That "Linux removal" motivation claim is BS. Sony didn't remove Linux from phats at first, we had it until these bastards kept messing with the system.
PS3 Slim announcement [ No OtherOS option ] - August 2009 Fw 3.21 [ bye bye OtherOS ] - April 2010 See? Anyone who had a Linux-installed-PS3 continued their work on it even after Slim launch. As of August 2009 there were around 23 million PS3s with OtherOS option out there according to VGC. And don't forget that these guys never bothered with Linux development in PS3. You remember any useful apps from them? I don't remember any. I don't blame Sony for OtherOS removal anymore. |

Any one saying these hackers are just doing it for homebrew and they don't support piracy is too naive or plain stupid. They very well know that there are many who were waiting for this kind of shit to happen so they could start playing pirated games or sell pirated copies of PS3 games specially in countries where the piracy laws are taken very lightly. I am surprised so many here are really happy that it happened.
My question is can Sony in this case do any thing? There should be some thing in the user agreement that should warn about tampering with their hardware and opening it like this to public and sharing the confidential information? Why can't guys like geohot etc be persecuted by these companies? Its one thing hacking on your own for your satisfaction and fun but its another when you open up a console and let every one know how to further rape it. |

If a museum left a priceless piece of art completely unguarded, and someone stole it, who would get more blame, the thief, or the museum?
I can't believe how many people, not only are crying for Sony, but don't place any blame on them at all, for implementing their security like idiots. This is Sony's fault, people! :lol |

Maybe we should all live in Jodie Foster's panic room. I mean if the lock on my door is not biometric and anyone can barge in with brute force, it's my fault for not having a panic room type security. |
