Truth. Still I can't drink more then one of these, shit tastes too dam sweet. On a warm day one cold cider hits the spot but soon as you open the second one the sugary taste is just too much for me. I have given up on cider almost completely and if I want some exotic flavours I'll go for flavored beer. I just had Two Dogs (lemon beer) and it was actually rather good.

To everyone else, it's a mixed bag, but most people do immediately dismiss cider as being "too sweet", even before trying the perfectly balanced, more bitter kinds: ![]() Nectar of the Gods, tis. |

Rosie is fucking dangerous, know a few places that do it on tap up in Newcastle and every time we get on it it always ends poorly.

Yeah they make a good drink. The brewer Monteith's have some real nice beers as well. They have a good variety pack with the Cider and 3 other beers they brew in the pack, good party starter for me......... 2 of each drink yum yum.

I usually get Weston's Organic (now known as Wyld Wood). I tried Stowford Press a while ago at a local Wetherspoons. It just seemed really flat and weak. It was draft, i'll give the bottled one a try.
Aspall is also good. Rekorderlig and Kopparberg are pretty much soft drinks. Tasty, but unspeakably sweet. You couldn't drink it all night. I'm not a huge Magners drinker but the three limited edition flavours they had over the last few months were really rather nice. The rhubarb and apple in particular. |

Last fall I bought 5 gallons of cider from our local farmer's market, looked a lot like the OP's pic. Fermented it with some Nottingham ale yeast for a few weeks, then bottled it with a healthy dose of maple syrup. Stuff was heaven in a bottle, I only have a few left... Fermenting cider is so easy and delicious. If anyone wants a recipe, let me know.

They're still selling it, along with the spiced apple & honey and pear & ginger flavours. The larger Tesco stores should stock them. There was also a promotion on where if you purchase a few bottles of any of the magners range, you'd get one of those lovely tapered Magners glasses for free. No idea if that's still happening, got one from my local budgens.

Liquorland had the Sours but no Cloudy. Think the sour only came out last month or something, think I will be picking a few more of them up. |

Tried some of them as well, good stuff.
The "Crisp" or standard ciders seem to be the sweetest. The cloudy, sour ones are nice and dry and not as sweet. Apple is probably the sweetest though, the fruit it self has crazy sugar in it. I'd probably try pear first, not as sweet but incredible. |

I am definitely a cider drinker.. can't stand beer. This is maybe my favorite picture I've put up on Instagram. Fox Barrel Perry is the pinnacle right now IMO.
![]() Here are a few others I've taken.. I wasn't very impressed with Magners' perry. I love Wood Chuck's Granny Smith but didn't really care for this Raspberry kind. I bought their variety pack around Christmas (4 flavors I hadn't tried before) and none of them compare to Granny Smith. I have tried their Pear as well and it was decent but not great. Mr. Perry is not that impressive either. ![]() ![]() This brand is quite good:

when I first got to the states I was offered a cup of cider. Hell yeah I thought, ignoring the fact that it's odd to refer to it as a cup and not a glass.. until I was handed this cup of steaming, ammonia smelling, hot brown filth. Quite honestly one of the most disgusting things I have ever drunk, especially considering how nice European 'hard' cider is.

Best apple cider I've ever had was at this place in Holland, MI. They also make some killer apple pie. They had their version of a Monte Cristo sandwich with turkey, cheese, apple bread, and sliced apples on it. The apples weren't syrupy, they were really crispy and slightly tart. Sounds weird, but was a great combination.
