I liked it... It didn't add anything to the plot, but at least it gave more context on some events of the show...

Anyway, anyone afraid now that the series has been renewed to a 2nd season that they might not keep the pace up?

Whenever a serialized show tries to do a prequel episode, they always fuck it up and contradict the current continuity of the show, which I'm sure they did here. I just tried to turn my brain off and enjoy it though. It was cool to see all the old characters from episodes-past turn up again. I rather like Mason Treadwell, even if he's a bit of a douche. "Oh you murdered somebody because I sent you an anonymous threat and you thought it came from him -- oh well, whatever."

It still bothers me that Victoria's security dude man had no recollection of Amanda in the present day, even though they had a couple relatively close encounters in the past and she was doing some pretty conspicuous shit.

I don't know what they were trying to accomplish with Nolan at the bar, kissing Jack's girlfriend.

Yeah, it really didn't add much. They do flashbacks enough on the show that a whole episode devoted to it felt a little unnecessary. Jack's hair was especially awful too... haha.

Yeah, that bugged me as well. Ok, fine, Victoria didn't recognize Amanda because to her, she was just this serving girl and never gave Amanda a second thought, so the memory of what she looked like disappeared quickly.

But Frank should have remembered her. Being an experienced investigator and in security (both of which requires a good eye and memory) he should have recognized Amanda later on. And as you said, she was also doing some pretty conspicuous shit at the party, so that would have helped imprint her in Frank's head.

Honestly, I think it's pretty sad that he was taken out by a stripper. Definitely should have been more ready and wary of her when meeting her outside in the dark. You call Victoria AFTER you talk to the girl, get the information and leave.

But overall, I liked the episode. I thought it gave good backstory on why Emily went down her revenge road. I just wish they would have gone (or will go) into how she met up with Sanada, and how he trains her to take revenge.

I don't like the character at all, but i absolutely loved him on that scene. They could have keep him that way in the future, instead of trying to gave him a glimpse of a conscience :P

Yeah, that was kind of weird... It would be okay if Amanda had stayed low... Though, that's like what? 10 years before the show started? Perhaps we should assume that back then Amanda looked rather different, and they can't reproduce it properly due the actress XD

Jack on the beginning of the show hated Nolan. This was probably a cheap attempt to explain it...

If Amanda had known from the start that the Graysons were capable of outright murder, I suspect it would have shaped her investigation a lot differently and made her a great deal more cautious than she has been.

The bigger issue raised by the episode is that it also makes no sense for the Graysons to have completely lost track of Amanda -- especially if they were intent on keeping such close tabs on anyone remotely related to the David Clarke affair. They can have people murdered inside a high-security federal prison, but they cannot get a recent photograph of a girl in a juvenile detention facility?

I guess I'm a little concerned about the Clarke trial as well. Amanda's father had the whole thing figured out, but never mounted a defense based around being framed? He never bothered to accuse the Graysons?

As I said earlier, it's best to let the past be vague in shows like this. Flashback episodes only cause issues and introduce weird retcons.

The preview did look good. I know Nolan must be alright and Emily is going to save him obviously but I want to know how and if she's really going to kill the dude.

My girlfriend cried like a baby during the last episode. As soon as I saw Amandemily digging a grave, I correctly and vocally guessed who it was for, but that didn't lessen the emotional impact for her.

What are the odds on Nolan making it out of this season alive? I think they need to keep him around because he's such an integral part of how the show works -- Amandemily needs him to stay around to set up surveillance, hack emails, leak documents, etc, etc. My GF seems to think he is a goner, as much as she loves him. I don't think we will get through the season finale without the death of a major character though.

I really don't like that things are expanding to encompass what is obviously a much wider conspiracy that goes beyond David Clarke and the Graysons, with the white haired man's shadowy organization. It makes think we will spend potentially years unraveling things, when the situation could have easily been tied together in a season or two.

I think Nolan will make it through the season alive, but part of that is probably hope. He's hilarious. Also I agree with you Inanna. I was surprised Nolan thought he pulled one over on white-haired guy. WHG seemed super suspicious when Nolan was messing with his cable. Must have been the mustache that tipped him off.

Unfortunately, I think Nolan dies... Emily needs this final push to get back on track on her path of revenge.

Very nice episode overall, that scene with sammy was very touching. That Victoria/Lydia thing, as well Charlotte calling out on Declan for having another girl already (specially she had been with other guy herself) felt kind of out of place, though...

Although Revenge is renewed for Season 2, I can't see where else it can go. If she completes her revenge, what else is there left?

Or if something goes wrong in the season finale...and she can't go through with her plan, it'll be another dragged plot imo.

Guess i'll have to wait and see what happens in the season finale.

Thanks pal, same to you. My girl was a 13 year old boxer *sigh* I didn't have the chance to say goodbye to her because I moved recently from my parents home to another city u_u.

On Topic:

About Nolan: He lives... at least he's alive during the next episode. There's a picture floating around of him and Emanda chained to a wall. I'll search for it and post it here. ETA: it's here, complete with Sneak Peeks.

"Amanda" coming back was predictable.

Kinda curious to see which direction they take this show in now that emily has given up the revenge route. That was until the mother stuff came up, seems like her revenge just needed some fuel.

I did not see Faux Amanda coming back at all, ugh! That baby has to be fake!

I doubt that Victoria is dead but I guess Lydia is gone for good which I don't mind since her character was just there without doing much.

Surprised that the White Haired Man didn't tell Conrad about Emily's identity.

Poor Charlotte.

I wasn't shocked that much about the twist with Emily's mom after the White Haired Man mentioned her during the fight.

So ready for season 2!!!

Awesome finale.

I'm pretty sure Victoria isn't dead. I wouldn't be surprised if the WHM smuggled her off to use her as leverage against Conrad.

The mother reveal was cool, though it was telegraphed a bit too much earlier in the episode. (At least they didn't say her father was alive, that would of been overboard.)

Ashley & Daniel? DNW. I think Ashley has the potential to be a good character, but they are so random with her.

I knew Amanda would be back, but the real question is, where is Takeda? Did Amanda escape, or is this also part of his plans...?

Nolan needs some hot man lovin' next season.

Why didn't Emily kill Bill? Went that far and develop a conscious for a guy who allegedly killed her father?

Also from tvline:

Quote:
TVLINE | There had been talk from you and some of the cast about a couple of deaths at the end of the season, and yet no one seemed to die in the finale. Who were you all referring to?

I’ll tell you that there was a death, for sure. There are at least three people in jeopardy, and one that you didn’t know about. There is definitely a major death that occurred last night. You’ll know in the first episode [of Season 2] who is gone and why.

TVLINE | Is it someone we know well and will miss?

Yes, it’s an important death. At least one of the characters will have died, and it’s going to be difficult for fans to [accept].

God, I hope it isn't Victoria. Loved her present to Emily and Daniel last night.

At least 3 in jeopardy? We have Charlotte, Lydia, and Victoria. Am I missing someone else that would justify the 'at least'? And if it is an important character, that would eliminate Lydia as she was non-existent for over half the season. Unless it is one of those 'well, her testimony would be important' excuses.

I think the death will probably be the person who was in danger off-camera. Why would he even mention it otherwise? For some reason, I thinking it's Conrad.

And if it's not and it's only one death, it would most likely be Lydia over Victoria, if it's someone on the plane. I don't think they'd spare Lydia over the Queen of the Hamptons. (And I don't think Lydia would fit the "major" description.)

Plus, I don't think they'd get rid of Charlotte without having the time to explore her relationship with Emily.

Though, what if Fauxmanda killed Takeda? That would suck. :(

I've said it before, I really don't like that they've decided to tack on this bit about some super-shadowy terrorist organization......feels like a bad way to extend the show.

It makes no sense that Amanda would reveal her secret, then spare the white-haired terrorist only to let him leave and wreak further havoc. Unbeknownst to anyone he snuck up on Nolan in his own home and could have easily killed him.....there's nothing to stop him from doing that again (especially since all that "extra security" Nolan hired after Tyler kidnapped him seems to have mysteriously disappeared). She didn't have to murder him, but at least she could have turned him over to the authorities.

Just finished the season. What an exciting, soapy delight that was. Emily and Nolan are such a great team. Loved Nolan's "I'm not worthy" when she saved him.

Victoria better not be dead!!! There is too much potential for greatness in having her team up with Emily at some point.

I was expecting Fauxmanda's return, but not in that way... Such a hilarious soap-opera twist and yet it somehow felt perfectly satisfying to me.

I love James Morrison, so i hope he's back in a greater capacity next season.

Victoria's the only one that i'd miss. It would be such a waste to kill her off before finding out who Emily really is.

Just marathoned through this season in the past few days. It was often silly (sensei :lol) and soapy, but still enjoyable and fun as hell. I sure hope Victoria's still alive, she really makes this show (the empty box engagement present was PERFECT). Hope the death was Charlotte (and Lydia, just cause). Oh, kill Declan too, he really only brings the show down. I figured Emily's mother would eventually make an appearance so I wasn't exactly surprised by the ending but I'm curious to see where it goes next season.

Oh, and Nolan is the best character on this show, so good.

Oh, yesterday a friend of mine watched the finale and he was all shocked, lol

I don't think either Charlotte or Victoria died simply because, first, Charlotte hasn't learned about Emily's identity. And in Victoria's case, Mike Kelley said in an interview that his plan for the finale of the series would be a showdown between Emily and Victoria with the latter finding out about Emily's plan and stuff.

He also said in another interview prior to the finale that one of the people who appeared in the flashback episode who was taken down by Emily during the first episodes would die in the finale and only Lydia would fit with that description. I don't mind her dying but I guess it sucks that she survived the fall from the building just to die here, heh.

But of course, things can change.

My guess: it will be Charlotte taking the permanent dirt nap.

- There's just no way they would kill off Victoria; she's a big part of making the show as much of a guilty pleasure as it is.
- It's the one character death that resonates with all of the major players.
- They just introduced Declan's new romantic interest.

I do like the idea of Amanda nearly killing revenge sensei....if only because she'd be due for a bit of payback.
