New Hunter x Hunter Anime |OT| of Hunters and adventure and NO MANGA SPOILERS

smurfx

get some go again
So as someone who has only watched the original tv series and has not been following this,s orry if it has been already been answered:

Is this like FMA Brotherhood where they cover the already told story faster till they catch up to the point where they left off? What's the episode that they begin the new story? Thanks.
no its pretty much exactly as how things happened in the manga. i recommend you watch from the beginning.

The latest episode was fucking awesome. The back story to Gyro was a welcomed addition imo. It was pretty sad and gets you to understand his character better and I really liked the black and white filter going on. Now moving to the ants, shit is hitting the fan. Those deaths were insane. From the beheading and the constant shooting of the corpse, it's pretty much a sight to see. Gon and crew showing up to see the remains of Panzou's leftovers gave me chills.

Next episode is going to be AWESOME!

I forgot to mention that I do find it so funny when the next episode preview music kicks in. It gives you a sense of adventure when everything in this arc is dark. :lol

Btw, did Gon and Killua realize that
it was Ponzu who got killed? I wanna say they recognize her bees, but they didn't name drop her at all.

Poor Ponzu, and soon to be Poor Pokkle :(

I could have done without the 10 min backstory of a character we never saw or will see again though.

I think it was shown this episode with the chimera ant Colt unconsciously mentioning Reina that aspects of their human personalities from before they were devoured remain when they are born as ants.

hypothetically,

could killua's gramps and dad fight the final boss and beat him ?

and could the entire spider group beat all of the royal guards ?

This fucking ant will never not disturb me.

Why is he red? I had hoped it was just the lightning in the op but apparently not. I don't like it :I

Maybe to both? I mean, they're pretty damn powerful too.

Better here than when they were originally in the manga at least.

No to both, though Kuroro's ability is a bit of a wild card but it's unfair to speculate that.

Manga spoilers of course:
Yeah there is a ton of dispair in this arc. Arguably the only people strong enough to fight the stronger Chimera Ants are Netero, Ging, and Gon after that incident. Maybe a few others.

anyone know when the soundtracks usually get released? I have the OST 1, OST 2 and Phantom Rouge OST... love listening to them over and over. -__-;

Assuming there will be an OST 3 that is.

I wonder if well get one, I dont even think they even did Greed Island character songs either :(

They'd better release it dag nabbit! I just watched ep 80 and I can definitely hear new music in there. There's sure to be a LOT of new music with all the new characters coming up. not to mention the new outro and stuff.

BTW I am really in love with the Phantom Rouge soundtrack... I wasn't sure I liked it at first but it really grew on me. The BRD of the film can't come fast enough.

He is just too brokenly powerful. Ridiculously so.

Uh, not that I mind, but didn't we just have a conversation on the last page about spoilers?

Edit: Yes Cosmic, that would be possible.

Ponzu's death just solidifies why I love this manga and show so much.
Out of f'ing nowhere you bring back a character people liked that you easily could and left alones and she dies HORRIBLY.
Togashi's love of horror continues to march on. He doesn't waste any threads or characters

There are some brutal fights coming up.

Killua fighting that team of Ants comes to mind.
Cannot wait, but its going to require some clever angles and cut aways to be shown on tv.

I just watched the Shin York Spoilers
Chrollo vs. Zeno and Silva fight

The Nen types are always confusing, you'd think Zeno and Silva would have Emission type to do the stuff they are doing, but they are transmuters.

I just found out Miss Universe Japan 2013 says that Leorio is her type

Everyone can use every type of nen iirc, it's just a matter of their core type vs the type they're using. So just because someone might be Reinforcement, they can still use an effective Emission attack. The aforementioned Emission attack though, will never have the same potential power as their Reinforcement attack (this isn't true for Specialization users like Chrollo and Kurapika - they can use each type 100%). A bit more detail and actual practical application of this is around the Hisoka vs whatever-his-name-is fight with at the tower.

If you want even more detail, it's whenever Kurapika is being trained nen. Can't remember if it was in the manga and/or old/new anime.

Wowowowow calm down a bit there man! Chrollo can't do that. Red-eyed Kurapika is the only one who can do that (I assume everyone in his clan could though).
Specialization's definition is everyone who can't be categorized in any other type (or *ahem* someone who can be categorized in all types equally, see Kurapika).

Chrollo's ability might be versatile enough to steal Kurapika's red eyes ability? I don't know, I don't think so... else Chrollo could just steal anyone's ability to max out his own type (like steal Uvo's reinforcement trait), that just seems wrong. But who knows, it depends on how Kurapika defines his own ability whether it's his chain or his red eyes trait.

Also remember that it's not necessarily true that someone can max out his own type to "100%". Someone's type is defined as the type he has most affinity to but it doesn't have to be 100%. Like, Gon might be (just to make this concrete, this is out of my butt) 95% Reinforcement and 85% Emission or something, instead of 100% and 80%.

Hmm yeah seems that way. Specialists have a particular specialist ability (from the Wikia):

If a student causes some other effect during their water divination, they are a Specialist (特質系 Tokushitsukei). It is possible that the effect that occurs can give some insight into how they should direct their ability. Specialization is anything that doesn't belong into the other five categories. This is the vaguest Hatsu category. For example, Kurapika's Specialist ability allows him to use all Hatsu types at 100% efficiency. Chrollo Lucilfer's Specialist ability allows him to steal any other Nen ability (provided that the right conditions have been fulfilled). Neon Nostrade's specialization ability is unique, as it seems she uses only the abilities of Conjurer and Manipulator out of any of the other five Hatsu types. It is possible to become a Specialist later in life, although it is more likely for Manipulators or Conjurers which is why it is placed at the bottom of the chart.

The gist is still there: You can use multiple types.

I can't say I'm confident with that explanation.. how does Neon use Conjurer or Manipulation? She doesn't create any item that can be seen by normal people. She does manipulate her own arm but using manipulation to manipulate yourself is a bit hard to accept, it doesn't fit (which is why I'd say she's specialization). Pakunoda's ability doesn't really use a combination of types either, just Emission for her memory bullets (though with the same Neon way of thinking you could say she uses Conjurer and Manipulation too, like you could say about like... every non-standard ability ever).

Obviously every ability can use every type, but to say they can use multiple types because they're Specialization is I don't know

I guess my question comes to whether in most situations a beam from an emitter or a beam by a transmuter will be stronger in most cases. I guess it would make sense that since Silva doesn't need to have the nen balls out too long before they hit someone. Zeno though had his dragon thing out for awhile, and what transmutation quality would that have even had? Whenever Killua uses electicity nen or Hisoka uses bungee gum, they are technically using emission nen. I guess an emitter that concentrates on the quality of their beams, with 60% transmutation could be on even ground with a transmuter using 60% emitter.

Do enhancers enhance nen beams at all or is that purely emitter only?

Did they ever specify if manipulator has anything to do with the ability to manipulate nen outside of the body like when emitter lets nen out of their body and moves it? It would make sense, but the description on the wiki's only mention controlling organic and inorganic things.

I think a beam from an emitter would be more focused or controlled and by extension more efficient or more powerful on a 'per nen expenditure' basis or whatever. A beam produced by a transmuter would have an easier time carrying additional properties though.

I don't know about using emission nen though, to go with the Killua example if you transmute your nen into electricity it's going to naturally want to flow or arc somewhere because that's a property of electricity, you'd maybe use a bit of emission to control it but it would have some natural 'momentum' already just due to its physical properties. And with bungee gum Hisoka is still just altering the properties of his nen to expand/contract, etc. It seems different to me somehow.

Dunno about how emitters compare to transmutators, but considering
Netero
and Razor are both emitters, it doesn't seem insignificant at all. Zeno is the only one I can think about that uses emission to his strength rather than as a utility to make his ability more versatile or whatever (unlike
Morau, Knuckle and Shoot who use emission to give their ability better application, and probably require much lower affinity with emission to use
), so he might just be an exception to the norm.

I do remember someone saying in the manga that manipulation includes controlling free aura outside of your body (Biscuit in GI?
Biscuit during the Knuckle and Shoot training?
), but maybe I'm mistaken. Makes sense as it's closely related to emission

Kurapika figma (amiami page image-linked above). Not bad, I'll be getting it along with the previously announced Gon and Killua figures!

Wonder what will be next... it would have to be either Leorio or Hisoka. Hoping for Hisoka though.

Has anyone seen that Hunter x Hunter movie that came out in theaters in Japan earlier this year?

I remember seeing promo's for it, but I haven't heard anyone mention how it was. I'm all the more interested in it since the Spiders play a large role in the story, including a former member we didn't see in the manga.

Really? What was bad about it exactly?
The plot is terrible and all over the place (for example, you'd think the movie is about Kurapika and the Troupe, right? you'd think that...). I couldn't list you all the flaws I've heard about (that was a few months ago, and I haven't see the movie myself), but there was a bunch of them. You can definitely tell the TV staff, not Togashi, wrote that one.
