Well, that's a rude summary. Gonna be one hell of a game regardless.

Also, we're getting an exhaustic SDK at launch, so a Berserk mod is mostly a matter of new models, new animations, and perhaps some extended gore/dismemberment system. You could start lazy and just make it about Gutts murdering rabbit and wolf people if that's your thing.

It's not even that bizarre, really. The guy laid down a really good framework for general action-adventure activities like melee combat, platforming and stealth, the characters involved just happen to be anthropomorphic animals. Also, this is a direct sequel to Lugaru, which featured bunnies as well.

Because the concept of that game is far better and deeper (for my tastes at least, there are too few Mount&Blade likes around these days) than a badass rabbit beating the crap out of other less badass rabbits. And his work could make it look awesome. That's the point of claiming I'd love a mix of both to begin with, so the epic samurai squad sandbox game would look as well developed as Overgrowth.

I believe the word your looking for is unique, there's nothing bizarre about making a third person action/adventure game.

Just the opposite. The blood and gore was too ghoulish for the dev with realistic humans.

yeah, it is too bad they seemingly don't really have a bigger plan for the overall game than what they already did in lugaru

This thread shows the influence of the internet on society. In the 90s most people couldn't tell you what a furry was. Now anything that has animals that act like people is called furry or thought of as weird.

Yeah. Lugaru was fun, but extremely repetitive. Even the different environments didn't actually change much (except when I used them to cheese some of the more difficult fights later on).

Overgrowth is a vast improvement simply in terms of gameplay mechanics, but I hope there's a bit more to it, this time.

Everyone is worried about looking uncool if they don't make a vocal display of disapproving of stuff, etc etc.

"Furry" really refers to a specific, organized, western fandom. Even within that fandom, the actual works of anthropomorphic art aren't "furry art". It's anthropomorphic art; even the art that uses popular styles in that community. Furry isn't a genre, it's an organization.

Newsflash: you can like things like talking animals and not be a "furry". To truly be a furry fan, you need to take part in the fandom. Gamers typically get around their current neurotic insecurity by saying they like "aliens" and "monsters". Stick some gills on your blue lizard man and suddenly it's in Mass Effect and isn't "fucking furry shit". Paint some concentric circles on your anthro tiger monster it and it's not furry, it's a Digimon :D

It's irrational to think that anthropomorphized animals = furry.

I was practically raised by Looney Tunes and Disney (when my parents were too busy to feed me), so I love anthropomorphic animals.

Secret of Nimh, Redwall, too, were pretty big to me as a kid. Among others that I can't remember at the moment.

It always infuriates me a little when I see people immediately hate something because it has anthropomorphic animals. I know most people aren't like that, but... goddamn.

Why is it that the indie devs that create the best animation, animation that even shows up the big boys, love the most off-putting character designs?

This and skullgirls are 2 of the best games I've ever seen animation wise but goddamn they are both weird as hell.

For the record, I had no idea what a furrie was before a couple of weeks ago. I'll be interested to see what the finished product looks like in any case.

Edit: actually, I dont think this game is weird per say, just that the realistic nature of the combat just doesn't mesh well with the giant bunny combatants. It's almost like the violence needs to be more cartoony.

NO! That's what I love about it. It's such an odd combination. Why make this generic when it stands out so well as it is?

I've been okay with violent bunnies since Alice in Bloody Roar.

Speaking of that, was I the only one to pick up on that nod to Alice in Wonderland with that character? Alice... White Rabbit...

Anyway, This looks great, and the concept art can really make the bunnies look fitting for the violence once they are properly dressed. (also, the jump animation needs some work; seems like a static frame after launch).

If all gameplay developers were as awesome as this guy, games would be really amazing. Really impressive to see one guy making procedural animation system and really solid 3d free-form combat mechanics along with it. Also platforming seems really solid. Really, any system that he shows in the videos seem really elegant and smart. Jelly.
