As someone who hasn't been interested in Call of Duty since the original Modern Warfare, I have to say I'm intrigued with the Metal Gear Call of Duty Treyarch is cooking up. I read a preview here and it sounds like Treyarch wants to try some new things with the franchise:

Anyone else with PS Plus check out Awesomenauts? It's free, so I gave it a shot. It's basically a 2D action side scrolling DOTA type game. Had a fun time playing some games online last night.

It's not really similar to S&S at all except for being 2D. It's literally a 2D Dota.

5 on 5 battles, you have your home base you have to protect. There are defenses spread out on the map you have to bust through before getting to the main base. Little AI enemy dudes who spawn and help out in the battle too. You gain money from fighting and can purchase upgrades and abilities during the match.

The only limiting factor is I think there are only around 5 different characters to choose from. Dota 2 has, what, 100 heroes? I'm going to stick mainly to dota 2, but I'll mess around with this game from time to time.

And the first black ops had a really interesting and generally well done campaign. This isn't regurgitated shitty Infinity Ward pap, at least the first one wasn't, so I am optimistic. Plus, it's not like any other decent shooters are slated for the fall.

Yeah I downloaded it last night. Pretty fun, but like you said, character choice seems limited (which at this point is a good thing for me since I'm overwhelmed by the number of characters in Dota). Only tried one bot match though, but will dabble a bit more tonight.

Unfortunately that is a terrible thing in this instance since the financial outlook for the publisher is dismal at best so who knows if it will ever be updated.

You might be right, but I think it'd be weird to keep him totally out of the game considering how much focus usually goes to the single player franchise (or dynasty...w/e it's called). Unless there's a way to just make him unplayable for the first season.

That's true, but I don't think he had a contract at the time. The Falcons voided it, right? I think there was also a question of if he would ever be re-instated to the NFL. Does Vilma have to be re-instated (like Payton and Williams), or is he definitely just out for the year? I guess we'll see in a few months.
