Kirby could be Nintendo's last retail release for DS in Japan (future Pokemon is from Pokemon Company and some crossword, puzzle games that are TBA may be cancelled, after all even if nintendo publishes them they are not anything important).

Agreed, good usages of amazon:

Price discounts - shows you overstocking chances are likely product won't have legs
Sold out - If it's sold out at amazon chances are the maker is out of stock for the time being
Really really rough estimates of sales - seeing if a game is in the top 30 vs top 1000 in sales(in which case chances are it won't even show up in the top 50 for media create)

For everything else it's too small and skewed of a market(especially for 360 games) for everyday use

Same opinion. They don't say nothing. I remember when Mother 3 has to come out on GBA. It had some amazing of such rankings, but in the end it sold something like 300k.

Looking at COMGNET, people really need to start pre-ordering Type-0.

But, yeah, obsessing about its daily ranking won't add much to the conversation. COMGNET is a good indication of interest, mostly for titles whose primary audience is hardcore/otaku gamers, but it is hardly the be all and end all.

Reported first day for DS2 was about 20-30k so poor numbers considering the first one topped 100k in LTD. Hope it had some decent legs during the weekend but I'm highly doubtful; probably, it will be around 50-60k as the first one.

My opinion didn't change and won't change until I'm proven wrong. Software>price Even if it goes over 100k August and September release schedule is emptier than Wii's. It won't last for long. Weekly baseline can rise 10-20k and goes somewhere to 40-50k but that's it. There aren't many who buy a gaming console from August in antipation of November and December titles.

If Nintendo goes for a worldwide launch (which is vey possible) it's basically only December because in Europe Mario Land is end of November and Mario Kart start of December.

It's likely 3DS will cannibalize half of DS sales, since now it costs as a DSi, so it could be a good alternative for those who're interested in buying a DS now.

I'm sure the actual numbers for software are abysmally low. Piracy is incredibly rampant in Korea. I am in utter shock when I see a young kid with a DS that DOESN'T have an R4 in it.

I also teach middleschoolers that regularly download brand new movies, etc.
