Sounds like a cluster fuck to me. A free form RPG shooter, which bears almost no resemblance to the first game. I guess it could be good if they pull it off

I was initially disappointed that Prey 2 was going all CoD on us. However, this doesnt seem to be the case. It'll be interesting to see how all these different elements come together.
I still don't like the design of Killian. If we don't see him in the game, then it won't be an issue for me. |

The first game is pretty underrated.

- GR: "It has the moving scheme from Mirror's Edge, the freedom of Mass Effect and the fire fights of Killzone 2"
Sounds like the ultimate FPS there, IF they can pull it off. |

I don't even understand why they're using the Prey IP - the game sounds completely different. Prey sold under a million, so putting a 2 after it can't be for marketing reasons.
It can still be set in the Prey universe, but named something else. I would even argue it can hurt the game sales. |

I only care about this game right now because I liked Prey -- and I think a lot of these promises a hard as fuck to bring to fruition, so right now, I'm banking on more Prey. Not the ME/KZ/AC2-whatever comparisons. |

Why didn't they release a trailer of this? It sounds much better than the live-action badness we saw.

This thread has been quoted on a lot of sites. Looks like game writers don't know the meaning of "vag" in "vag portals".

Received the french magazine Joystick, and it pretty much says the same as Game Reactor, but there's more:
- Chris Rhinehart compares the side quests of the game to Red Dead Redemption (i.e: cold-blooded murder or bringing back alive the wanted guy) meaning that there's the core storyline but the way you settle the optional missions draws the character. - Missions feature infiltration, shadowing, murder contract... - Since you're a bounty hunter, one can ask you to kill a prey, but that prey could ask you to kill instead the one behind that contract, in return for money. - James Sumwalt (creative director) says the size of the area is at least as big as Rome in AC:B. - Finishing off a victim or killing his attackers will influence your reputation meter (Red Dead again). During a mission, after asking a tip about his target to a hot female alien in a strip club, Killian grab a slope before jumping towards a structure. The magazine says: "it wasn't scripted, it was live and smooth, and there's no glow/highlighting bumping in your face to tell you where you can hang from". Also, they confirm Human Head is using an updated version of id Tech 4.

Sounds more and more like a sequel that actually warrants a radical departure from it's predecessor. Can't wait for this!

This sounds fuckawesome, especially the Borderlands angle. This is exactly what developers need to be doing in the sea of Call of Duty clones. This hodgepodge of several titles is what makes it unique and innovative. Can. Not. Wait.

It's astonishing how little Prey 2 has to do with anything established in Prey 1, story-wise, stylistically, and gameplay-wise.
Why even call it Prey 2? It's not like the Prey IP holds a lot of weight with consumers... |

I like the sound of the game, although I would prefer a more linear / story focused experience. I think it's definately a good sign they are going all out on singleplayer and not bothering with multi. This design practice has worked well for games in the past.
Main concern is that it's console lead. We've seen how awesome games can look when PC is the lead, especially with ID Tech, so this is not the best news... but fingers crossed they don't neglect the PC / PS3 and treat those platforms as an after thought. Anyway, there is a good deal of potential for awesomness here so I shall remain optimistic. |

The bar in the magazine looks great with an excellent use of neon/lighting. The visuals also look a lot better than I think anyone is really expecting. Can't wait to see some official media. :D |

The difference between Prey 1 and Prey 2 is kind of like the difference between RE(1,2,3) and RE4. Which lead to one of the best games ever...
So I'm happy for them to use the name, as long as they produce a game as awesome as RE4. |

Didn't like Prey 1 (didn't finish it), even though it had some cool ideas. Mirror's Edge inspiration makes this a better game already.

Never played Prey nor do I care for FPS in general but the info in the OP make it seem like the perfect game.
Mirror's Edge movement with stealth and loot in a Mass Effect world? Can't wait to see more at Eł - scans look great. Especially like the "No multiplayer, 3D, Kinect or Move" part as I am not interested in any of these and the "there's no glow/highlighting bumping in your face" made me chuckle after last weeks DE:HR video. |

The concept behind this game sounds so awesome, it's almost too good to be true. Like many have stated before, I don't understand why they won't just make a new IP out of this, however i'm loving what I'm hearing so far. If Human Head can pull this off, this could revolutionize the FPS genre.

It sure sounds awesome. I don't understand all the "it's nothing like Prey" comments. Who cares? Prey is a great title. You don't just throw that away. It also has some name recognition with gamers.
To me, the best hope for "new" IP the next few years is using existing brands to make new games. If Activision wants to make a 3rd person action game set in space that unfolds nothing like a CoD game, who care if they call it Call of Duty? |

btw, for shame PC Gamer, you'd think such a big magazine would try and get the magazine themselves or at least credit GAF (the write-up is the exact same info in the OP and direct quotes).

For those wondering why it has nothing to do with Prey 1's story, in Joystick magazine, the developer says that they think have done what they wanted to do with the first Prey. And since in the first game you were the prey, they wanted to mark the occasion by making the player being the one who track the preys.
Personally, I don't care how they call it, just make it as great as it sounds. It's like BioShock Infinite, they could've call it BioShock 3 I wouldn't care because it's set in the same universe, just a different story/place and gameplay looks way better. I also forgot to mention that in addition to strip club, there will be casinos. You will be able to take some decisions, in the same mission when Killian asks to a bodyguard for his target location, he answers with blackmail asking 2 000, the developer playing the game chose to push him to make him fall into the void.
