I noticed when Haley was asking Alexis to borrow money in the beginning, she was TOTALLY doing a perfect Claire impression. It was a really great detail, to have the daughter exhibit mannerisms of the mother.

"learn you English" line was hilarious. Sofia Vergara is hilarious.

I don't know where the shake up occurred, but the writing has skyrocketed tremendously for this season.

Kinda bummed they never found the hit and run guy in the Jeep.

yeah I was totally thinking they were going to tie that guy in as the same dude who stole haley's money, since they all went there like that.

But they just kind of let it go and never returned to that guy in the episode at all.

I just started watching this a few nights ago. I didn't think I'd like it (network TV, the premise, etc) but it's so damn good. The writing is sharp and I love the characters. Also: omg Gloria.

I actually felt the same way about the first season. I wrote it off entirely, but picked it up shortly before it ended, after hearing the constant praise from every facet of the internet. So glad I did.

Haven't seen last night's episode but I'm glad it sounds good. Last weeks was down right excellent with Cameron. The show is at it's best when the three families mingle in some way.

Whenever I hear people don't like network TV it makes me think of the people who don't like super hero comics.

Shotgun is what you say to claim the front seat in the car. Mitchell assumed Cam meant he was actually calling for a shotgun to be used.

Why is this thread smaller than the Community and Parks and Recreation threads? I just strated watching this show, but I find it legitimately funny. Parks and Community, on the other hand, are all sorts of terrible. It's a shame the best of the three is the least popular.

It's funny, the shows popularity on Gaf is the complete opposite in the real world. Community being watched the least, Modern Family the most.

Modern Family isn't discussed a lot on GAF, but it's a ratings winner and an awards winner for ABC. It's also probably the best sitcom on television.

Modern Family on course to reaching Arrested Development level of quality. Really sad that TV viewers didnt pick up on THAT show or it would still be on air. Still TV has hope with shows like MF

It's at least equally as good (although it got a bit weaker by the end.) And, no:

Quote:
This wickedly funny Emmy-winning sitcom follows the tribulations of the Bluths, a wealthy California clan gone to the dogs after paterfamilias and real estate tycoon George Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor) gets busted for fraud. Now long-suffering son Michael (Jason Bateman) keeps the family business afloat as he spars with his boozy mother (Jessica Walter), vapid siblings (Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett and Tony Hale) and other wildly dysfunctional relatives.
Sorry for the cheesy Netflix description but it gets the job done, seriously, go watch it.

I thought it was a good episode, although not as funny as last week's or the week before. Really enjoyed the Claire stuff.

I don't like that Haley is suddenly just going to college in the fall though. Waaaay too cliche. It's been established that she isn't the brightest bulb in the box, and there have been plenty of comments about her not being smart enough to get into college, never studying, etc. Now she's already been accepted, and is leaving so soon? C'mon.

phil was just showing haley his old college to try and get her interesting in going to one. she hasnt been accepted to one. i doubt the writers will move her into college that fast, especially one away from home unless they plan on cutting her out of the show for the most part.
