Thanks for the info everyone. I will be getting a 2DS and not an XL then.

I just came back to this after seeing the new trailers and screenshots for Mario 3D World. I'm kinda sad that I ended up shelving it last year; the game really picks up in the later worlds. World 7 was amazing. The music and level design was outstanding. So much fun. It's taken me a while but I think I've come around to the non-adventure style 3D Mario games. Bring on 3D World.

Any bets on whether we'll see a follow up specifically on the 3DS?

I'd love to see a SM3DL2 on the 3DS. Lose the basic Luigi playthrough and replace it with something more meaningful like the green stars in SMG2.

I just spent the last couple weeks doing another 100% playthrough of SM3DL. It started to lose steam for me about halfway through the Luigi parts, but I still think it's terrific.

I posted about this in the Streetpass thread but I thought it would be worth posting this here as well.

There's a special Nintendo Zone street/spot pass available today for Super Mario 3D Land. I don't know if it is just available today or if it will be available for a stretch of time.
(the image is from the last Nintendo Direct)

I got the Nintendo Zone street/spot pass this morning.

There was a Mystery Box with a Yoshiaki Koizumi Mii associated with it. The box was full of raccoon leaves, had one P-Wing, and one Star Coin. IIRC the box shimmered but otherwise there nothing special about the presentation. What's really cool though is that the street/spot pass arrived with really aggressive time attack scores for the levels. Since launch I have continued to stay on top of my 3D Land time attack scores; constantly beating new streetpass records as they come in. I'm glad to have a final batch of times to beat as I transition into 3D World.

So I can only afford one game (I just got a LttP 3DS). This seems to be the highest rated game. Is it the best to get? I was thinking this v. NSMB2 v. Fire Emblem.

Definitely better than NSMB2 (2 is okay, but really the NSMB series has been going downhill since NSMBW peaked). Can't speak to FE, still in my backlog, but I hear it's good. Do you want to platform or strategize?

I really just want to have fun.... Yeah I know that's vague.

Get Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

But if you don't, this game is probably the next best thing.

One question regarding free SM3DL for EU. I ordered 3DS XL today from German Amazon. Can I register the system on any Club Nintendo (since it's a PAL system)? I'm assuming that it doesn't have to be German Nintendo Club, but I'd like for someone to verify this for me.
