People would still go to games.. There's no professional teams here barring the Crew and Blue Jackets. And for all practical purposes, that means we have no professional teams.

What does Florham park, NJ (team hq of the NY Jets), have to do with college sports especially since NJ is stuck in promarkethalla on both ends? It just seems weird that they would have their hq (assuming the press release came from the hq) there.

It doesn't, it has to do with the USFL, the last legitimate professional football league outside the NFL.

If the USFL thing actually catches on in some meaningful way this time, you may see some kids get drafted straight from highschool so that they can skip the pretenses of being unpaid amateurs. Go straight to making a salary, albeit not a huge one. The NCAA would no longer have a monopoly on the NFL's minor leagues.

Dude, I'm a Giant's fan, and thus know about the Generals/Trump/Giants/Taylor fiasco. The press release's origin is from Floram Park.

Oh my question was more rhetorical. Start a league focusing on college towns with out pro teams, then have your hq in a town that is only known for being the hq of a profootball team. Just seems very odd.

I've been casually following the playoff rumors and just came across the article that says ADs are insisting they instill a selection committee that chooses the 4 playoff teams.

How is this supposed to solve anything? Aren't they still going to be choosing big schools over smaller schools with better records (i.e., the Boise States, etc)? Historical precedence (the NCAA college basketball tournament) shows that mediocre power conference teams are favored by far over smaller conference schools.

apparently there is an unknown rule where A. two players from the same team can't get in, and B. players can't get in if a player from their school got in the previous year.

must be new, cause pretty sure USC had a few years in a row where various players got in in the early 00s

I saw this earlier and a bunch of people listed schools who have had 2+ straight guys in recently. Whatever just add it to the list of reasons why hall of fames are dumb.

I could see that, maybe they'd move a team from an underperforming market to here if the city is able to give them enough incentives or whatnot.

I'm not sure if it's the thin air, or how the stadium is positioned to where they get favorable wind drafts at every game, but I know that in any game that the Braves play there, the score can change very quickly. 5 runs are pretty much no guarantee of a win there.

So, guess this'll be Alabama's Future QB

Cooper Bateman

Strengths: Height, Arm, Accuracy, not left handed, not a runner (hey, it's Alabama, we don't do Spread), a name that carries alot of nickname possibilities: Sterling Cooper, Cooper Bateman Pryce Campbell, The Coop, Cooper "Feed me a Stray Cat" Bateman

Weaknesses: He's from Utah.

http://youtu.be/0Fj0uona3ho

Ok, first clip he throws 60 yards on a rope. Not too bad...

[FSU Fan]why aren't there shirtless pictures yet?[/FSU fan]
