My collection of the best Crysis mods/tweaks to make the game look maximum eyecandy
#1
I've been a bit bored lately and in preparation for Crysis 2 getting released soon I decided to make a thread with my collection of the best mods/tweaks to make Crysis look the best it can. I'm no expert but you should find all this helpful.
Most of the stuff is pretty simple the install. The maps go in the game\levels folder, .pak files just go the game folder and an autoexec would go in the crysis folder To play a custom map just open the console and type "map mapname" Make sure con_restricted 0 is set ============= SKINS/TEXTURES -Rygel's high texture pack. http://www.fileplanet.com/194825/190...gh-Texture-Mod This is a huge 2GB texture pack to make everything look alot better up close. Before: ![]() After: ![]() Before: ![]() After: ![]() -NanoSuit Ultra Customizable Personally I think this one looks the best, plus you can even customize the look and colours of the suit and visor http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=4600 ![]() -High Resolution Foliage Nice one to make all the foliage look alot better http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=4471&lim=0 ![]() ![]() -Laser Pack Optional but it just changes the laser pointer colour http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=1693&lim=0 -Global Ambient Lighting/POM AF by Xzero The one is a MUST - It makes it so POM and AF can both work together!! Normally you could only have 1 enabled not both so this way you get the bumpy rocks on the ground plus AF. I'm pretty sure r_usepom 1 has to be set. http://crymod.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=73616 -Palm Tree texture I just like this one better than the standard http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?f...81&lim=20&sid= ![]() -High Resolution Grass Another good one to have http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=5206&lim=0 -Shotgun and FY71 skin http://hotfile.com/dl/94065037/c9ec3...YSHOT.pak.html I actually cant remember where I got these but they both look much better ![]() ![]() -Weapon Skin pack (SCAR, Socom and SMG) A good couple of skins in this pack you can choose from http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=357&lim=0 ![]() -Asian Truck red used look skin Reskin for the truck http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=3308&lim=20 ![]() -LTV red used look skin Reskin for the LTV http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=3247&lim=20 ![]() -Civilian Car camo wood skin Reskin for the Car http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=3311&lim=40 ![]() -Sig Sauer p226 -This gun is a great replacement for the SOCOM! http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=2118&lim=0 + -Sig Sauer P226 - SOCOM Replacement script http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=4978&lim=0 ![]() ================= PARTICLES -Xtreme Particle Chaos Package to replace existing particles with new cool ones (videos in link) http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=4566&lim=0 ================= WATER -Replacement shader by aNoN to make the water look much better and have waves!! (This might be a bit taxing on your system but looks so so good) Put the shaders folder from the zip into the game folder and make sure you run the game with -devmode on the end of the crysis shortcut exe http://uppit.com/v/6SN1D77F Before: ![]() After: ![]() Before: ![]() After: ![]() ======================== AA Just crank it in your 3D card menu and in the game aswell. I have r_edgeaa turned off as I reckon it blurs too much and it has to be off for normal AA to work. Theres also these 3 fsaa console commands to note taken from tweakguides.com: r_FSAA - There are three settings starting with r_FSAA which control Full Screen Anti-Aliasing (FSAA) in Crysis: r_FSAA controls whether Antialiasing is being used (= 1) or not (= 0); r_FSAA_samples determines the actual sample rate of Anti-Aliasing;r_FSAA_quality determines the quality mode, affecting the overall type of Anti-Aliasing used in conjunction with the sample rate. Ideally you should alter these settings using the in-game Anti-Aliasing Quality setting, since the sample rate and mode values differ depending on both the type of graphics hardware you're running, and whether you're using DX9 or DX10. To see the values implemented at various AA levels on your particular system, check the two FSAAProfiles.txt files found under your \Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Game\Config directory for details. Note that this form of Antialiasing only works if Shaders Quality is High or above, and it is also incompatible with the r_UseEdgeAA command; only one or the other can be enabled. AF r_TexMaxAnisotropy 16 Set that in the game console or your config ============= Configs Ok so theres heaps of configs out there to also improve the graphics, alot you can just choose for yourself. Some examples: Very High Quality Config http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=491 Crysis Extreme Quality http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=1905&lim=0 Mster Config http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=2032&lim=0 ================= And finally heres a config tweak to put in an autoexec to make the draw distance the best. These should be used for testing mainly as this will probably kill your performance with everything else added. e_lod_max e_cull_veg_activation = 100 e_detail_materials_view_dist_xy = 8192 e_detail_materials_view_dist_z = 512 sys_spec_ObjectDetail = 3 ; OBJECTS ca_AttachmentCullingRation = 200 ca_DrawFaceAttachments = 1 ca_useDecals = 1 e_cbuffer_resolution = 256 e_decals_allow_game_decals = 1 e_decals_life_time_scale = 3 e_detail_materials_view_dist_xy = 8192 e_detail_materials_view_dist_z = 3072 e_dissolve = 1 e_lod_min = 0 e_lod_ratio = 8 e_lods = 1 e_max_view_dst_spec_lerp = 1 e_obj_quality = 4 e_proc_vegetation = 1 e_terrain_occlusion_culling = 1 e_terrain_occlusion_culling_max_dist = 200 e_terrain_occlusion_culling_precision = 0.1 e_terrain_occlusion_culling_precision_dist_ratio = 3 e_terrain_occlusion_culling_step_size = 4 e_vegetation_bending = 2 e_vegetation_min_size = 0 e_vegetation_sprites_distance_custom_ratio_min = 1 e_vegetation_sprites_distance_ratio = 2 e_view_dist_ratio = 255 e_view_dist_ratio_detail = 255 e_view_dist_ratio_vegetation = 255 es_DebrisLifetimeScale = 1 i_rejecteffects = 1 sys_flash_curve_tess_error = 2 To avoid shadow clipping (from distance, atleast some of it) : ; SHADOWS e_shadows = 1 e_gsm_cache=0 e_gsm_cache_lod_offset=3 e_gsm_combined=0;e_gsm_depth_bounds_debug=0 e_gsm_lods_num 6 e_gsm_range=6 e_gsm_range_step=3 e_gsm_range_step_terrain=16 e_gsm_scatter_lod_dist=70 e_gsm_stats=0 e_gsm_view_space=0 e_sun_clipplane_range = 1500 e_shadows_cast_view_dist_ratio = 3 e_shadows_from_terrain_in_all_lods = 0 e_shadows_max_texture_size = 1536 e_shadows_on_alpha_blended = 1 r_ShadowBlur = 3 r_ShadowJittering = 1.75 r_ShadowsMaskResolution = 0 e_shadows_clouds = 1 e_shadows_water = 1 r_ShadowTexFormat 3 ======================================================= Enviromental Custom Maps These are some hand picked maps I really liked. I´d be totally down for a mod playthrough after my first playthrough on vanilla, but I gave up on the boss fight in Nov after tons of crashes, even after I tried switching to DX9.
Any help for that? Edit: I´m an ungrateful dick and forget to say THANKS, upsi-dupsi :/

I just bought Crysis from Steam sale and I hope some people can help me with the setting and answer some question. anyway, here's my spec,
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2,4ghz 3GB of RAM GTX 460 Cyclone 1GB Windows XP I use the in game scan and it give me High Setting for all options. Resolution is at 1680 x 1050, 4xAA, with V-sync the start of the game runs great. the forest looks and plays amazing. very smooth too. then I reach a village and the game's framerate got bad. quick movement make the screen almost paused for a moment, even the cutscene got choppy, sure there's a lot of action in there compared to my stealth approach in the jungle but it's really distracting. I tried the GPU and CPU benchmark, GPU runs great, and CPU1 benchmark is acceptable above 30fps most of the time. but the CPU2 benchmark, the one with rocket launcher in snowy area, that is just really really bad it averages at 20FPS, but there are many times where it dips to 6 fps. that is just unplayable. any recommended setting that I should use? maybe dropping motion blur or something? I tried to lower the resolution to around 720p, turn off vsync, but the cnow area benchmark is still erally bad. is it really just limitation of my CPU? I'm thinking to build a new pc next month, maybe with that new SandyBridge CPU, will that help me get smooth always above 30fps at all time? |

Ideally, it should be water mod water uptill medium distance, vanilla water closer to shore, but I don't know how they would make/program that. |

That foliage mod is amazing! I always thought that was the weakest part of the game, looking at bushes up close when you were crawling through and being all sneaky. It is so being downloaded.
Also, good call on the Mster config. More people need to use it over CCC, I love the darker reddish tones it gives the game. Vanilla and CCC are too blue, too sterile. Mster gives it that whole tropical island sunset vibe you really want, at least imo. Everybody download Mster, it's amazing! And holy hell is nighttime ever dark. |

Most people want Crysis to run better, not look better. Will these texture packs work with mods that improve performance? I don't know how well vanilla Crysis will run on the computer I'm buying in 2 months (460 SE 1GB, Athlon X4 640, 4GB RAM, W7 64-bit, 1600x900 monitor) but I'm not optimistic about making it look better than it already is.

The fact that people feel the need to make extra high resolution textures for Crysis of all games only goes to show that gamers will never be satisfied with anything. :lol
Great thread though, I'm definitely going to give those levels a try. (The water "enhancement" mod looks pretty bad) |
