+1 for Delivery Status Touch. I have used it for a few years now and love it. I send tracking info to my customers through it and have had more than a few buy the app after seeing it.

MyFitnessPal app for iPhone and iPad if you're into a calorie and workout tracker. It's free and I've used various other trackers and this one is definitely th best.

Is Sparrow actually good/useful? Or is it just a hyped up pretty package that doesn't really add much or is totally useless, like Clear.

Sparrow bought. I've heard too much about it not to give it a whirl. I hear a jailbreak can actually make it a default mail client.

So tempted by Sparrow, but rarely check mail on my phone - what are the main benefits? A lot of the features are present in the main Mail app

Thinking of ditching my jailbreak soon too, so won't be able to set it as my default client

If you create a free US iTunes account, you can download it from another country. The app doesn't have any IP checking, so it works in other countries, unlike the website.

Highly recommended.
Cheers for that, a really nice find.

Got it now, looks nice, works great. But I accidentally discarded the animation showing how to browse through all items of a delivery from the main screen, and now I just can't figure out how to do it.

edit: Double Tap, ha! Thought it was some swipe gesture.

Eh, it just makes things you can do with the stock app easier and prettier. But the fact that it doesn't do push, and the jailbreak tweak sparrow+ is down and out for this version and even sparrow push tweak is out dated, really hurt it.

I like it regardless though, the interface is nice and the ease at which I can delete and categorize my mail is much much better than the stock app. But for the average user just getting their gmail, stick with stock app... or not for $.99 its worth the effort, and maybe the boost in sales and critiques might help make it a better application!

I bought Sparrow when it first came out and opened the app once. They went on for weeks about how push was going to come "with or without Apple". 4 months later, still nothing - not even a blog post about progress/status/cost.

Without push the app is just useless IMO. Doesn't even have time-based fetch ffs.

To be fair, fetch has the same technical issues as push. Sparrow needs to either be able to always run in the background (which Apple doesnt currently allow) or Sparrow needs to host the push/fetch themselves (which they don't want to do).

I'm actually surprised by the number of people who mention this indicating they use push. I can't stand it. I get Email's constantly in most of my accounts. I'll check them enough I don't need an update every 5-15-20 minutes. For time sensitive communications I'd rather they not rely on email anyway. They have other means of contacting me.

The much bigger issue to me with Sparrow is the lack of Exchange support. Sparrow is basically a nice Gmail client.

I tried using sparrow for a month, it looks really nice and all but the problem is the lack of push email. So I remedied the situation by downloading sparrow+. It works great for push email, but the downside is that it keeps working in the background and also a battery hog, my phone only lasted half a day.
If my standby time is 6 hours, the usage time would be 6 hours too.

On my laptop I use a launcher and love it. It lets me access different applications and tasks very quickly just using my keyboard. So the idea of one on iOS interests me.

I wasn't sure you could pull that off in iOS. Turns out, it looks like you can't. Launch Center Pro only supports a small list of apps and like you said most of those is just to launch the app (yay! it lets me launch Angry Birds or Zenonia 3... what?). A few let you launch the app and jump into a specific function, but either way that's two clicks.

If somone has tried this and found it to actually be useful, please say so.

Are you serious? The official Twitter client on iOS seems to get worse with every update, and the Mac version hasn't been updated for over a year.

Tweetbot is much better. iCloud sync alone (timeline, DM read status, and mute filters) makes it the superior choice.

Maybe so but they pretty much do the same things, even if it's as slick as can be, it's still the same thing but in a slightly different packaging. It may very well be much better but I'm curious why it gets the level of love it does. Good PR maybe...

- gestures to see conversation, @replies, tweet detail view, reply, etc
- access to my different lists by tapping on the top header
- streaming support (no need to pull to refresh)
- customizable tab bar (search, favorites, profile, retweets, etc)
- mute filter for users, hashtags, keywords, etc
- integrated readability/mobilizer for links which reformats text for mobile devices
- integrated instapaper and other read later services.
- icloud syncing of timelines, lists, etc
- option to both retweet and quote tweet (RT with comment, via @username, etc)

Yeah, Tweetbot is first class.

Can anyone please recommend me a good HTPC remote for using Plex? (very similar setup to XBMC)

I've tried using LogMeIn but honestly it's a bit naff, and just simulates the mouse/keyboard, wasn't sure if there was anything better out there. Cheers!

That is the problem with Launch Center Pro; a very limited app selection. Apps communicate via URLs and therefore it all depends on if the app maker added that ability (and then LCP adding them).

These sites are decent resources for what apps have URL hooks that you may be able to use (I've created an icon on my home screen that launches an email to my Toodledoo account to quickly add a task), but for now at least while LCP is a good idea it seems too limited to be useful.

Really wish Tweetbot would ditch iCloud and do something on their own for syncing ala Echofon, since I really like having Twitter on my PC as well. Would probably push me over to them from Echofon. (Although I wish Tweetbot would get a better app icon, it's terribly ugly)

I am glad you mentioned echofon because I have been using them for well over here, and they have had this sinking which is been great. Are you Echofon solely because they remember my position of my tweets on iPhone, iPad, and the desktop. I really wish echofon got more credit for this.

It has tweetmarker support as well. Tweetbot doesn't have a PC client and probably never will, so making their own sync service wouldn't really help you?

Right so a new potential consumer knows nothing about this thing, notices some fuss and asks what the big deal is because he's curious about investing and he gets this kind of response? No wonder I'm dubious about how genuinely good this product is or whether it's just a bunch of cultish fanboys - hardly a rarity on a gaming site!

He's an Apple fanboy. Don't question any Apple-exclusive product or you're going to get it.

FWIW, Tweetbot is well worth the money but I wouldn't say it's life changing. I bought it for both iPhone and iPad because I personally love it but for most people, I'd say the regular free Twitter client is good enough... that is, if you really don't want to spend money for Tweetbot. Obviously, if the price isn't too big of a deal I would definitely get it. Depends how much you use Twitter, I guess.
