I've changed my opinion about Close Quarters, it isn't a DLC with massive maps and vehicles but nonetheless there are people that will enjoy it. I think this will especially be welcomed by players on consoles as there isn't a possibility for 64 players from the beginning, the difference from 24 to 16 players isn't as big as 64 to 16.
If DICE wants to please all different types of players with different map packs, then why should it be a bad thing? |

Even though that map looks like a direct knock off of a Modern Warfare map I don't think it looks horrible. I'll probably enjoy it for the same reason I loved Karkand and Jalalabad in BF2, and enjoy Karkand (and occasionally Metro now) in BF3...I don't like flying. |

That map looks insane. So pumped for the expansion.
I'm surprised there is so much backlash. If you don't like these particular maps, then don't play/buy them, and the next expansion sounds like it'll be a bigger scale more "traditional" BF experience. Win win for everyone. Variety is a good thing. |

I get the dissatisfaction with the direction of the expansion, but I really don't get the comparisons to Metro. Metro 64 is a clusterfuck because there are exactly three choke points which are easily covered by about a third of the team, sometimes less. Because the map is so linear, it becomes easy to just shoot in one direction and hold back an entire team. Close Quarters seems completely antithetical to this sort of approach. The maps are much more varied in movement and approach, meaning that you're open to attack from multiple points that can't possibly all be covered. Instead, success in this game will come with successfully predicting player flow on a smaller (but faster) scale than say, Caspian 64. Of course it looks chaotic though, the trailer was cut to reflect that and dice wants to focus on it. Sounds great for my 16 player server!
In either case, it looks like we have our weapon list. Assault: Steyr AUG A3 FN SCAR-L Engineer: Bushmaster ACW-R Tavor MTAR-21 Support: L86A1 LSW ATK LSAT Recon: H&K M417 MKEK Bora JNG-90 All-Kit H&K MP5K Franchi SPAS-12 Good to see the MP5 does make it in, but it's kind of disappointing that it's the super-short K variant and not a full sized A3 or A2 along the lines of the UMP. Oh well, all the same. If there's no other reason to get the expansion, these weapons are pretty freaking awesome... |

So I played Battlefield 3 for the first time tonight in a couple months and was shocked by how laggy/choppy it was online. I purchased the game at release and played it for a good two or three months after that, and it was always SEAMLESS. I've never experienced choppiness like this. Could it be the latest patch? Could it be my card? Checked my temps during gameplay and they were fine, made sure my drivers are up to date... I don't know what else I can do. Anyone have ANY idea what may have transpired in those two months I didn't play the game and didn't change the settings or anything that could possibly make it perform so poorly?

It's the servers and this is typical Battlefield. EA/DICE needs to be bitch slapped to where they maintain the server for a week before they get laggy again and then we have to continuously bitch for them to fix it.
I'll get it for the SPAS-12, and yes I am part of the problem. No, I can't care because damn it the guns give me +200 in unlocks every 25 kills really. Helps speed the ranking up to 100 Colonel up. MP5 will also be good if my BFF FN P90 wasn't already in the game for all kits. Also the SCAR-L will be the new FAMAS. I can feel it.

I think someone mentioned something about changing how assignments worked compared to Karkand. For example, they wouldn't require something like mortar/claymore kills.

The FN SCAR series of weapons only fires at 600 RPM. I expect them to bump it to 650, which would match the AUG (unless they upped that to 700). But yeah, only gun looking to go FAMAS on us is the ACW-R, which fires up to 950 RPM. Chances are they're going for 900.

Well, since it's a 5.56 gun, it wouldn't be any different than an American AK-74M. There will be plenty of control, but damage isn't that impressive, especially at close range with the low ROF. The ROF was what made the FAMAS the crazy gun, not the damage. What we're getting here are two rock solid ARs that will likely be very controllable and accurate at range. Heck, even the LSAT and L86A1 are pretty slow firing.
Now what's REALLY gonna go broken are the Engineer guns. The ACR-W sounds like it's firing AT LEAST at 850rpm. More likely 900. The MTAR-21 fires at anything from 750-900rpm and will likely fall in the 750-850 range from what it sounds like in the video. There's gonna be some fast firing carbines which will be amazing for CQB. Those, the SPAS-12 and the 900rpm MP5K are the CQC guns, and appropriately so, but the ARs and LMGs for this next expansion are all gonna be pretty conservative.

What's the best shotgun setup? In the past I've done okay with the 870MCS with standard buck but it seems to not work as well anymore.

i tend to base my decision based on the situation at hand. If I'm storming a room or building, I go with buckshot, if medium range the flachette, and for long range slugs or frags for fun body flying shenanigans haha

SCAR-L in CoD or Ghost Recon has been extremely good. I doubt the damage isn't going to be poor enough for it not to rock peoples faces off. |

I think he's saying that, since the round determines the damage (basically) per shot, and it's 5.56, it's not going to be any stronger than the other 5.56 weapons. They'll probably keep the real world ROF, too. I think it will be a weaker, but lower recoil version of the SCAR-H. Also remember that it will have 30 rounds vs SCAR-H's 20.

CQC looks hot to death. In fact, from an A/V perspective, I think it might have the best firefights in gaming. You are all being salty haters.
That said, it would have been smarter to combine the Armored and CQC pack. The multiplayer community is going to be splintered into pieces. |

I'm not so sure. I think this will help to keep the communities together. Console gamers will buy the CQC, and PC gamers will buy the armored pack. I appreciate Dice for not mixing the armored map pack up with maps I don't want and I'm not going to play. It also makes sense for the CQC to come out first. Console gamers are a little faster to drop a game without new content and game sales on consoles have a shorter tail than PC. And just by the nature of the larger maps being larger and probably needing more work this gives Dice more time to work on them for all 3 systems. |

Just played the worst gamemode on the worst map with the worst people. (Team DM/Noshar/Shotgun abusers). It really saddens me to see players with like rank 3 play that, that's not the proper way to enjoy Battlefield as a a newbie. I want to take them by the hand and guide them into glorious dynamic conquest games with tanks and jets and choppers!
