Thanks! As PR-speak as it may sound, we really take feedback seriously, so don't hesitate to let me know if you run into any problems.
K I just might put that in the description cause I'm guessing a number of users will either ask about it or post low star reviews asking why its needed.

Also just for my curiosity, so sounds like the sms system is some separate way than the standard google in-app purchases?

After some of the preview hype I was surprised that Vanessa St. Pierre Delacroix And Her Nightmare is on the store with zero fanfare. Even odder is the half-finished Xperia Play support, it reacts to the d-pad but uses up to jump and doesn't bind the turn or open buttons at all.

So here's what I did.

1. Buy Dosbox Turbo. Don't get adosbox, because it runs slower, doesn't support game profiles and doesn't support absolute mouse tracking.

2. Go get an awesome dos game, that let's you control with mouse only, like Might and Magic 1-5.

3. Play that shit.

Yeeeah, that's what I'm talking bout.
I just picked up a used droid for $45 so I could use it as a handheld dos machine with a real keyboard which is something I've wanted for years. So far it looks like it's going to work great:

Unfortunately, Google Checkout is not supported everywhere, which is the main reason for the SMS system. It's also more covienient for some users in less developed countries.

To be honest though, I'm kind of wary discussing the business side of things, especially since those decisions are made way above my paygrade ;) The pimping is not a part of some marketing plan, just me looking out for our baby.

Also it requires a credit card which not many people have in continental Europe, probably a big reason for the unpopularity of paid apps here.

I played Game Dev Story till I burnt out.

I played Grand Prix Story and I liked it.

I played World Cruise Story and didn't find it fun.

But Epic Astro Story ? God this is like pure heroin. It makes me want to buy a cheap android device with a long-lasting battery to play it.

If Dungeon Village has the same system (Management + micro RPG) I'll be hooked.

Dungeon Village is brilliant, until you reach the end game and realize that all of the buildings you have built make almost no impact on your characters. But I think this is the key to all Kairosoft games, the perceived depth.

My personal favorite is Mega Mall Story, I think it's better than Sim Tower.

Heh, just after I complained about repetition in Delver the next patch adds random dungeons. Haven't tried them yet and the patch notes warn that they're buggy but randomization is rather important for roguelikes. Even if they aren't all that good yet I guess they will get better over time.

Also I took to playing Destroy Gunner SP: Operation Iceburn, it has a bad case of Engrish (Objective: Survive until the end of time!) but it's a competent mech game. Unfortunately the controls are buggy (on my Xperia Play at least, note that there is no XP controls support), sometimes it doesn't notice when you lift your thumb up which usually leaves your mech stuck shooting at the ground (or rooted in place if you use the cannon) and that can get fatal easily. The bug can be worked around by NEVER lifting your left thumb off the analog pad during a mission (even if you lift the thumb the bug doesn't happen THAT often but keeping the thumb down will prevent the bug entirely). The difficulty selection seems to be intended for new game plussing it, enemies get WAAAAAY stronger even on hard compared to normal, they can take and deal maybe ten times as much damage so you'll need late game gear from the normal difficulty to stand a chance there.

To me the key strength of EAS is the directness of the interactions. You equip your heroes, set their battle formation, decide when and where to go, etc. The management is mostly a thing of absolutes, sticking item A into slot B or building C into location D, there are no endless "give consumable to A" mechanics that boost thousands of stats with no real explanation and building interaction is mostly a matter of production chains. Dungeon Village isn't like that, it has the usual pile of obscure stats, buildings that don't work together except by boosting some stats and item feeding. Also your heroes mostly act on their own unless you call for a quest and even then there's very little interaction you have. You can decide on their classes and the benefits stack up to build super powerful heroes but you need that, monsters (even the trash mobs) quickly become able to instakill your characters. On the other hand you cannot fail a quest because of that, characters that get wiped just take a while to get back on their feet (if they aren't healed back to health before then) and quests only have timers that ask for more money when they expire.

My Xperia Play (which is only a single core) plays all SNES and Genesis games at 60fps easily, and quite a lot of N64 games too. Is something using your CPU when idling? Or maybe a slow SD card?

Or, try a different emulator.

SNES should be running flawlessly.

I had a much weaker Motorola Xoom, and that handled even PSX emulation at more than acceptable speeds with sound and controller support. Considering your prime is Tegra based (only faster), you should have even less performance issues.

Chances are, you're either using a shitty emulator (there ARE more than one), or your settings are fubar.

The two emulators I've used are, snesoid and snes9x ex. Both run fast, but have differences in on-screen controller support and filters. I can't remember which, but one has better sound accuracy. You won't find either one in the market however, But a quick google search with the "APK" extension affixed to the end of the search term, should get you what you need.

And calm the fuck down.

Always a possibility I guess. Though I doubt it.

My Galaxy Nexus sports an SGX 540, and runs at 720p. The game runs incredibly smooth, and that GPU is much weaker than yours.

Anyone know of any good Scrabble-esque games -- like Words With Friends and WordFeud; but with local multiplayer without having to be connected to the internet?
The only one I've found that actually has that is DroidWords, and I thought I should ask here before purchasing it.

Seems like a lot of times it's multiplatform developers who don't realize this is a big issue for Android users. It also requires an extra permission ("modify sd card contents").

Nipponica is probably Kairosoft's weakest game, there's just so little interaction. Yes, there's thought involved in the things you do but most of the time it's hands off while you wait for the game to allow you another choice (e.g. dish development only happening at night, harvesting only every three months, ...). The complete opposite of EAS.

I haven't checked the whole thread to see if it's been mentioned, but I'm having a lot of fun with Uniwar HD on my phone. Feels incredibly similar to advance wars on the GBA and has worldwide online turn based play. Well worth the five bucks. Only downside is the email notification of your next turn versus the program notifying you, but I guess it's good that it's not constantly running in the back ground.

I'm glad I am not the only one with that opinion. Niponica is a dissapointment. Especially coming from the wonderful dungeon village. Dungeon village's new game + is kinda weak though. :(

They're throwback Baldur's Gate-style RPG games, albeit a bit more stream lined and accessible with a smaller party, skill trees and tactical grid based combat.

Graphics and sound is shoddy (worse than Fallout/BG etc), but the atmosphere is good, and there's old school text descriptions when you enter important areas.

I only have Avadon for PC, but it's very nice. Definitely recommended.

Hi! We recently released Zombie Lane for Android, one of our recent biggest social/Facebook games.
Last week it reached top 50 grossing grames in US, and we're close on top free games.

It's free (+ microtransactions) casual and social game where you kill zombies, craft weapons complete missions, save people etc.

Android version : http://bit.ly/AndroidZombieLaneGL
We have an iOS version too : http://bit.ly/iOSZombieLaneGL

Gameplay video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=Cr8Jfrz70DY

I like to think of it as "These games only allow you to progress through micro-transactions".

Either way, its the one category I skip over.

When alot of things are free, paid items that sell well hold bigger weight by the implication that they are "so good you pay for them".

Played it for a while. The UI was a little clunky (tapping just to move also meant sometimes using up precious energy as I dug/attacked something I didn't mean to.) I ran into the "micro" transactions wall pretty early on, and hard. Significant cash would be needed to have any fun in this game, it seems.

That's not how this sort of game works. You're fed a few fun things but pretty soon the only way to advance is to pay, and the amounts get serious. It's easy to see why they would make money hand-over-fist from some players compared to games where you just shell out the $2-$10 to be able to play the entire thing.

I'm never going to try any missions with the awful controls, but I can see myself booting it up and just driving around from time to time. It's really impressive to have it running on my phone.

The driving is twitchy at first but I've got a touch for it now so it's not too bad.

I can't imagine doing anything timed/shooting, though.

It's a bit of a shame they didn't get the controls to be better (though I don't think that's possible with a touch screen) but it's a game I'll only want to boot up to do silly things for a few minutes, anyway, so I'm not that bothered by it.

I just need to see if there's a way for me to unlock the later islands without actually playing the missions!

Given that it's free to install they must.
