We've all had a bash at it, let my kid do the karaoke mode before realising you don't even need to sing along, he liked it anyway.

Any idea how many degrees the arcade's steering was set to? I tried 270° and it felt too slippy, more like an analogue stick, tried 540° which was good but a little too much so I suppose around 360° should be ideal?

Can't remember for sure, though I know it was less than 360. My gut wants to say that it was close to 180.

Bought it once I found out it was on XBOX live. I haven't seen a populated live game since I played Outrun. Man, Daytona is so damn slick! I can't believe how rock solid this game is. I hope the multiplayer lobbies stay full for a while. Games like this don't deserve to die.

I feel like I just time warped back to junior high school back in 94 when I had a Saturn. Daytona and Guardian Heroes at the same time is giving me a retrogasm I've never experienced before. Thanks SEGA for giving so much fan service as of late. Daytona truly is a love letter to the fans.

Updates. The lobby is basic so they need to provide us with more options. To get everyone screaming more onto the game they should aim to get 16 players racing at the same time (it will be epic). The League table need to be improved. They should also encourage more competition events to get everyone concentrated on the game and prep us all the way until the next version of the game, Daytona USA 2.

Oh my god, man. This game. This port is something else.

I could just leave this fucking xbox on all day on attract mode. That alone is worth the 10 bucks I paid for the game. Hell, it might even justify the system itself.

The only way this could be any better is if they sold you the goddamn hydraulics cockpit. This is pretty much perfect from what I remember the arcade (which is not much, I was never a good player) and for the Model 2 emulator.

If this doesn't sell gangbusters this week, I don't know what else SEGA could've done to make it happen. For the first time in like 20 years, SEGA (AM2, always them) deserves to reap the rewards.

Which is why I'm monitoring this thread for G27 impressions. I may very well rebuy a PS3 solely for this game.

regarding the G27 wheel on PS3.

Played for a while last night. Lots of fun but one small problem that I had was I had to turn the feedback way down (level 2), to minimize a constant vibrating that occurred in the wheel when turning. It made the steering lighter than I would like, but the vibrating noise was annoying at higher levels, and didn't sound like it was doing my wheel any good either. Is this an issue with other wheels too?

Just played for a good two hours straight (I seem to have unlocked most of the achievements too! They are pretty easy, gets it out of the way and then there are challenges, survival mode leaderboards, multiplayer, etc, tons of content!!)

I have been kind of sad the past couple weeks and I can't describe it but this game is like pure Prozac, it just makes me happy to play it. It's never too frustrating and it's just one giant Happy Pill, I can see how Isamu got to how he is.

I am going to be sleeping with Dayytooooooooonaaaaaaaaaaa repeating over and over in my head.

I don't know man. It must be nostalgia. I can't explain it any other way. Everything about Daytona is awesome. For instance, if you rip the entire song from the game and play it without the sound of the engine and the sound of your "coach" or whatever, it sounds horrible. You can make out every compression "signature" and how the "Rolling Start" and "Daytona" parts of the song, the A sample is just repeated a buncha times, pretty poorly if you ask me.

However, when everything comes together, all is fucking awesome and perfect.

God damn this game.

Won't happen. This will get the same support as any other sega game on xbla. none. Outrun even has some nasty bugs where the track disappears and you can't see where to go. It hasn't been fixed.

I know. That's the horrible thing about it. In truth, we only got this game out of convenience (Sega Racing Classic) so we have to be glad on that front.

So pathetic. I won't repeat what I said before because I had big arguments with SEGA employee regarding it even though I've won every damn argument. However, it still doesn't do any good.

There are some very useful in game tips somewhere in the options. Hold down brake and press the gas to keep the RPM between 6K and 7k and let go of the brake when the light hits green.

I don't know, I checked the Credits just to see what it would say and it seemed like a bunch of the Sega Japan employees were listed as the "Daytona USA port team" or something (which is probably good), unfortunately they are probably just a small team within Sega and busy with lots of other stuff, maybe doing this out of a labor of love. It kind of blows my mind that they were even given the freedom to do it, knowing how Japanese companies usuaully work they would be too conservative to do something like this.

I was just playing online with 5 or 6 Japanese guys and it felt exciting enough for me! I got run off the road, saw some guy go flying, I was in 2nd place in lap 7 and then in the final lap everyone got serious and passed me :P I think the #1 person on distance leaderboard is a Japanese girl from looking at the gamer card.

I hope the game sells far more than something like 10K (which as the XBLA sales thread shows is a common number lately), 10K sales is probably losing money on the thing so why would they try with other games...maybe word of mouth will come through, hopefully Penny Arcade makes a comic about it or something...it really is a great game and holds up perfectly fine.

SEGA AM2 assigned a porting team that is currently named AM2 Port. This team specialise solely on porting SEGA classic games to which they've done for Daytona USA. Unfortunately, everyone don't know Daytona USA is up on Xbox LIVE because SEGA has done ZERO marketing for the game, so the game would have to be solved purely by word of mouth.

Sad but true - SEGA does not want to make money via the suggestion of their own customers that are loyal to them even though millions of them are chanting the same voice. Pathetic.

The arcade version had the sound and music playing separately on different amps. This is the best sound setup you will ever get for Daytona. On my system, the sound is fine.
