Amazing news. I had lost all hope for more Berserk anime. Now to hope even more and hope it's at least a 50 episode anime that covers as much of the released manga as possible.

Still haven't seen the original anime, but I am still pretty pumped for this.

Will be a good way to prevent the blue balls from the manga every time a new idolmaster comes out. Goddamn it Miura.

Is this going to be a long series with little to no filler, or a 20 episode cock tease?

I grabbed a copy from Amazon right before it went to $40. Totally worth it. I'm not sure I believe the "digitally remastered" claim, but it looks good.

I really like them, but they've made some bad stuff as well.
The Ninja Scroll TV series was awful.

Not to be a buzzkill here, but IMO I think it's close to impossbile for this to live up to expectations:

The manga is too long, so they can't cover everything.
It doesn't have an ending yet, so they have to leave it open or make up their own dumb ending.
They'll have to simplify the artwork a lot.
They'll have to tone down the sex and violence a lot.

And so on.

I wouldn't be suprised if it was some one-shot promo thing either.

As if they'd get anywhere near that far. This is unlikely to be super-lengthy, I'd expect a series of OVA's which may cover an arc or two.

Well, the first season departs from the manga in a lot of ways and it still works really well as its own thing, so I'm not worried about that. I assume Miura will work as closely with the animation studio this time as he did last time, okaying the scripts and everything. I can't imagine he'll let someone do whatever they want with the Berserk name.

Assuming the show is at least as violent as the first season, I'll probably be okay with the content changes. And it has to be better animated than the first season. I don't see that aspect failing to improve in quality.

Reposting some of the Berserk manga blurbs.

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is exactly what its title advertises, a savage, gruesome, and often darkly funny roller-coaster ride, inspiring the internationally popular anime series. If you're looking for graphic fiction to take home to Grandma, this ain't it - unless Granny smokes cigars and rides a Harley!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is meat-grinder manga at its most extreme - gruesome, violent, and darkly funny - and the inspiration for the wildly popular anime series. Look elsewhere if you're craving sweetness, subtlety, and good manners. Berserk is the bull in the graphic novel china shop - and who wouldn't watch a bull getting medieval on the dishes!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is maniacal manga to the max - relentless, harrowing, and gruesomely funny - and the inspiration for the popular anime series. If you're looking for graphic fiction tied up with a pretty pink bow, you'd better run for the hills - because Berserk will show you what you can do with that bow!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a hurtling manga avalanche, a pit-dark epic of relentless action, repellent horror, and remorseless humor that has hordes of initiates sharpening their blades while sending the timid into full retreat. The bell tolls for thee, wimp!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a streaking manga fireball, an epic riot of galvanic action, grotesque horror, and grim humor with an army of fanatic loyalists ready to convert unbelievers or drive them screaming into the wilderness. Speak, hands, for me!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a howling manga hurricane, an epic blast of unrelenting action, unsettling horror, and unhinged humor that has turned formerly productive citizens into malign servants of darkness! Hell hath no fury like Berserk!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a smoking manga chainsaw, a sweeping epic of gripping action, ghastly horror, and graveyard humor that has produced an army of fanatical readers and countless shellshocked civilians. Duck and cover!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a bare-knuckled manga brawl, an anything-goes cage fight of action, horror, and humor that breaks no rules - because there aren't any! Morituri te salutant!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a fiery manga apocalypse, an ominous omnibus of furious action, fearsome horror, and funereal humor that strikes a power chord in the hearts of its devoted followers and strikes down the rest like a scythe through wheat. Bring in the sheaves!

Created by Kentaro Miura, Berserk is a runaway manga locomotive, a crashing colossus of teeth-rattling action, spine-chilling horror, and taboo-breaking humor that fires the boilers of its devoted devotees and just fires the rest. Ashes to ashes!

It seems like they can get away with a lot (maybe they'll have uncut blu-ray). The first Berserk anime was pretty violent. Preferably this would be on a satellite station.

Overated manga from a mangaka who can't even be punctual about his damn job. I guess I will be in for the anime as long the sex scenes are done right. That's the only thing berserk can do right..... Rapes not included, please. Also, whoever said madhouse haven't done anything wrong clearly haven't watched HOTD, but I'll forgive them as Rainbow is awesomely good, but yeh madhouse is good when it actually tries.

Yeah, some of the sex and violence was pretty gratuitous. I think my other points are more problematic. It seems hard to cover only an arc ot two and still have the overall story go anywhere or expect people who are not familiar with Berserk to know wtf is going on. Also, it would need crazy budget to do any real justice to the artwork and action.

Man I hate people complaining about manga releases being too slow. Pretty much any manga that's any good has more inconsistent release dates.

Well, it won't really matter what arc they cover because it's not like they story is moving anywhere very fast. It would accurately reflect the manga!

And would they be concerned about people who don't know the story? Berserk has been around for a long time and is fairly popular.

I won't claim to have counted, but I'm pretty sure some gratuitous rape/orgy/sex-scene has come up in every arc. Can't really be glossing that over.

Anyway, I'm sure there'll be more news soon enough anyway, so there won't be any need to speculate much longer.

Also, I don't think susume hirasawa will do the soundtrack. He probably busy mournig for his friend death ( satoshi kon) and he is working on his newewst album. He haven't released anything since planet roll call which was ages ago.

Berserk ost was awesome though so I hope he works on this.
