I'm looking forward to just being able to better control rotation on turns. I tried those SpeedFreek 'cups', and they help a little bit, but it's still kinda tap-tappy at the end of the day.
I have the MS wheel, but it takes up a lot of space on the desk I use, and the wires are messy. I can't wait to try this, which allows for more subtle steering control (like the oldschool NeGcon).

Picked this up today, wasn't on the shelf, and the gal at the games section in BestBuy was pretty dazzled that this even existed.
She also mentioned that a Forza4 bundle was back there, no luck trying to get her to sell me one. Doing laps in the Forza 4 demo and I love it. Manual (w/o Clutch), Sim Steering, and everything else off except STM. Feels great, although I have a tendency to oversteer in spins. I'm faster than before, and I love the precision. |

I've spent about 6 hours with the speed wheel. Bottom line: better than the controller.
I started off going back on forth between the controller and the SW. I wanted to see if my times were getting better or worse. I tried theSW on Burnout, PGR4, Forza3, Forza 4 demo, and Dirt. The SW took quite a bit of time to adjust to. I'd say it took me about two hours before it felt "natural" using it. The SW worked amazing on everything but Dirt. This is the first Dirt so I can't say if the game is bad for wheels or if the SW is bad for the game. Either way it was a constant battle of under steer and over steer. I played with the SW continuously for about 4 hours last night on Forza 3. My arms never got tired. You don't have to hold it out in front of you. I played in a recliner and had no problems controlling the SW. Towards the end of the night I decided to try the controller again and I could NOT match the times I was pulling with the SW. The problem with using the controller for me, is the propensity to go full tilt left or right. I recognized that I was constantly going full left or full right on the controller to steer. I just couldn't match the steering precision of the SW and found myself getting very frustrated at trying to use the controller again. The two biggest gains you will get from using the SW is steering precision and throttle and brake precision since the triggers have more depth than the standard controller. What you lose, in comparison to the controller, is RB and LB. I had to have a controller on standby to swap out when I needed those. You also lose the headset and can't use a standard controller rechargeable battery pack. I'm definitely glad I got it and will be using the hell out of it for Forza 4. I'm definitely a casual racing fan. I would never invest hundreds of dollars in a simulation wheel and set-up. I found the SW on the edge of what I was willing to spend for a racing game accessory. However it is a cool piece of technology and not only makes my racing driving more competitive but I also found myself having more fun. |

I had to actually look down which defeats the purpose. I was surprised that these indicators seemed to work well in Shift considering its such an old game.

I'll be buying the Forza 4 bundle with this controller for 100$ on Tuesday. I used it at a display in Best Buy and I was really impressed with how stupidly fun and accurate it was. It felt really good and comfortable in my hands. Not only that, but my girls can use it! Actually, my girls playing with it is what got my attention. Out of the box, it's compatible with all racing games, so I may pick up some others on the cheap (like Dirt 3). There are no shoulder buttons on the stick though, so that may be an issue with some racing games. It's not a replacement for a 300$ wheel and pedal set up, but for good casual fun I think it fits the price perfectly.
I will post impressions later with my in home experience! |

Played a little more with the wheel this morning. Getting a bit better with it. Think its just going to take some practice to get used to it. I think I'm using the gas/brake more like a controller's gas/brake instead of pedals which is leading me to over-accelerate. Also think I may be running into the issue that some people have been complaining about where counter-steering to regain control ends up making you oversteer... hopefully it will be patched.
Default handbrake button is "B" which is a little bit of a pain to get to. They probably should have made it "X". Hopefully you can change it. Also feel as though the face buttons are NOT very responsive compared to a regular Xbox 360 controller. You have to push down hard on that "A" button or sometimes it won't register in the menus. If I'm treating it like a regular 360 controller's "A" button and am quickly/lightly pressing it, sometimes I have to press it two or three times for it register. D-pad works fine for shifting though, its probably a better d-pad than the regular 360 controller. |

Has this been posted yet?
http://www.destructoid.com/review-xb...l-213215.phtml Seems like there is not one single bad impression out there. Edit: browser search fail.

I guess the only question...switching between the controller for tuning/painting and this for racing...thoughts? can you have both turned on? or do i have to turn the controller power off then power on the wheel to keep both on player one? also...no headset plug. is there a wireless headset? i thought the wireless headset still needed a dongle to plug in to the remote.... |
