Really enjoyed episode 1, Gods of the Arena was ok to me but it's nice to have this story line back finally. Can't hate on the new Spartacus, guy filled the role the best he could. It's just a very unfortunate event that happened and this is the best they can do.
edit - Saw the tribute at the end of the credits. Glad they did it.

Damn good premiere.
BUT I did feel a little strange the entire time. Not having Batiatus around, having the show taking place outside of the ludus, and finally continuing all the plotlines from a episode that aired 21 months ago was kind of weird, not gonna lie. Also, Liam as Spartacus will take some getting used to. Blood and Sand focused on Andy's face and reactions so much that it's hard not thinking what HE would've done, the cocky Spartacus smirk in particular.

The show is still thoroughly good. I wasn't disappointed, and my expectations were very high after seeing GotA.

I have more sympathy for Solonius Don't ever fuck with Batiatus......oh wait I shall watch the S2 premiere either later today or on Sunday |

Done watching the episode. Definitely will take some getting used to with Liam taking the reins, but I have good faith he'll do fine. As for the episode itself, I was very satisfied. Enough brutality and gratuitous sex to get me excited for the second season....which I may or may not watch depending on whether Encore will also air the episodes since I don't have Starz

I just kept clicking on it and trying and it worked. Is it not showing up at all or does it show up but when you type it gives no response. Because the problem I faced was the latter and i just kept trying until it worked.

Is this like 300 or Immortals?
Are there any gods in it like Zeus, etc? |

^ because you are a junior.
Anyway, I Enjoyed it. BUT...damn I wish they could get some more funding or something. Their ble/green screen work is shameful. Shit you just know HBO wouldn't have let happen. The shots of Rome made me cringe. Script felt verbose at times, but felt like it's going to be as good as ever. NEED MOAR GANNICUS (sp). |

You can watch it on Starz's website: http://www.starz.com/originals/spart.../#/episode-201

More like 300 than Immortals.
And no, there are no gods. The story is rather "realistic" (no supernatural elements that is).

I do agree that Liam doesn't look as fit as Andy.
The other problem that I have is that he isn't as intimidating either, his angry face is not as powerful, he has to work on that. Also, his voice is very raspy. There were times were I had to play an scene again with the volume up to be able to hear what he was saying. Half way through the episode I was thinking to myself that Liam is not as expressive as Andy, and then the woman dies and he starts crying and I was like "well, at least he can pull sadness effortlessly" |

Katrina Law, in the show and in that workout video. Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggggggg.
Enjoyable first episode, although I think the new guy isn't nearly as buff as Andy. Guy looks totally out of place compared to the bulging biceps on Crixus/Manu Bennet. I mean, even fucking Glaba looks like he could kick his ass, and Glaba is supposed to be a grade-A bitch Praetor. Can't wait to see Ashur, I love him and his portrayal of the character. So evil, so nuanced. I suppose it will be too much to expect Starz to put new episodes on their website to watch like episode 1. |

People commenting on Liam's physique, we have to remember that prior to filming Spartacus, he was playing a role that required him to lose a ton of weight. He had to gain back a lot of muscle mass and probably still hasn't had time to really refine it and get crazy ripped like the rest of the guys.
I'm sure are the season(s) progress, he'll get into pornstar shape like everyone else. Oh! Hello there, Heath Jones. :D

I don't see why Gannicus would side with Romans rather than with the slaves. I would say that Gannicus is most likely to do whatever Oenomaus does, even if that means sitting on the side lines and trying not get involved.
