New thread graphics will be coming soon, some elements are placeholders and I'm planning to add links to details on how to do DSi-3DS transfers etc.

Please feel free to suggest any new additions or changes you'd like to see to what's here - I've kept close to what was here before, as it worked best for updating and seemed the most easily read way to present info but I'm open to suggestions for improvements.

Can a US GAFer give me a list of WiiWare demos and - if still up - DS demos on the Nintendo Channel? I'll grab the Euro ones myself.

A "Trailers" section, perhaps? Could do...

EDIT:

Shit - did they abandon the demos program? I can't see any, and the "Demos" genre has gone here in the UK.

Super Adventure Island II for Europe tonight, my personal favourite game in the series. Doesn't look like there's anything for any other service (At least not yet).

I'm actually interested in this now that the 3DS e-shop is up and running. I've already purchased Super Mario Land and Link's Awakening, both fantastic games that really bring me back. I was quickly reminded how short SML is though, I beat it in 39 minutes according to my 3DS activity log.

I foresee myself buying many GB games and 3D classics (especially for SNES games) in the future.

US WiiWare demos still up:

Bit.Trip Core (posted 4/18/11)
Bit.Trip Runner (posted 5/2/11)
Bit.Trip Void (posted 5/30/11)
Dive: The Medes Island Secret (posted 3/21/11)
Lead the Meerkats (posted 5/16/11)

DS demos seem to be the same as they were when Okamiden went up (which was the most recent one), but there's more then I can remember off the top of my head.

It will be every Thursday from next week, IIRC. I believe the regular WiiWare/VC/DSi updates will be moved to that day as well, rather than having two separate update days.

Interesting. I was quite surprised to see that all the Euro demos had gone - temporary or a policy shift?

Hey, where is Pinball Pulse: The ancients Bekon on the 3DS e-shop? I can't find it anywhere. This isn't on the list of non-transferable games, so what's the deal. I never had a North american DSi, so I really want to get this game -- heard it was good.

Interestingly, it was on the list of non-transferable titles but was subsequently removed. Perhaps still an issue?

I didn't know it was on the list originally. Has anyone tried transferring Pinball Pulse to their 3DS? It would suck if the only way to play it on the 3DS is via transferring.

I guess they will start adding more stuff to the eShop next week then. We got Link's Awakening DX yesterday so I'm not going to complain.

Does the Mario clock on DSiWare have an alarm function?

considering buying if it does and using it on my 3DS's charge cradle as an alarm for the morning.

I'm pretty sure it does. I know the Animal Crossing clock does. But remember as long as a DSiWare clock app is running your 3DS will be in DS mode and thus won't receive any SpotPass data.

Go Series PicDun is pretty damn awesome. I'm new to DSIWare BTW.

Also picked up:
Escapee Go
Anonymous Notes - From the Abyss Chapter 1 (kind of decent for a $2 loot game)
X-Scape (neat aesthetics, very polished)
AlphaBounce (good although it might get repetitive)
Boxlife (fantastic)

Question for you all.

Will there be 3DSWare coming soon for the 3DS? Or will downloadable software on the 3DS consist exclusively of 3D Classics, Virtual Console and DSiWare for the near future? I've been taking it for granted that they'd start releasing 3DSWare immediately, and that's what I took the Pokemon app to be... but I can't find anything about 3DSWare anywhere!

Just downloaded a bunch of games on the 3DS. The store is so much better than on the DSi. Could be better, of course, but it's definitely workable now.

I got these:

Virtual Console:
- Legend of Zelda – Link’s Awakening DX
- Super Mario Land

DSi Ware:
- Bird and Bombs
- Paper Plane
- Pyoro
- Photo Dojo
- Dark Void Zero
- Alt-Play: Jason Rohrer Anthology
- Mighty Flip Champs
- 10 Second Run
- Aura-Aura Climber

Aura-Aura Climber, 10 Second Run, Mighty Flip Champs, Dark Void Zero and Bird and Bombs (Spotto) are real stand-outs, and definitely worth the money! Love the realistic GB and GBC-borders for the Virtual Console-games too, complete with faint battery light if the power runs low.

They are, but not all of them show up in the DSiWare Highlights section. To see all DSiWare-games, go into the menu (top left), and do a software search on the DSiWare-platform.

Wow. Quite a turnaround there. :P

Here's the PR for the Thursday day change.

Quote:
Nintendo Download Gets a Makeover, Adds Nintendo eShop Content on June 16

Sometimes you just need to shake things up to keep them interesting. That’s especially true with the recent launch of the Nintendo eShop, a new virtual store that gives Nintendo 3DS™ users access to a wide variety of downloadable games and select content that can be viewed in 3D without the need for special glasses. To mark the debut of the Nintendo eShop – and provide consumers with a valuable one-stop showcase of all the latest downloadable content across Nintendo systems – the weekly Nintendo Download is about to get a makeover.

Starting June 16, the Nintendo Download will include information about the newest additions to the Nintendo eShop, including new 3D games, 3D Classics (select classic video games re-mastered in 3D), Virtual Console™ versions of games from the Game Boy™ and Game Boy Color systems, and hundreds of games originally offered via the Nintendo DSiWare™ service. What’s more, this modified weekly update will be posted Thursdays instead of Mondays, giving fans a heads-up on the latest offerings just in time for the weekend.

Loyal readers can rest assured that the Nintendo Download will continue to feature the latest items for the WiiWare™, Nintendo DSiWare and Wii Virtual Console services, highlighting the ever-growing variety of instantly downloadable games and entertainment for Nintendo systems. Likewise, content will continue to be added to the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo DSi Shop on a weekly basis, also on Thursdays.

If the point of moving releases to Thursday was to put some time between the announcement and release in order to build up some anticipation, then it doesn't make sense to move the announcements too.

But perhaps the announcements will come Monday "evening" (meaning Tuesday morning, for everyone not on PDT).

The press release on the 13th makes it sound pretty clear that both the announcements and the content will come on Thursdays.

When the announcements were being done on Mondays, what time of day would they come out? And when would the content be released?

The stuff would be posted in the stores as of 9 AM PST, with the PR announcing it going up about 4 hours earlier at press.nintendo.com

Did they release anything about what will be put up this Thursday.

Edit:

Never mind I see the announcements are going to come Thursday also.

I thought the eShop was cash based now? I was buying Link's Awakening and then it sends me to add funds in the typical amounts $5, $10, $20 etc. Thought I would drop $5.99 and walk away...

It's a points based system disguised poorly as a cash based system, but surprisingly worse unless you're part of the Glorious No Tax Master Race.

FYI, the Nintendo Channel spoils what WiiWare and DSiWare games are coming this week.

No 3DS software though.

It's somehow far worse than any points (or cash!) system I've used.

I went to buy Link's Awakening. It's $6, which is kinda crazy, but OK, I've spent more on worse. Then I see I can't just spend $6. I have to spend $10. Then I see they don't charge me tax on that $10 purchase. They wait until I buy Link's Awakening to tack on the sales tax. So I'm left with $3 and change with fuck all to spend it on. Unless I want Alleyway. Which I don't.

This is not how it should work. Not even Microsoft pulls this kinda shit.

I'm assuming it works the same way if you redeem a 3DS gift card. Maybe there's a way around it by changing your zip code?

It's so absurd and needlessly complicated that I don't see myself buying much of anything off the eShop.
