Sonic has really done well transitioning over to Nintendo platforms. If only ourselves from the Nintendon't days could see the world now.

It really is. I wonder though if they would see it as a success. How many SKUs did that game have?

The three 3DS games would just be Monkey Ball in each region, right? So it shipped 360k?

It's horrible that Iron Man 2 sold that much. The game was so bad it killed my old ps3.

How has Sonic Colours fared in comparison to recent Sonic titles? Hopefully much better on the account of it actually being really good, but...

Also I was honestly expecting Vanquish to have shipped far less. Awesome game, hopefully these are enough numbers for a sequel.

Iron Man 2 is somewhere between 2 and 4 games.

PS3/360, PSP/Wii, DS. That's 3 sets of assets, programming tasks, perhaps 3 entirely different development teams. Grouping them like this is kind of pointless. There really isn't much relationship between the DS and 360 version, other than that they are both called Iron Man 2.

sonic the hedgehog 2006: 0.9m

to my knowledge, sega didn't even list sonic and the black knight in any of their reports.

Not sure about that, since the pachinko business (Sammy) makes up most of the profit. As usual. The Sega side includes arcade and consumer games and that's at least turning a profit ;)

PS Consumer business has gone down 70% since last year in profit, but I suggest a lot of that was due to the Japan earthquake in March - they were expecting Yakuza (of the End) to be released at the end of their fiscal year. Glad they now have more time to tune it up!

Of course, on their arcade front, their Trading card games are making bank and there's no sign of VF (alright, a lot of that's probably income from the rented machines, but still) anymore

Willing to bet the new total war cost more then all of the IM2 games put together,
they were built on the the first set of IM games and used a ton of the same assets.

Isn't that across five platforms? Those are pretty abysmal figures if so.

Hopefully it still made some money for them though.

300k per platform doesn't sound "abysmal" for a licensed cash in game.

It's kind of weird they didn't release Shogun 2 in Japan. Since that's where it's set and pretty true to life.

I know it's PC, but didn't a lot of Koei strategy games get released on PC there? Then again, those were set in China, mostly...

That's not a fair comparison is it?

Iron Man is on everything including the kitchen sink.

Vanquish is only on PS3 and Xbox 360

Shogun 2 is only on PC.

Also Iron Man is a popular comic book hero riding the coattails of a movie, while Vanquish is a new IP no one knows about except for gamers.

I'm trying to remember the number of platforms for each of those. Is this correct:

sonic unleashed: 360, PS3, Wii
shadow the hedgehog: GC(?), PS2, Xbox
sonic and the secret rings: Wii-exclusive
sonic the hedgehog 2006: PS3, 360

It did well, although I have a feeling the fact that they're including DS sales is having a big effect on the numbers. Still, it does make it much harder to understand the fact that Generations has only been announced for the HD twins; there *must* be a Cafe version brewing, it's the only outcome that makes sense.

It's good that Vanquish didn't sell too well. Cutscene-heavy covers shooters with slow motion isn't exactly a model that I'd like to see copied.

Unleashed was on PS2 as well.

A 3DS version is seemingly confirmed via a GameStop release schedule. But a Cafe version on top of that would make so much sense.

Also, apparently Sega's stocks went DOWN when they announced the game, there's a slight possibility that it was due to the lack of a Nintendo platform version. These numbers do speak for themselves though.

Having a side version kind of misses the point, though.

The logical answer here is that good (and even mediocre) Sonic games sell really well on Nintendo systems. Having an outsourced, low-budget version made for Nintendo systems seems like a bad business decision.
