This would logically suggest that Ron, as a Rangers leader, would be against admitting girls, thus making him the "bad guy". But right from the onset, even when she's arguing with him about her group being better, we know that Ron has nothing against girls being in the Rangers. He values strength, and we know from his mother and his relationship with Leslie that he readily admits that there are strong women. We hear it again in the episode; first, Ron saying he respects strong women, and second when everyone is indoors and Ron is still camping out, and then finally when Leslie starts up the Swansons. I thought that was more nuance than most shows would do. I also think one of the reasons why they did this is because they didn't want Ron to be a bad guy, so the central conflict had to be over something that we would emphasize with Ron at least a little bit. It would also be hard to believe that Leslie, as a person who clearly has feminism and gender identity as important aspects of her personality, could even respect Ron on a basic level if he was openly sexist. The episode wasn't fantastic to me, but I really liked this element.

In "Art Show", there's a brief glimpse of him being a bit of a snob, but basically he's not shown to be abhorrently snotty or rude and we don't see him condescending. Then they had an episode where they openly acknowledge that Oscar has a reputation for being a know-it-all. And now they have a bunch of bad forced scenes where Oscar acts like a know-it-all, and there's been multiple times where he's been wrong about things and truly an egghead jerk. It's a mistake to think that everyone has to be broad and physical and funny all the time. Having a person to serve as a comic foil or straight man is a good thing.
