So far I'm pretty happy with the service. If you look at it this way - you paid $50 for a year subscription and a solid $25 of that pays for Qore. So that means if you get roughly $25 worth of content (that you want) then it's all good. Free stuff I got my dollars worth out of: -Critter Crunch ($7) -Mushroom Wars ($10) -Age of Zombies ($5) -Fieldrunners ($5) So pretty much I've gotten $27 worth of stuff that I actually like and/or wanted. While I don't necessarily own it - I'm pretty happy with just playing the games and would probably renew just based on that alone. Not to mention this is pretty good IMO.

Problem is, Qore is worth, say, maybe $5; and all the other content is tethered to your subscription. To be honest, the latter is what's keeping me from subscribing.

The disc one has a ton of the DLC it looks like. The characters, the ball packs and lots of things that were DLC for PSN.

For non + members the patch may well not be free. Or it could just be that + gets it early like some other things.

We had this discussion in some other thread, basically you can't offer every "real" (not just a sever stresstest) beta to a very big group of people. Though maybe they should instead offer it for all PSN+ guys in the store and remove it after x downloads, that way the people who want in can do so (not sure if a more random selection is better for the testing itself though).


btw. this is strange:
Today the automatic downloading feature downloaded an update (1.16) for Vidzone and the MAG beta (1.03). I definitely started quite more than 10 games since I launched them, however, it still didn't downloaded the patch for the game I tested (only worked as long as it was among the last 10 games played). Nice that they update XMB apps (VidZone) and betas as well though, basically anything with a version number.

These updates are very new I think (actually I didn't see them get mentioned anywhere), maybe for old patches you need the last 10 games list, but once they have a record of your stuff they actively pass through the newest updates of games you have regardless when you last played it? That would be nice and would redeem this feature.

YOu mean after you have it serviced under the protection plan? If so, then they can deactivate the machine when it is sent to service.

If you mean deactivate other slots simply for buying the plan, I think that's wishful thinking.

Though I think that's not really common (if the game has the same trophy lists in all versions), usually there is only one list even if you play more than one version.

A: The content you have downloaded as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription at no charge is only accessible as long as you are an active subscriber. The exceptions are free themes and avatars, which you will continue to have access to, even if you are no longer a subscriber. Anything you have purchased (even if you purchased it at a discount) will remain available to you even if your subscription ends.

That appears to say that free DLC disappears when your subscription expires. I thought we had decided that DLC can't be done that way. Ideas?

Well, there's this PlayStation.Blog post from June 24 which says this:

Each month there will be dynamic themes, premium avatars and premium game elements/add-ons for you to download and many will be exclusive to PlayStation Plus members only. These are yours to keep forever once you have downloaded them.

It seems clear to me that add-on DLC should be ours to keep forever once we have downloaded them.

BTW, from today's blog post that you mentioned, there's an uproar from users in the comments section not about add-on DLC, but about this:

I think this may be a misunderstanding or just poor writing.

The current offerings include one of each. I think that one could say that each bi-weekly update includes either an update to the current free PS1 or the current free game, and possibly both. At least, that's what I hope it means. Sony's in for a world of hurt (PR and possibly a legal class action suit) if they try to fudge the games now.

There's nothing wrong with stuff that also works on both, it just seems like if it doesn't work on ps3, it's not gonna be included. And a majority of the content offered is only for ps3 so far (psn games, dlc, themes, avatars). A little more PSP content on top of that wouldn't hurt.

So now Betas are not really a part of PS+ anymore? I thought being a PS+ Subscriber would make me automatically meet all the requirements? I'm not pissed, because I won't get into "all the betas", but because Betas were something Sony advertised as part of the PS+ offerings.

Yeah I think Beta's should be a part of Plus (not just them of course), obviously they want to make sure that they get feedback from the people as well but im sure Plus users would be a good cross section as they are pretty devoted anyway (paying yearly for stuff)
