Good episode, but I am kinda disappointed in how they handled the scene with Kiritsugu's battle plan before Caster showed up. In the novel, Iri see's for the first time her husband's Magus Killer personality, to which the Einzbern's hired him for, and it caught her completely off guard, shaking her a bit, wondering about her husband's identity. This does make their scene together outside much stronger, as Iri see's his breakdown and realizes that he truly is no longer the man he used to be, that its more of a mask now than it was then.
From what I remember, the scene with Father Kotomine suspending the Grail War to go after Caster and his master happens after the scene with Rider getting his mail order package. Also very minor nitpick in the tech being used such as the laptops being more modern than the way they used to look back in 1994.

Studio DEEN did drop the ball on more than a few things (the hardcore FSN fans will tell you EVERYTHING was bad, but...::shrugs::) but it was still a good story all on its own, however I do agree that the VN are much better. |

Episode 7
![]() Waver and Rider are the best. I love how he gets so worked up, though in the end is always willing to do for Rider. That is how I imagine ones relationship with their servant should be. However I greatly dislike how they treat Saber. Kiritsugu seems to not even care about her and ignores all but Maiya at times, and even worst, only irisviel cares about Saber. I will be mad if their downfall is because of Kiritsugu's incompetence. Though his fight with the mage was pretty cool. I was hoping Waver would defeat the mage though, which doesnt seem likely based on the title for the next episode, if a mage will truly be killed. I hope Ryuunosuke gets more screentime. ..and the conditions for losing in this war need to spelled out, is it elimination if master is killed? |

Am I alone in being kinda okay with the Caster/Ryu censorship? I mean, the pillar-shots felt really awkward(even before I knew they were censoring something), but at the same time I think that the show benefited from not shoving child-torture/mutilation in the viewer's face.
I feel like the show is walking a very narrow line between generic anime and "SO DARK AND EDGY, MAN," and it'll lose a lot of the magic if it strays too far in either direction. A good example was Caster's introductory scene. They didn't show anything, but it was still both chilling and brutal. |

Episode 8
![]() That was hot. I think Irisviel is definitely up there now as one of my favorite characters in this first half of the anime. Sure she ended up being defeated but that falcon bird was hot and she even bound Kirie The first half of the episode was cool. Kayneth v Kiritsugu will remain a memorable part of the series. |

Basically, it tears down the opponent's Magic Circuits, then connects it back together incorrectly so that it can't be repaired. The more mana the opponent uses against the bullet, the further the damage goes.

Loved the episode though, even if I was hoping Rider would pop out and start randomly running over Cthuluoids like driving around a freaking racetrack. And just like every other episode, maybe even moreso, I can't help but wonder what the uncensored cut of this ep will contain considering this one was fairly graphic compared to prior. |

Same reason why Kiritsugu meticulously planned out how to surprise Kayneth last week, but decided to shout out his name before he even attacked. Lol.

For episode 9, I must say that this anime continues to be one where little to no action still makes for an interesting and watchable show.
![]() Rider and Waver continue to make the show utterly worthwhile. I did think it odd that they were the only ones actually focused on taking down Caster, who, by the way, is never around Ryuunusuke apparently? Is he going to forever be hidden behind the scenes? This is my favorite team as I love their bond and one must admit, it would be great if Waver rose to the occasion and enhances his mage skills to actually continue to survive in this. Is a Kayneth, Sola-Ui, Lancer love complex forming? Hopefully Lancer has learned from his past with getting involved in a relationship with a married woman and will avoid any action with Sola-Ui. Kayneth is just uninteresting and made me wonder how he got involved with Sola-Ui who seems like she has ulterior motives not in line with her husband. It seemed that she lied to Lancer’s face about what she wants to with the Holy Grail though, but I think she is actually falling for Lancer… |

Also, sadly, Rin never found Kotone in the novel nor encountered Ryuunosuke. |

Edit: It's like how people who never read A Song of Ice and Fire don't want to discuss the novels in the Game of Thrones HBO threads. :P |

Nothing much to say for episode 12 as it was once again just an intriguing discussion. I can only hope that the point of a break this winter season is that every episode in the second half of this series will be straight up fighting.

No more Fate/Zero until April. :(
Not a particular good set of episodes to end a "season" on either. Ep12-13 were basically just build up episodes which lead to the next major action set piece. They should have ended it at ep11 for the season imo. The pacing is going to seem really weird having to wait over 3 months, and suddenly getting a huge action episode opening the next season. Although, I guess there's a chance that they probably plan on doing a quick re-run of the entire season some time in March. |

Episode 13
![]() Well I liked it, then again when your two favorite masters are there its hard to not like the episode. I enjoyed how they made up for all the lost time with Ryuunosuke and developed Waver and Rider. Terrible cliffhanger though, Fate Zero 2nd cant come fast enough. |

Just watched this all the way to Ep 13...
Hot damn this shit was good :D! The last 2 episodes felt kinda slow though the ending for 13th was awesome. Tohsaka episode was also... shitty. Not needed at all. Very pumped for the next season. First truly decent anime in a LONG while |
