I don't know how you could say to Cancel The Simpsons and Leave Family Guy on the Air if anything they should cancel family guy and The Cleveland show because American Dad is the only good one out of those 3.

I am also not a fan of Bob's Burgers but it's an okay show.

The NMA animation was kind of funny. It was funny seeing it referenced but it wasn't actually funny.

I don't find myself rewatching Cleveland epsiodes, I do with Family Guy. While I can see the quaility is going down slowly, I don't mind it still. However I do think Family Guy should do one last good season and cancle The Simpsons. Heck give The Simpsons a break and then reboot it.

Wow American Dad was awesome, I usually don't like musical numbers(see family guy) but these were actually funny/relevant to the story, I had a smile on my face the whole time.

Major props to Cee Lo Green, he did a great job singing and playing the hot tub, now that's how you do a guest spot! Now I'm actually looking forward to next weeks episode to see what happens to everyone lol

American Dad is legit funny.

Family Guy, Simpsons and Cleveland Show seem to be running on fumes. It's like the writers don't really know what to do with their characters anymore. With Simpsons it's somewhat understandable but what's Family Guy and Cleveland Show's excuse? The shows just lack coherent creative direction.

You guys are making me really sad that I missed American Dad tonight, it's currently one of my favorite shows on TV. :(

Will there be any re-runs, or will I have to wait until Adult Swim airs it in a week or two?

American Dad was great!

The music and songs were pretty damn good. Strange ending. I hope they somehow refer to this in the following episode, because I would find it a bit lazy to just have Stan alive again and pretend nothing has happened.

Ok, look what wikipedia says:

Trivia

During a live streaming broadcast on Hulu that took place on September 22nd, 2011, the show's staff revealed that when they wrote this episode they thought the show was not going to be renewed and this episode was going to be the series finale, hence why Stan and Francine die at the end.
Damn. That would've been an amazing series finale. Also explains the ending.

Also, the songs were written by Jorm Taccone. This guy from The Lonely Island (left one).

Makes sense. The songs in the episode could just as easily have been TLI songs.

My favorite line was from Francine: "Is that a bubblin' sound I'm hurrin? There's water everywhurrin..." (Simply genius.)

Family Guy and Cleveland Show were dreadful as usual, absolutely no sense of heart or humanity in those shows. The aimless, picked out of a hat storylines could be forgiven if there were even one character we could root for. But instead we have to put up with another season of irredeemable stories and sociopathic characters.

Singing is the lowest form of entertainment... Yet AD was by the far the best episode this weekend. I skipped many of the songs but still it was awesome ride from start to end. Hopefully Bob's Burger is going back to soon.

I didn't record American Dad. I switched to fios and have not set up all my previous series recordings. Guess I'll be downloading it. Sounds amazing as usual.

I still can't comprehend how American Dad and Family Guy were created by the same people, but Family Guy is so terrible and American Dad is so brilliant

I always assumed that McFarlane just plastered his name on it as the "creator", giving it a chance of success, but that the actual team writing the show vastly differs from the Family Guy one (and that McFarlane only does some voice acting on American Dad). I mean, otherwise it simply doesn't make sense. Family Guy and American Dad are -except for the visuals- miles apart in quality and content.

Seth McFarlane is a great voice actor. That's...about it.

Loved that the hot tub store was called Little Shop of Hot Tubs. Just tied everything together really well.

American Dad was funny but not exactly my taste. Family Guy was dumb - they're writing has really fallen by the way side. I miss the simpler days with evil Stewie. All these elaborate, big storylines with people acting like assholes don't amuse me.

I haven't seen The Simpsons yet but I enjoyed last season so I have my hopes high.

Long live Bob's Burgers.

Well, he did help create it. Apparently it was something he, Mike Barker, and Matt Weitzman came up with at a bar one night. The three of them were going to work on the show together as Executive Producers just like they did with Family Guy. However, when Family Guy got renewed suddenly for a fourth season McFarlane left Mike, and Matt in charge so he could go back to his pet project.

No. He's heavily involved with every one of his shows, CS, FG, or AD otherwise. It boggles my fucking mind as well.

Uh, no. He pretty much only voices

As the floor was opened to questions, a number of them were directed at MacFarlane and were of the "where do you get your ideas" variety. MacFarlane was quick to point out that his day-to-day involvement on American Dad was significantly less than it was on The Family Guy and he gave credit to the head writers on American Dad, Matt Weitzman and Mike Barker.
Mike and Matt are the real culprits

AD knocked it outta the park. I managed to enjoy Family Guy a lot as well, but it was 2nd tier for sure.

I don't know how you could equate last night's Family Guy with that Simpsons episode, though. Christ. That Simpsons was just plain painful to watch.

people hated family guy in general for the random clips. then the producers tried to reduce the amount and push character interaction, but that isnt as much fun, see

so in the end, i hope they get back more random clips and less elaborate storyline. that is what american dad is for. i still enjoyed this season opening

I watched AD last night, wouldn't have minded if that was the last episode since it was perfectly executed, was pretty pissed when Stan Smith died at the end as I was expecting the 'come-back'. Hah. I just hope that they get a heads up whenever Fox decides to cancel the show so that they do get to properly end it.

The Daddy's Gone song is up on iTunes now, must get!

I don't understand this reasoning. Family Guy is getting bad so it must be Seths fault, meanwhile American Dad is amazing so he must have nothing to do with it? I mean, we don't talk trash abut Matt Groening because the Simpsons massive decline in quality, instead we praise him for "moving on" to Futurama. It's like people want to hate the guy so they just make stuff up to justify it.

American Dad was great. It's been more consistently funny to me over the past few years as well. Only thing about it though is that the characters must not mesh with others as well. Stan, Rodger, and Klaus are great (as is Avery at times), but outside of them, the others are bleh. Family Guy seems to have more "likable" characters I guess.

Francine is quite the awesome character too. The only character that I consider poorly written is Haley. She's too stereotypical "liberal hippie daughter of conservative family".
