So far, good night. Got ARC up to 20 and CNJ up to 8 (some random guy PL'd my CNJ so I can have cure and protect wooo).
E: Scratch that, got all jobs except GLD up to 10 (I forgot to buy a GLD weapon). Definitely going to make solo'ing easier with protect and second wind at my disposal! The one thing I still can't get a feel for is the tab targeting. It feels off.

I hope they finally sort targeting out in 2.0 so far they haven't had a clue on the numerous times they have tried to fix it. |

recent ff xi news make me really miss playing ff xi online. I've never been hardcore player, only reach lv 30s, but I really like the atmosphere in that game. no mmo I've tried ever since can really compare, not even WoW. if I want to go back to some FF MMO, should I try FF XIV? or should I just buy FF XI again? I'm pretty sure my old ff xi account is gone, but it's only $10 for the collection.
also, I'm gonna play casually, so no way I can stay late for hours forming party and play till morning like I did during my FF XI days. don't know if XI has changed into more solo friendly or not. how's XIV about playing it casual? (as in weekly, or just 1 hour at a time etc, can you accomplish stuff in an hour? I remember forming parties alone in XI can take up to an hour for me) |

FFXIV is a much more casual game, you can level solo all the way to 50 if you want to, there is a lot of group content but none of it is required. Saying that FFXI has changed a lot in the last few years and is a lot more casual now also. I personally would never advise someone to go back to 11, but at the same time I would probably tell people to wait until 2.0 or 2.0 beta until they try FFXIV. |

Also, do most people not use the mouse at all? I finally have enough skills to make use of 2 hot bars, but scrolling between them is odd since I have to use the up arrow. And finally! When does 1.23 drop? I want to make sure I've got time to get ARC up to 30 before leveling CNJ up for Stoneskin. I'm 20 now, so if I get lucky and find a party, I should be able to hit 30 relatively quickly. |

There is a hot key to target both the closest target and the closest claimed target in the keyboard configurations. Most people use gamepads at the moment, I'm expecting that to change in 2.0 though. @Callibretto no idea bout using Indonesian CC with US version of the game, I can't see why it would be an issue, but SE are known for being dicks with payment stuff so who knows. |

Speaking of that, is there a better way then just waiting for shouts in Uldah? |

All that said, I still can't shake the feelings of nostalgia. There are a lot of familiar elements, but it doesn't quite "hit the spot". |

Can someone give me a quick run down on what the 'advanced' jobs are? Someone in LS chat told me if I'm going to solo to not unlock warrior but to keep on MRD. I'm kind of confused on this. |

Even at level 42 I have more than a full level worth of bonus which means I could easily hit level 44 or 45 tonight with 90 minutes or so of doing leves (unless I run out of bonus in which case I would probably do some quests). |

Having said that you can add a pearl holder to your friend-list even when they are not on and through it you can tell when they are online. |

Got official dev acknowledgement in the thread I made awhile back regarding caravan exploitation.

I'm sure most of the cry babies on the forums will complain about another thing being instanced though lol. |

A lot of great information in that interview. Getting really hyped for this again!
I like where they are heading with the dungeon design and it sounds much more exciting than instances where you just run around and kill stuff. I would love to see some hardcore dungeon mechanics like Crystal Tower not allowing "Return", but they would probably have to reserve mechanics like this for "Hard" or "Extreme" modes. There would be too many tears. It sounds like they may not raise the cap at launch and leveling is still going to be pretty fast. As grindy and difficult as it was to level in FFXI in its infancy, it was something that I really enjoyed and made a lot of friends and memories along the way. I hope this doesn't turn into another solo MMO where you only do content with other people at end game. PVP sounds like it could be a lot of fun and the 3 factions are almost guaranteed to be the three different grand companies. I assumed the Coliseum would be 1v1 content but it sounds like a lot of players can participate. I wonder what the player and level caps will be for these events. The comment about not much content being transferred directly pretty much confirms my belief that 2.0 is essentially a new game from the ground up.

So I've been getting more and more curious about this game lately, reading up the dev blogs and it seems like the new team has been doing great things. Is this game worth getting into now?
I'd be in it for the long haul, 2.0 really looks cool but I would like to see the game before the big switch. How playable is the game in it's current state? |

As for the comment about leveling, several other interviews said that the 'pace' he wants people to be introduced to the content is as followed: Solo/learn the game to lvl 10, level to 20 largely by yourself while also getting introduced to light party content (Small dungeons, behest etc.), mid levels more group oriented content opens up (Dungeons, caravan, behest, whatever else they have up their sleeve) and so on and so on till lvl 45+ where end game content begins to open up and the games systems are largely group oriented. Basically he wants introduce the content at a very deliberate pace where a person can go from solo to party only content by endgame and not feel completely lost. It just slowly becomes more group oriented and you don't just land into group content at lvl 50. |

What are the odds of Square offering a disc version of 2.0 once its out? Would gladly pay for it if that's what it took.
Getting the feeling that it might be better to wait for the PS3 version, if it ever comes, to avoid the massive download. Trying (postponing in the end) to redownload The Secret World has shown me how much I dislike digital dowloads on my current connection (patching is something else unless I have to patch everything in the client (why I haven't reinstalled Lord of the Rings Online)). Or digital downloads for anything that is above 5gb. I can at least do that over night while everyone is sleeping. |
