What seasons would you all recommend I pick up off Amazon? I really enjoy the show but always just catch random episodes here and there and don't really know where to start.

Should be a good episode. The guests have been really good this series, and so much better than the usual stars. I really don't like SIARPC but the last couple have had interesting interviews

Another solid episode in my book. Aside from the the one from 2 weeks ago, this season has definitely been a step up from the last few years.

Not as good as last weeks, but not a bad episode.

Also the girl behind Matt Smith was fine.

I laughed really hard at the SAAB owners are architects comment, because I've met people that fit the bill 100%.

Yes you gotta believe the producers intentionally put the hot girls in the shot all over the place on purpose! :P

Smith made this episode great. I've gone through his two seasons over the last two weeks and it's some of the best Who in a long time. He is the perfect fit for the Doctor.

I hate the car vs something else segments. It has nice photography but is boring. I'd rather focus on the rally car.

News was funny. Dr Who was alright, but he seems like a knob to me.

Saab segment was very interesting. Top stuff.

Not as good as last week, but that's to be expected.

I'm slowly skipping more and more of this show. First, "star in a reasonably priced car," aka "15 minutes of filler." Then "the news," aka "7 minutes of forced not funny banter." Then the silly segments, aka let's pretend to be completely retarded for a while. The car vs. some-random-thing segments are no picnic either. I skipped past the end of the rally car vs jet man segment. I'm assuming the rally car JUST BARELY lost out to the dude.

Anything other than the exotic trips and straight car segments is just unwatchable.

What was the name of the episode that had Matt Smith in it? I want to DVR the next airing, because I forgot to do it this time.

e: was it the fifth episode of this season?

Exactly. The SAAB segment in particular entertained me, because it actually gives you information about cars, and the amount of choreographed skits and studied lines are kept to a minimum. Just two middle-aged guys chatting about what they liked/disliked about the SAAB brand, what made it unique, and why they and we will/won't miss it.

I still watch Top Gear regularly, but I always just end up seeing only 5 or 10 minutes an episode.

True, the Saab segment was great. Too bad content like that represents about 5% of a typical season.

Loved the SAAB segment. My first car I ever bought with my own money was a grey market 900 turbo (one with no intercooler, which, it turns out, isn't a terrific idea in Texas) I bought used off a military guy who brought it in to the country.

I loved that car immensely before it completely blew up on me.

Episode 6 of 7, Series 18:

Quote:
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May hit Donington in three stripped-out track cars - the KTM X-Bow, the Morgan Three Wheeler and the Caterham R500.

Back at the Top Gear airfield, Jeremy recreates the Battle of Britain in an insane aero-engined Bentley and a flame-spitting retro BMW.
Looking forward to this one.

Quote:
Lotus F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen is set to make an appearance on the final programme of this season’s BBC Top Gear series on March 11.

Raikkonen will take part in the Star in a Reasonably-Priced car segment of the show, driving a Suzuki Liana. In this segment, Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson interviews a celebrity and then they, along with the studio audience, watches a clip of the celebrity driving on the Top Gear track which was filmed earlier. The lap times are then put on a leaderboard.

However, there is a separate leaderboard for Formula 1 drivers. Sebastian Vettel, a close friend of Raikkonen in Formula 1, is currently at the top of the Top Gear leaderboard, with a time of 1:44.0.

The Top Gear episode airs on BBC Two, Sunday 11 March from 8.00 – 9.00pm.

Just got around to watching it, loved the SAAB segment. I knew a fair amount who fit the SAAB stereotype (family friends had one).

Also love those types of segments because that's when I get tidbits from my dad when watching 'em. Apparently that SAAB turbo was my mom's first car in the country, got it clean from a first owner and then someone rear-ended her the first week.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to think Matt Smith is a bit of a knob, haven't ever gotten into the new Doctor as a result.

The only part of the show I skip is the "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" part. Everything else is awesome IMO. The news segment often spawns some hilarious comments, it's one of my favorite parts.

S16 is on Netflix now as well, for those who haven't seen it.

Yep. The latest episode reminded me of just what I love about this show. Chemistry, speed and car worship in all of its forms. And just a tad of old school nationalism for laughs.

Its a good thing too because the latest Top Gear US episode left a very sour taste in my mouth.
