If you're okay with importing, Ultimate Butoden is completely worth it (also made by Game Republic). One of the most competent DBZ fighting games of recent.

Dragon Ball Origins is really underrated. The combat is fun, the cutscenes and presentation are great, and there's a lot of bonus content and hidden things to find. There's a surprising amount of gameplay here. It also probably has the best 3D character models on the DS. I never played the second one though.

Haha, if this thread is somewhat alive, I wouldn't mind putting together a thread like this for Revenge of King Piccolo (and eventually Advanced Adventure, as well as Saiyan Invasion), even though it isn't the greatest of games (it's very repetitive). ROKP is IMO actually one of the more beautiful Wii games I've ever played, and it's a shame no one cares about it.

I'm actually working on a thread about Ultimate Butoden, and its lack of localization. It's very sad that the funnest looking DragonBall fighter in the past decade will be the first DragonBall game in the last 15 years to not receive any kind of international release. It's only sadder given it is appears to be Game Republic's last great game.

Doesn't the stylus movement feel weird opposed to the d-pad?

I know in the second game you can map stylus running and stuff to the buttons. I'll have to dig up my copy of the first game to see if that's the same there. I don't remember it being too tedious.

It's like legacy of Goku on the nintendo sp right? I always wanted to pick it up but it really just flew by me, considering I put in inhuman hours on the legacy of goku 1+2.

Couldn't get into Origins, try as I did. I really dug Phantom Hourglass too so it wasn't the style/controls.

What was so cool about Ultimate Butoden?

Hmm, that's actually a pretty decent comparison for the games. Though they are a bit different. Just an aside though, if you do want to relive memory lane, there is a third Legacy of Goku game, which supposedly perfected the formula - it's called Buu's Fury.

So I've played about an hour and half into this game on my 3DS. Thankfully it seems the circle pad can be used to dash, and push blocks, leaving only attacks to the touch screen.

You made a thread with "Origin" in the title at pretty much the worst time possible.

I remember really wanting to play this game when it first came out but since I didn't have a DS, I forgot about it. Totally going to pick it up now that I have a 3DS.

I finished the first game when it came out, but I never really got into the second one. I remember it being a lot harder, and, even though you could control the game with buttons, you still had to use the touchscreen for the inexplicable qte scenes.

I bought and liked the first one. Controls are fairly tight and the move progression felt fine to me. Although I never upgraded any of my moves until I finished the game, which in hindsight was probably really stupid. It was sort of hard to like the story though, since I grew up watching the very end of the DB series/all of DBZ. Call me crazy, but I actually enjoyed the GBA Legacy of Goku series. It's for this reason that I skipped getting Origins 2, since I think a large part of enjoying these types of games is the nostalgia factor.

I don't know if I would call you crazy, but I hated that first game. I still have a copy and that game is so frustratingly hard!
