel of the controller was different. No more glossy handles, no weight, felt weird overall. So I bought one at Target, and although the paint job was better ... it was mostly the same.

I'm trying to replace the Dualshock that came with my original PS3 (2009 slim). Now I don't know where to look.

FFI and FFII - There are so many versions: GBA, PSP, Wii VC, PSN (as a PS1 Classic), and iOS. I guess I'd recommend the PSP versions, but there's probably not much difference.

FFIII - DS is the only real option. It was ported to iOS too.

FFIV - Many options here. The DS version is my favorite, but there are mixed feelings about the new changes. Runner up would be the PSP version. Also on GBA and Wii VC.

FFV - GBA is the only real option. It's also available on PSN (as a PS1 Classic), but that is the inferior version.

FFVI - I'd go with GBA again, but it's also available on Wii VC and PSN.

FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX - All available on PSN

If you want to do this on the least number of platforms, then you'd need a PS3 with backwards compatibility, and a DS with backwards compatibility. I think that would cover everything.

Unless you use a PC to emulate other consoles, there isn't a perfect candidate.

PS Vita
Available now - 1, 2, 4,
Available in a month - 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
Available in September in Japan - 3
Announced - 10
Σ - 10 games

PS3
Available now - 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13
With backwards compatibility model - 10, 11, 12
Σ - 12 games

PS2
Available now - 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
Σ - 11 games

The lists above are for American systems. I don't think Final Fantasy I and II are available as PS1 classics on the European PSN store.

1 and 2 are on PSP, possibly PSN as PSOne Classics (I don't remembeR), and GBA. 1 is on the Virtual Console and also iOS as a remake.
3 will have to be the remake. That's on iOS and DS. The NES version never came out outside of JApan.
4 is on GBA and Wii Virtual Console and remade on PSP and remade in 3D on DS. Don't play the PSOne Classic on PSN.
5 is best on GBA. You can maybe play the PSN version if you want. I don't remember if it sucks or not.
6 is best on Wii Virutal Console. IT's also on GBA. DO NOT PLAY THE PSN VERSION THE LOAD TIMES ARE ARTROCIOUS
7, 8, and 9 are all on PSN as PSOne Classics and they're fine.
10 is only on PS2 for now. There's a HD remaster in the works for PS3 and Vita.
You can play 11 on PC.
12 is PS2 exlcusive with no announced plans for a port or remake.
13 is on PS3 and Xbox 360, obviously.

Things get a bit more complicated if you want to play the direct sequels.

11 is available for 360 and PS2 too, but you need a fat PS2 to play it (or a BC PS3), since the PS2 slim doesn't support the HDD addon.

A normal account you set up is a master account. You may have a sub account where someone (Usually parent/guardian) has a master account and then create a sub account for you because you are under 18. If you are now 18 it should be a master account. If you are not 18 yet then you need to make a fake account i guess that is over 18.

Yes, you can buy an upscale card e.g. XRGB3, but it will cost you $300. There are several different models so make sure you read up on the subject before you spend any money.

Well, it stands for Phase Alternating Line and it was originally a color encoding system used in broadcast television. Later on, it meant media with 576i resolution. However, these days it just means it comes from Europe (and maybe Oceania?).

Phase Altering Line but basically means it's the European version of the game rather than the American (NSTC) version. Not a tech head but my understanding of the difference was that European TVs traditionally had a different standard than US (more lines, less half frames per second). Used to be more of an issue back in the day resulting in things like PAL versions of SNES games having to run with black borders to account for the extra lines.

Edit: Beaten more succinctly.

Yes. If you don't do anything, people could sue. And yes, they will find you as you need to hand in your social security number to Amazon.
