The price isn't as extreme as the PS3 though. It will certainly struggle just like 3DS did in its first few months.

KH2 did and BBS wasn't far off (it actually did if you include it's Final Mix). I think it's fair to say there's at least potential there.

I also wouldn't be surprised if stuff like Nintendogs + Cats or Girl's Mode 2 crawl past a million over the long haul either though. There's a lot of DS owners 3DS hasn't touched yet, and when they jump in I think we could see these sorts of games rising with the expanded base. I could also see OOT3D pulling a Mario 64DS, and slowly legging it to platinum.

No way for Kingdom Hearts, more in the 600-700k range.
More plausible Nintendogs + cats (in a decade).

According to garaph Mario Tennis on the N64 is the only Mario Sports game that even came close to selling a million (969,888 to be precise). I could see a new Mario Tennis selling really well in todays environment.

[N64] Mario Tennis 64 (Nintendo) - 213.422 / 833.908 / 25,59% 21/07/00

Seeing how much the Mario brand regained popularity, even with the mere sport spin-off titles...possible.

Holy shit :lol
If you get all the charts handy, how did perform Wii sales-wise back then, compared to 3DS?
And when exactly did Tri launch, was it in Summer or Autumn perhaps?

It launched on 1st August 2009, two days counted like MH3G.

One-hit wonder: sometimes it is impossible to replicate a success because based on conditions which are not always present. Anyway, Nintendogs saw a huge success in the West, while in Japan it sold well but not extremely well (barely 2mln copies, when Animal Crossing, Brain Training 2, Mario e Pokémon are all above 5mln). Anyway, it must be evaluated in the long-run, since it won't get a sequel anytime soon on 3DS and it will have the chance to sell until the end of the console lifetime.

Wow, I didn't realize that pink marshmallow was more popular in Japan! Kirby games do tend to feel more unique than Zelda, though. So maybe it isn't entirely shocking. Playing Mass Attack right now on my 3DS, very cool game.

The game is merely prettier. It's more polished but has less interesting activities than the first (the obstacle course was the best part and it has been removed). Few people would recommend the 3DS version to someone who already has Nintendogs.

It hasn't really died it was more of a mistimed release, it should've launched later (maybe this xmas) when the userbase was larger and there were more casuals, as it is its still chugging along consistently and will surely eventually hit a million maybe more

Thank you for your prompt reply!

So Monster hunter tri did no effect Wii hardware sales, whereas conversely MH3G's attach rate is quite impressive!

So 75.865 users got a defective product, "it supplies me to an extreme degree with" a bit of sadness. So how can people be protected in this case?

Of course im assuming the games become as unplayable as they say.

I don't know, wouldn't people be holding off for one week to buy the latest and greatest system instead of the PSP now?
If someone lives in Japan, what's the general mood regarding the Vita like?

Don't feel bad. You can always say that you forgot to take into account the growth of the franchise. MH has grown a 26% in sales since MH3 was released (3.4M -> 4.6M).
