I just bought it from Sainsburys for £16.99 (it was posted in this thread a few days ago). It shipped the next morning and arrived a couple of days later. I think that's cheaper than Zavvi has it currently. Zavvi only ever had it in Mega Monday once and I'd been checking every week since. Figured it was worth the 2 extra pounds to make sure I actually got it. I've never seen the GTA4 GOTY edition go back down to the Mega Monday price I got it for, so figured RDR GOTY might be the same...

Edit - sorry if you're not in the UK - Sainsburys only ship internally :( I guess with a 10% off Zavvi code it will be pretty much the same price though anyway.

My MGS HD collector's edition came yesterday. The artbook is great and the t-shirt seems to be good quality, if a little big on me. Also my copies of Catherine have been despatched from both Zavvi and Amazon (I forgot to cancel the latter).

It says Medium on the label but it seems like a large medium (if that makes any sense) and I am pretty thin.

My Zavvi order got shipped today too. Not bad given that I got an email apologising for the game being sold out a couple of days prior.

So I sent The Hut a message about ordering Gears of war 3 copy since 30/3, and not receiving it. And this is what I got:

Thank you for your message.

Unfortunately we have a 40 day policy for any items not received.

As this is past the 40 day mark unfortunately we cannot refund or replace this item.

Please make sure that if you do not receive your item within 40 days after dispatch to contact us and we can help you further.

I am sorry for any inconvenience that has been caused by this.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

Kindest Regards,

Am I the only one who never knew about their 40 day policy ?

That's pretty shit, although it seems weird you'd wait longer than 40 days to contact them.

Sounds like they're being generous with 40 days, their help pages actually state: "To receive a refund or a replacement, you must inform us that you have not received your item within 21 days from the day on which you received an email from us confirming that the item had been despatched."

Why did you leave it nearly two months?

There are places to buy books from that 1) are cheaper than Amazon & 2) have free shipping (like The Book Depository). 10£ for shipping is a rip-off.

I usually do, it's just somewhat annoying when you see some superduper offer @ Amazon, which is made completely pointless by the high p&p fees.

well the amazon.co.uk shipping prices ARE strange sometimes...

- EU countries w/o local amazon get free shipping above a certain price
(despite the fact that in EU countries with a local amazon website, the ordered items are sometimes simply send from the local warehouses, so shipping should actually be cheaper then)
- some categories have expensive shipping, other have not (e.g. games vs. movies, so weight is not a factor)

I appreciate how fast the orders arrive (even when actually send from their UK warehouses) and it's not THAT much more expensive than other fast shops like shop2, but still the inconsistency pisses me off.

They are inflating the shipping costs for countries which have their local Amazon shop (such as Germany for instance). They don't want smart shoppers to do their shopping in the UK I guess. Funny thing is they're losing the sale altogether in my case. I just use other UK/channel island shops which offer normal shipping costs and not my local Amazon.

Do I get on your "grits"? really? Frankly I don't give a shit if I get on your grits or not. If you have something constructive to say, say it, otherwise GTFO. Smartass...

Those shipping prices are unreasonable. plain and simple. They're even more unreasonable if you consider that it's just a "plain 'ol shipping" option, no tracking, nothing.
For that price to be justified it needs to include tracking and some speedy delivery.
This is a plain ripoff. One item, one book. Not a fucking 1mx1m box.

wow, the hut group is really cutting corners with postage now, it took me nearly 2 weeks to get my game and it looked like it had customs stickers over the pack when it did arrive compared to buying from many other websites which are much quicker.

I have no idea what they are doing but changing the policy to 40 days tells me they are using some super cheap and shit service from oversea.

Uhm do you also say this when you order doesnt even get shipped internationally? I had quite some occasions when my amazon.uk ordered stuff got shipped from Germany and was here much faster then when it was actually shipped from uk.

I've only ordered from Zavvi twice - one time I got it a few days after it was dispatched, and the last order was dispatched on April 26 and got here May 13

Does anyone else have those "Magyar Posta" stickers on the case as well? It's says here

"Magyar Posta Zrt. (Hungarian for "Hungarian Post JSC") is the postal administration of Hungary. Besides normal mail delivery, Magyar Posta also offers logistics, banking, and marketing services."

I thought Zavvi was from the UK?

My MGS: LE order from Zavvi arrived today. I'm impressed with the quality of packaging. I thought for sure they'd use a plastic delivery bag to cut down on costs.

Also the box they used was huge!

Why did you wait that long? Especially for some not really cheap game.

Oh and btw. play.com does exactly the same. I ordered some DVD from them. Forgot about it. Noticed that it wasn't there after 2 months. Normally you can turn an order to "did not receive" and will get sent a replacement. Now in my case, this wasn't possible anymore. Tried to e-mail them, no reply (I think it's not even possible to contact a human being at play). At least it was a pretty cheap DVD, ordered it again. Got it that time. Because I got 2 DVDs twice from them due shipping taking that long and them sending out replacements, I wasn't even mad.

No, you misunderstood. Zavvi sends out replacements after 21 days for international orders (10 days for UK orders). BUT if you don't contact them within 40 days, they won't sent another one out. Exactly this happened to the poster. He waited too long.

Shipping to Portugal at least is tracked and quite speedy. Amazon doesn't ship through regular mail like everyone else does. They are consistent with delivery times.
They don't have any cheaper international shipping options because of that.

Added UK prices, nothing amazing.

Seem to have Alan Wake CE for £13.49 in the UK.

Not been paying attention to the PC version since I have it for 360, so I dunno whether that's a good price.

I want to buy Deus EX HR PS3 but I am a bit confused with so many editions. There is a collector's, an augmented, a limited edition and a normal edition. I hate this crap.

I guess the "limited" is just the normal but with some DLC codes (similar to Dead Space 2), is that right?
If I just want the game, is the normal ok or should I get the limited? the price is also confusing, in some places the limited is cheaper than the normal.

If you just want to get the game, it doesn't really matter, if you get limited or normal. Yes, limited is just a few crappy DLC codes basically. Augmented has an artbook and Making-Of DVD, Collector has the same as Augmented but also some crappy statue. I bought the augmented and haven't used the DLC codes.

DLC codes in all of those editions are just weapons or stuff like that. No actual real content. You wont miss out on anything.

I believe there was one extra bonus mission. But I found the additional explosives to be rather useful at times... (serving as a distraction), and the classic shotgun to be of nice design...
