Apple cider is something I've never been a fan of.

I did, however, try this tasty strawberry cider at a beer show a few weeks ago:

Very crisp and tasty, goes great with foods.

Good apple cider really does not taste the same as apple juice. Ideally you get freshly pressed cider from an orchard during the fall harvest. It tastes so much better than the bottled junk you get from a grocer.

Also, if it hasn't been filtered and pasturized it will slowly ferment because of the naturally occurring yeasts that grow on the apples. I know a few people who buy large quantities of cider from local orchards for that express purpose.

Okay, so a few of you guys who are in the UK...

I love cider. I basically started hanging out in irish pubs in Montreal just so I could drink cider, because it's impossible to find everywhere else.

Someone mentioned Scrumpy to me. I want to drink that. It's impossible to find here.

I'll buy some off you. I'll send money, pay for shipping, etc. Hell if necessary I'll throw in a can of maple syrup if you want.

I must have british cider.

Yep! Nothing better than putting a jug of fresh unpasteurized cider on your windowsill and letting it turn.

I like bottled hard cider just as much as the next person but it really pales in comparison to the real stuff.

I'm a fan of Kopparberg. I generally favour pear ciders, which often seem to be the base for the more interesting flavoured ones (ie. the delicious Elderflower and Lime Kopparberg I tried last week).

Damn, the picture in the OP reminded me of the huge bottle of Cornish Scrumpy I got once. The guy who sold it to me said that it would "turn [me] into a viking" in that I would be roaring drunk before I knew it. Needless to say, he was right.

Back on topic; Cider is definitely my drink of choice over beer. Strongbow tastes like chemical waste (cheap, though), Magners is ok for the moment, but if I'm buying any down the local supermarket it has to be Green Goblin:

I'd buy 10 of those for the bottle alone. For Brule.

Anyways on ma Sour's so good. Like to stick them in the freezer and get them super chilled.

Only correct answer. Most cider is good, this stuff is great.

I honestly dig even the "it's pretty much soda with alcohol"-ciders like Xider if I just want something cold, refreshing and alcoholic. But for an actual proper drink, I've yet to have better cider than Strongbow.

Get some extra dry. Tolerable sweetness. I've had bad luck with my cider experiments. It's hard to find cider (in my area) that doesn't have some sort of additive to it. Most of them either have added potassium or absorbic acid. :(
