A couple of questions.

1. How hard is the game? How much grinding is needed?
2. I heard the item configuration sucks. True or not?

1. Thought it was normal, however you need to keep up with the enemy level. Sometimes 2 level can make a difference. I remember getting slaughtered and then with 2 level more it was rather simple. As for grinding, this kinda depends on your play style. You get exp for quests and exploring, I did quite some of those so grinding was mostly not really neccesary. If you really leave out all of this, I guess you might end up grinding a bit.

2. Configuration? Equipment?

I've gotta say, with that red CC and pre-order poster, I'll probably be picking up a EU copy even if NoA releases it. Plus, I'd say NoE deserves a little something for being first to market ;)

If you have access to a Hijacker game (Lego Whatever, Smash Bros Brawl, Tales of Symphona 2 and a couple more) and you can follow simple directions, yes, it's very easy. Check the GAF wiki for Wii homebrew.

There's a huge GAF thread on Wii homebrew here, but Stumpokapow gave a nice and easy guide to getting it setup for the sole purposes of playing imports only in a previous thread on this (in the OP):

I think it's all one and the same. Stumpokapow (or whoever wrote that originally) simply broke it down and spelled it out only in terms of doing it and using it to enable region free play.

Sure, looks good enough, I'll bite.

But, boooo to the mod who gave in to the whinging babies and changed the title. One of the rare occasions where the localisation flow favours Europe and we still have to towdown to some butthurt psuedo-imperialists.

I've been wanting to do this. And I think I might the big issue is I think doing this could somehow not let me transfer VC/WW games from Wii to Wii u. I have alot of downloadable games...maybe I'll just import a Europe console. Since they are in english anyway. (or maybe wait and import a Europe Wii u at the rate NOA's going. Then I deffinitly wouldnt be able to transfer DL games lol but Im just that sick of NOA) I have a Japanese Wii that I bought in Feb 07 maybe I can mod that to play Europe games lol. I dont use it anymore anywayz and I got SSBB on it.

I just need to go ahead and learn Japanese. :(

I think the points is that if NoA wanted to release Xenoblade even the Pal version would be in American English. I can't see NoE bothering with the English localization if NoA showed any effort to localize it.

I know it's unusual for JRPGs, but it's actually kinda the norm for fantasy WRPGs these days (or at least different English accents to signify character diversity).

Could someone give me a game comparison as to the play style of Xenoblade? I've generally been out of the loop with Japanese RPGs as I got very, very tired of them. I'm playing through White Knight Chronicles 2 at the moment, and finding it tremendously boring and bland.

Though from what I've followed Xenoblade sounds great, I guess WKC2 put me on a bit of a downer. Are the two mechanically comparable at all?

I can't say anything about WKC2 but every impression I read so far made it sound like an offline MMORPG in the vein of WoW. Actually a lot of people even compared it to that.

Add a story which supposedly is one of the best in years, especially on the character side.

I think it's kind of hard to actually compare it to another game, because it really is that different, at least in terms of the specifics of the game system.

Just from looking at it the game's battle system seems to most closely resemble FF12. I could be wrong there though.

I can't say for WKC2, as I've only played the first one (which I felt was one of the most boring JRPGs I've played this gen, so I decided not to even look at anything on the second one.) I can't even compare it to the first one because I've pretty much blocked that one from my memory.

I'd say the first game that pops up in my mind is FFXII, but only superficially. It does play a bit like an offline MMO, but this is one of the few cases where it doesn't feel like a bad thing. I'm bad at explaining battle mechanics, so it is probably easier if you watch a video about that. I don't think battle mechanics are one of Xenoblade's particular strong points anyway (one of the only marks I have against the game.) It isn't a bad system, just only serviceable. Mostly it is about the world exploration/quests/characters. Huge areas to explore, lots of quests that give more depth to the world, and a ton of NPCs (even just normal town NPCs) that are actually quite interesting characters in their own right.
