Kind of. With Nevada Skies you can actually use the in-game control panel to switch between a whole range of different atmospheric conditions, some of which are just for show but the others might look better to you.

Is there a particular mod that increases the number of companions that follow you? If so, which is the best one to DL?

Yeah, i went with that one. It works pretty fine so far. I haven't gotten dead money yet though.

I feel like i've gone on a modding binge. It's so fun to play with new stuff. :)

Any mods for New Vegas that let you redo your character build? Perks, points, attributes for your current level, etc.

There's a few. The one that worked best for me requires you to be female though. Desert Succubus lets you rebuild every last thing about your character, down to refunding your spend skill books.

I went with the first Bounty mod for New Vegas, and it's wonderful. I really love that it's not just the simple find target and and eliminate them missions. The narrative elements added into each mission, and the AMAZING references to pop-culture make it really worthwhile.

Does the second one live up the first? I downloaded it but i plan on installing it once i finish this one first.

The first one is pretty unimaginative as far as the quest design is concerned. You just go from place to place and get into fights, then get rewarded. The second actually requires that you seek out bounties and targets, so it's more appropriate to play alongside the main game. I never actually did finish NVB2, I meant to do it when the next DLC came out but that's been delayed again.

Sure the structure of the quests are the same, but i really dug how they changed it up. Like getting drugged and captured, getting surprised by a ghoul target dressed like Freddy Kreuger.

I'm just glad it wasn't just find target in an empty field and eliminate them.

Anyway, back to my old question, are there any other sorts of mods like AWOP and the bounties to DL?

Also, there was this pipboy mod i saw in a video that looked like a PDA. It wasn't the PipBoy 2500, but a different. It was smaller and it was blue. Do you know the name of it?

Oh totally, I loved all of the pop-culture references and the scenarios they put you in, was just commenting on the structure being very much a series of fetch-quests. Overall I was pretty amazed with the quality of the writing and VA, really looking forward to seeing what those guys come up with in future.

Not sure, I've been very remiss in my duties as far as keeping up to date with what's happening with NV mods, but that was because of The Witcher mostly so I'll spend some time this week and do a big update at the weekend if there's anything to add.

Whoah, no I haven't seen that! Sounds cool though, if you find it then post it, otherwise I'll see if I can find it when I'm getting an update together.

From what information I have gathered..my guess is:

Fallout Mod Manager

Nevada Skies

Project Nevada

ELECTRO-CITY Relighting the Wasteland

Interior Lighting Overhaul - Realistic Interiors

MTUI - UI Overhaul

There are other ones such as A World of Pain but I heard that unbalances the game so apparently its better not to have it on a first playthrough.

Quasi-Essential ( Since I haven't played, someone needs to tell me if this mod is essential or not):

Weapon Mods Expanded

Centered Third Person Camera

Immersive HUD

EVE - Essential Visual Enhancements

Also these look like good mods but aren't essential:

Increased Wasteland Spawns - This one intrigues me a lot, I feel like it could greatly improve the gameplay experience.

Better Casinos

Realistic Gunshot Sounds

DK Female Face Textures

Official Pipboy Readius - New Vegas Addition

DOF Depth of Field or SSAO_FocusDOF_AHDR_Mod

Also, a question for anyone out there who has played. Is Fellout NV necessary if I am using Nevada Skies?

Also, is FOOK a good mod to use? would it be incompatible with the ones mentioned earlier?

Also, i might as well post my issue here. Since i downloaded the DLC's the game had to update and now it's crashing constantly. I tried removing all the mods, but that only seemed to have made it worse. When i entered Zion for the first time, my game crashes after moving a few steps forward.

Is it because my save file has become too dependent on the mods, and removing would only compromise the stability of the files? Or rather every i've downloaded just comes into conflict with the DLC and the new update.

I'm gonna be really pissed if i'm ass out and have to start a new game.

I like it quite a bit, but I held off on installing it until I'd reached level 30 or so. One nice thing about the IWS mod is that it includes three different mods that set the spawn sizes to small, medium or large. At the large setting I was seeing packs of around 10 geckos or nightstalkers at a time where I'd seen 3 or 4 enemies spawn without the mod installed.

I'd like to voice my support for the Monster Mod as well. This adds variety to existing groups of monsters such as several new varieties of ghouls, geckos and deathclaws. It also adds lots of all-new enemies. Monster Mod offers optional patches for A World of Pain (to add momod monsters to AWOP areas) or Increased Wasteland Spawns (to add momod monsters to the new IWS spawn points). Check the image gallery at the link above to see screenies of the new critters. Please note that the Aliens and Terminators are included as individual mods, so you can add lots of new beasts to your Fallout experience without being required to have movie critters in there too.

I also enjoy the Level Cap 100 mod because I find my drive to explore the wasteland and collect loot drops off sharply after I stop accruing xp. Be warned, though, that using this will eventually put all of your skills over 100. If that doesn't appeal but you still like the idea of leveling up to 100, then I'd suggest keeping your character's INT low and avoiding the Educated perk that boosts skill points per level.

Thanks to the OP for setting this up.

If you're new to Fallout mods it's a good idea to search the Files tab for the mods you're planning to install. In some cases, files that patch a mod to work with DLC are offered separately from the main files. Also, follow the FOMOD tutorial offered earlier in this thread if you want the ability to easily uninstall mods without having to manually remove its files from your fallout installation.

Also windows vista/7 users should note that many fallout modders recommend moving your steam installation folder outside of the default location prior to modding fallout 3 or new vegas to avoid conflicts with the UAC safety features in vista/7. This solved my initial inability to use mods with the steam version.

News

New Vegas Script Extender will automatically disable itself when launching the game once Steam has downloaded the latest patch. This will cause your mods to stop working.

Quote:
The New Vegas 1.4.0.525 patch has been released. NVSE must be updated to work with the new patch, which I'll do as soon as possible.
I'll update the thread when he releases it. I'm really looking forward to playing with the new patch considering the huge change-log.

There's the Poco Bueno pack, and a higher-res Ojo Bueno pack (but I think it has less textures than the former).

Seriously looks way cleaner. Also doesn't really hit your performance too much (as I used the performance version)

Do i have to download the updates for the all the mods i got, if any, or will just downloading the new NVSE update be enough.

Cool. Also, do any of the mods that you know of have problems with the DLC? I'm worried that either Dead Money or Honest Hearts might not play well with some of the mods i downloaded. Specifically, A World of Pain, Project New Vegas, NV Bounties 1+2, and Weapon Mods Mod.

AWoP and the NV bounties work well enough for me

Project Nevada and the Weapon Mods all have things that you can install to improve compatibility with the DLCs

Not sure about since the patch, but I have played through Dead Money 3 times and Honest Hearts once with all of those mods activated. I don't think I had any significant problems, although the combination of hardcore mode and Project Nevada makes Dead Money a serious kick in the arse since the death-fog is even more deadly and the ghosts do a huge amount of damage.

Having a blast with the (modded) game.
But a problem it's really annoying me :\

Nevada Skies is supposed to have a lot of cool effects and darker nights right? The problem is, that more often than not, when i'm going around at night, NS tends to deactivate itself, and it won't come on again (i tried reloading, entering and exiting buildings and such, but nothing will do, just exit the game completely and boot it up again, just to have it disappear after a few seconds).
Some times it stays on for more though (even an entire in-game night), totally randomly and very rarely.

Here's how it goes:

first it's activated (i just loaded there, in the first screencap) then i start running around and, about 10 seconds later, it starts to get brighter and brighter, until it becomes like the last screen. :\
Anybody knows what's up?
I could try to post on the nexus forums aswell.

Yes it's the last.
If i force the effects through the special menu in the pip boy, they come up (sand storm or rain etc) and the dark comes back too, but again, if i start walking around bam, the mod goes off, and it's not just the dark, but all the weather effects. :\
