Call of Duty gets hated on sometimes for allowing the gamer to progress without them having to do much. But in real life it would happen as well, so what is the complaint?

I have dabbled in the series and just started the MW3 solo campaign.

Final Fantasy XIII plays itself. They "fixed" this in the sequel by adding in QTEs...

I think the complaints are overblown myself. Just because something is scripted doesn't mean the game is "playing itself."

Prince of Persia 2008. It doesn't literally play itself, but it does it's best to require as little effort from the player as possible. You could probably beat the game using your foot.

I don't understand. What would happen in real life? War would go on without players or the game would play itself...in real life? I'm so confused.

They should make a game where you showed up late and someone already beat the game. It's realistic so you can't complain.

How so? At least in FFXIII you had to switch paradigms you can literally just leave FFXII alone and come back hours later and still be fine.

Yes, mostly because, you had to at least set gambits, so really it was your efforts being put into play.

Dragon Age 2 is capable of "playing" the combat on it's own. With heavy mods you can make World of Warcraft do some pretty sophisticated things on it's own and make fat cheddar.

The funny thing is that I found the platforming dungeons to be the best part of the last couple AC games. Your criticism can be applied the games as a whole. There is no difficulty curve or depth to the mechanics, you could hold the trigger and watch cool shit happen.

Uncharted 2/3 and Enslaved both have this problem where you spend a lot of time just holding a direction and tapping a button to traverse.

FFXII is the worst offender. Those saying FFXIII obviously never played a lot because at the end, you switch paradigm all the time. In FFXII you can just put down the controler down and you still win if you put the right gambits.
