Revenge |OT| The Count of Monte Cri- The Hamptons
#1
![]() Wednesdays @ 10 on ABC Synopsis: Wealth, beauty and status define the people in this town, but one woman is willing to destroy everyone for the sake of revenge. Emily Thorne (Emily Van Camp) is new to the Hamptons. She's met some of her wealthy neighbors, has made a few new friends and seemingly blends into the town. But something is a little odd about a young girl living in a wealthy town all on her own, and the truth is that Emily isn't exactly new to the neighborhood. In fact, this was once her old neighborhood, until something bad happened that ruined her family and their reputation. Now Emily is back, and she's returned to right some of those wrongs in the best way she knows how – with a vengeance. See the trailer here So, the pilot just aired. What'd you guys think? I think it'd decent, albeit a bit soapy and silly. But... I see potential here. Interesting to see the obvious good guy love interest be the dude who might have offed her "fiancee". Also, that tech geek amuses me. The main girl should take him up on his offer of help, but nooo, it's all "That girl is dead, I am The Punisher", but cuter. What a strange poster. Why would I even use that?

I like this better than "Ringer". It's so much darker and the acting are actually convincing. I like how Emily is all sweetness in public but you can clearly see her angry vengeful nature when she's alone.
And that beginning quote from Confucious gave me a nice shiver. The show can end in seriously dark note if the writers have the balls to not go the cliche way of ending a story. As a side note, what sorcery is Madeleine Stowe practicing? She looks amazing and doesn't look older than when I last saw her in "The Last of the Mohicans". I want to know whose virgin blood she bathes in. And oh, it did quite well in the ratings: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/201...ge-8/#comments

So, new episode tonight! What'd everyone think?
It's still ok to me. The bit with the bar owner dad guy's heart attack was a bit overwrought, but not too bad asides from that. I liked the whole financial downfall method of taking the guy down a peg. And hey! Emily's dad had an affair with Victoria. And she's pissed at her husband for doing what she did 15 years ago? Tsk tsk tsk, hypocrite. The Nolan dude continues to amuse me. Him and Emily should team up more often instead of him just rudely inserting himself into the situation at hand. |

Still not on the west coast, but I'm happy for Mike Kelley. I liked Swingtown and I'm glad he's finding some success. I hope the ratings can stabilize in the mid 2s.
EDIT: The promo of Victoria turning into Emily was nice. Liked it.

An interesting interview with the creator of 'Revenge', Mike Kelley, on where the show will go as it continues:
Mildly spoiler-ish, but not much actually. http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/09/24/re...ageID=20302134

Great episode, probably the best one so far. Still totally the best new show of the season IMO.
I like that they aren't making Victoria a one dimensional villain. I actually wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that she teams up with Emily at the end considering she actually did love Emily's father. |

This show is shockingly good. The whole plot seems like something you'd find on the CW but it's really strong.
It's probably my favorite new show this season. It has a bit of cheese and I could do without the Declin/charlotte/adam part so far as it seems like filler that doesn't relate to the plot at this point. Declin is written ridiculous, imo. I can see calling your father a loser but afterwords. Even days still acting that way. It's hard to believe a character like Jack would just stand there and listen to him say some of those things. I'd beat my little brothers ass. |

Great episode, Daniel's friend is super shady. Does he really just want his drinking buddy back? Or is there more to this? (Obviously the latter.)
I'm still not convinced that Victoria is the 100% evil ice queen that they are trying to lead us to believe. I know there will be some huge reveal that will turn things on it's head. Next week looks intense. |

I dunno, Victoria is incredibly scummy... she had a 9 year old Amanda institutionalized. Plus, she claims to be in love with Emily's dad in the past, but she pretty much fucked him over and destroyed his and Amanda's lives.
At least we know this Daniel/Emily animosity won't last, since the pilot had them at the engagement party. It'd be interesting if Daniel's friend was another revenge-driven individual related to the plane bombing. That would be an interesting twist. |

The lead actress is great at presenting the quiet, no emotion look but you can feel it below the surface. |

The latest episode sealed it for me, this show is slightly trashy, but surprisingly well written fun. Definitely a keeper.
I'm loving Victoria and Nolan, the actors are nailing the roles.

I can't stand Madeleine Stowe... she's so campy and over the top. I realize the show is aiming to be a guilty please, but it's getting a little much.
Mike Kelley is a nice guy and I liked Swingtown, though. Good for him on the full season and the show's success. |
