at this point i feel like i could stop buying disc based games all together for my 360 and be set. the back catalog is strong as fuck and some of the stuff coming up looks insane.

XBLA is for real.

also, seriously. go buy Pinball Arcade. its one of the best games on the platform.

Major Nelson is taking a Facebook poll on what should be the reward for purchasing all the Summer of Arcade games. Since I don't have a Facebook maybe one of you guys can post the choices.

I think "on sale" is what MS always uses to let you know that a game is out and available to purchase. Kinda like retail games have the "in stores now" tagline.

I've spent most of the day re-downloading everything and have come across an anomoly.

Everything was tied to Xbox 1 and my gamertag
Everything was transferred to Xbox 2 and my gamertag

The rules dictate that if anyone signed into Xbox1 without my gamertag being signed in, and went to any of my XBLA or GoD they'd be faced with trial versions.

This is not happening.

All the games, regardless of any combination of me, my GF or both of us, all show up as full versions on both Xboxes. Not a trial in sight.

I'm not complaining, but am slightly confused.

Can anyone out there offer any insight into what might be happening?

Yup. Both have.

I didn't change any settings, and left the router alone as my GF has been on and off the internet all day so any sign-in has resulted in a connection to Live.

Honestly, I'm stumped.

I'd assume that it's just the license transfer service being slow. Since you're only allowed to do it like once a year or whatever it is, they probably don't have it running on the most high-spec servers and connections.

If not, I guess you got some lucky fluke. Mine didn't do that when I transfered last year. (Hell, mine didn't even properly transfer everything to "Xbox 2" even though my license history says they're all on one machine now. Some games still think they're trials when I'm offline...)

Originally Posted by bangai-o: View Post

No.

Points are winning pretty thoroughly. It's up to about 15,000 for MSP and 6,000 for Gold now. Can't believe Gold has any votes at all, I'm going to bet all my money that's whiners who refuse to get XBL voting even though they have 0 intention of getting any SoA game.

Used to be once a year, but it's now once every 4 months, and you can only do it from the dashboard.

If it doesn't change by the end of the weekend, I'm gonna have to consider it an awesome fluke :)

Has anybody posted about the XBLRewards Triple Play deal this month?

Do they base time on how many requests you make from the XBL servers, or just based on how long the apps run?

Are they seriously never going to stop with these embarassingly small rewards? They're asking me to spend $15 or 15 hours to get like $2 back, why the fuck would I do that?

Based on some posts I've read on other forums, I don't think it will. MSP are definitely region locked, but it seems that UK points are not usable with an Australian account.

What does work (or did anyway) is creating a UK silver/free account which you can use to spend the points, but there are downsides to that.

You wouldn't, but some people would do it anyway. It's not hard to find ten hours of stuff to watch on iPlayer, The Apprentice is going to be half of that this month on its own. Then you buy Fez or Trials and everyone was going to do that anyway. You're not going out of your way to spend that money, it's just a bonus for doing almost nothing.

I did have to watch Nyan Cat on Youtube for an hour though. I don't even know why I bothered, I have no faith in them being able to track this accurately.

Yep, XBL rewards has been a hit or miss. I enjoy that I get free points but the amounts so pathetic that they're not even worth doing. I pretty much just do the survey and whatever else requires no work since I have no faith MS will reward me otherwise.

Really looking forward to most of those games in the 5 in 5, never heard of Guacamelee till then.

Dust is so pretty, And Super TIME force looks insane in a way that only seems to look as awesome when presented in 2D...

Charlie Murder is one of the only games I think deserves the "Looks like a Flash Game!" commentary, but it seems to be SO full of all the best of brawlers, that I easily think it deserves to be seen as much more.

I look at it as a couple free indie games, a free Rocksmith song, a free pro rock band song, a free DLC pack, etc., just for using the Facebook or Youtube apps for an hour. I listen to last.fm on the Xbox for at least fifteen hours in a month and I already spent 800 points on the Pinball Arcade (which you all should too).

Anomaly is another easy 800 points to spend, the trial really impressed me.

It's Tower Offense. First you get a map and you can plan the route for up to six creeps, and then you can just run around at will performing AOE repairs and picking up drops and the like. Your creeps follow that route (which you can change at will if the situation requires it) and kill whatever they come across. You have various special attacks for if the situation requires it, and creeps can be upgraded like you'd upgrade towers in a Defence game.

Presentation is excellent, and it controls wonderfully.

It's looking like a really, really brilliant companion to Defense Grid.

I thought CM looked cheap when it was revealed and I see it's still the case now. It's not only about the style but also about the gameplay. Id play Castle Crashers again instead.

I'm sort of with you on Charlie Murder, Kafel, but I'm like that with all of that guy's stuff. I bought dishwasher, and it took me an age to get over just how, well, shoddy it all looked. I mean, it was fun to play and all, but the presentation was just so... Lacking.

Edit: I'm going to have to say just how absolutely fucking stunning Dust looks. Oh my god.

Also, Super Time Force sounds incredible.
