I'm still debating whether I should buy that. Shout isn't interested in reconsidering. They think that assorted episodes on single DVDs is the best plan for a little girls show, and a Blu-ray season boxset would make it a brony show. And they bought the rights to a little girls show, not a brony show. They will release a little girls show until the demand for it dries up. They have no interest in releasing a brony show. If we wanted to see the release of a brony show, we should've put our money on the line and bought the rights before they did.

If we're interested in shoring up support for their release of a little girls show so that it survives longer (which might not be the best plan from a brony standpoint), Shout is willing to take our money. But they don't have any system in place to tell them who the money came from, because they don't care. We can all preorder the DVD from Amazon.com in the hopes of making a statement, but we could all just be soccer moms. Everybody uses Amazon nowadays.


Although I should say that I still haven't cancelled my DVD preorder, because I'm a fool.

True. This might just be (almost certainly is) a geek hierarchy thing, but the panda comic was a wee bit too wish fulfillment for my tastes.

Being a pervert is something most internet denizens learn to cope with at some point or another. Having to escape something so bad you insert yourself into pony world? Whole other kettle of fish. Not to say, of course, that those snap judgments are justified, only that that is what my highly unreliable gut reaction is to those things.

Aamulehti, Finland's second-biggest daily newspaper, published an article on the brony phenomenon and last weekend's pony meetup in it's Friday supplement, Valo.

The headline reads:

Smack the Pony
Bronies: Grown men sucked into the world of My Little Pony. The result is a community with a big heart.

It's a nice little article and quite positive, emphasising the brony community as the main reason so many adults are attracted to the show.
