I've been thinking of picking up one of these, so this would probably be my weapon of choice once I do end up getting Rocksmith:

I don't currently have an electric quitar, only an acoustic one.

I have my dad's Telecaster lying around my apartment that I can't play because, well, I can't play, though it would be nice to be able to.

Worth the money for this?

(And by "worth the money" I mean in a couple of months when it's cheaper and I don't have Xenoblade, Dark Souls, Batman, Uncharted, and Skyrim eating all of my time.)

I have always wanted to learn to play guitar and I am thinking about getting this game. Does anyone know if the guitar in the bundle is worth it, or would I be better off buying the stand alone game and a seperate guitar?

Got lucky last night and picked up the last ps3 copy. I played for a few hours and I must say I am really enjoying it so far. I'm a beginner guitar player I have an instructor that I go to monthly I mostly learn music theory. This game complements this because I can now learn some songs and add this to my practice schedule. Some people are having input lag I haven’t had a issue with this yet.

Not having played one for myself, I still think it's safe to assume that the bundled guitar is a piece of trash. The neck and body are probably driftwood (wood is everything when it comes to a guitar's tone). If you're serious about learning, you should definitely invest in something worthwhile. Note that there are some very good entry-level guitars to be had for ~300, possibly even less.

I need to spend some more time playing the duck mini games. My no look transition skills are completely shite. Got to #18 on the leaderboards last night for super ducks, but my run was complete shite. There really isn't many people playing this game. Probably only about 200 people on the leaderboards.

Got to the point where I am going to have to practice songs before being able to go forward in the career. It is completely bonking my brain to see a chord show up and try to determine what frets what fingers and what strings I need to be using. But I will be able to pick it up after a couple more days of practice I think.

Gonna get my buddy over that's has a good ear and compare it to analog and see how he feels..if he finds it real noticeable i'll go analog.

Same here my transition skills are lacking. I found myself trying to look at my fingers, play the notes and look at the screen to often especially when the difficulty picks up. I'll just keep at it with the duck mini games.

I hope when this will release in EU to effectively learn to play something.

Hey thanks =). It's my first guitar and I'm pretty happy with it, when I get good enough and it's worth my money I'll probably move up to one of the higher end models, but for now it's more than enough.

Just picked the game up, disappointed they didn't include an actual manual but I guess it's not really a game that requires one. The cable seems pretty well built so it should last awhile. I'm hoping that the fret stickers are not necessary and are only thrown in to make it easier to quickly tell where you are on the neck.

Now just to wait 4 more hours until I can plug in =(

EDIT: Also good job with the OP Shagg, I was kinda torn on whether or not I was actually going to try this one out but you pushed me over the edge. Hopefully I don't run into any lag issues (HDMI to receiver).

I am actually considering picking this up. I've been playing guitar for four years, and probably tooling around on guitar for about 10 years, but there are still things that I am weak at -- Paul Simon style fingerpicking, scales, certain barred chords I suppose... And I generally play mostly just folk rock and rhythm rock, so I was hoping to pick up something that might push me into more genres.

What dost thou think? To the gaf guitar players enjoying this game... how long have you been playing guitar and what are your experiences with the game?

Axelmusic, now planetaxel.com send your games from the EU = absolutely no import fees. Prices are pretty comparative to videogamesplus.com (which I would recommend also). WIth vgp you have the chance of import fees however.

It's an Epiphone Les Paul Jr. I'm no guitarist, but I've heard that that's a very decent entry level guitar? Is it legit that it's a good beginner guitar? Sure would be even cheaper than a ~300 dollar guitar.

Just picked this up from Best Buy... had a $25 gift certificate that I've been meaning to use, so I figured why not. Whoever fulfilled my online order mistakenly grabbed the bundle with the Gibson and I had to explain to the guy at the pick up desk that I ordered the standalone game. Could have probably walked out with it at a $140 discount but I already have a guitar. :P

Can't wait to get home and get started playing the game... I'm a beginner guitarist who just started playing a few weeks ago (no lessons, just messing around and learning some simple songs), so I'll post my impressions as soon as I get the chance.

there are better for 300. Musicians friend has the junior a 50dollar amp, cable and headphone bundle for 229.
I'd honestly go to a music store and get a cheep used guitar(insist on proper setup to be included in the cost) for 300ish and you'd be set.

I bought an epiphone ebony standard for 400bucks new and its fine for an entry level guitar that's usable ...used you should be able to get one for 300 easy.

I'm planning on upgrading to a Epiphone Ultra III and i'm guessing they're only gonna give me 200bucks for my Standard on tradein.

Setup is hugely important for a beginner. expect to pay about 70bucks for a good setup.

Imported it into the UK ordered from Gamestop and got the DLC code (used with a US store account) all in all it cost me about £90 to get it, i reckon it will be worth it though. My Gibson Les Paul is sooo very ready.

You could've gotten it for little over 50£ from Videogamesplus... Though, not sure if it comes with the DLC code (do all new copies come with it or is it Gamestop exclusive?).
