By the way, I'm sure we've had this debate before, but how would people feel about this game were it fully voiced? It seems like they'd have little excuse not to, given the popularity & the fact that many Japanese adventure games are full voice these days. Anyone with me on this? Does Layton usually have full voice, or no?

They started talking a lot more in Layton 2, and the voice acting is perfectly fine IMO. The actor nailed the Layton role. I would even put it on top of the original Japanese voicework since the charater is meant to be an english gentleman.

Will be our first time hearing a dub for Wright though, it better be good.
