Well, we could all start posting random memes to fill up 6 pages like gb or idle thumbs threads. I have always appreciated that wc threads don't boil down to that.

Just a joke. I thought he was serious to at first but as you listen you'll realize he just has an eccentric personality. He's fun to listen to. He really gets excited talking about all this.

Awesome show this week. Its so great listening to Jaffe talk about Twisted Metal with all the depth and strategy they've designed in. I agree with basically all the points he makes on multiplayer gaming and I'm really excited to pick up TM next month; it sounds like exactly the kind of game I'll love.

The reason I loved 1UP Yours so much was because the discussions would engage me so much that I would feel almost frustrated that I couldn't chime in. Weekend Confirmed hasn't really done that for me, but this week's episode kind of has.
Really good stuff so far. Always great to hear from Jaffe. |

Love Jaffe. Entertaining guy. I'm excited for Twisted Metal, will be there day one.
Anyway, Twisted Metal actually reminds me of (TPS) Mecha games like Armored Core. If you've listened to the podcast where they talk about "car combat" you can draw a lot of parallels. Surprised no one sees this. |

Might get hated on for this, and that's totally fine, but this podcast -- IMO -- is better without Jeff's constant pontificating and childlike euphoria that has hijacked its fair share of episodes. His absence this week gave the entire rest of the crew more room to breathe, and it showed in spades.
Jeff seems like a cool dude, and I'm sure he's super nice, but he constantly seems like he's either trying to a) show how funny he is, or b) show how smart he is. Gotta be honest, I don't think he and Garnett ever really click on air, even if they are super friends off the air. I haven't listened to this show in a while, but this was a great episode. This is what this show needs to do on a consistent basis. Garnett is a great host, he just needs to find the right combination around him. Awesome guests like Jaffe obviously don't hurt, either.

we should start including stuff like this. Anyway, I find it funny they didn't mention Resident Evil: Revelations in their RE6 talk. Just like every other discussion on the game that touches on "action vs horror". |

Makes sense to have a unified topic, great OP! Always love listening to this show.
Jaffe was a great guest. I seem to be on the opposite end of things as far as story in games and all that, but I could listen to the dude talk endlessly. McWhertor was pretty boring, but what are ya gonna do.

Jaffe's 'consoles and gaming handhelds will be replaced by iPad and Google Chrome' rant was just off the wall, especially in context of Garnett asking him his thoughts about the Vita.
Sure, eventually this will change.. but it is at least one new console generation away from happening. And yes the iPad is a great entertainment device.. but I am not looking forward to playing Twisted Metal on it.. at the same time the Vita would be the perfect platform for a Twisted Metal port. Apple is going to stay touch-only, they will never, ever cater to dedicated gamers. |

At least I hope that's what Jaffe said, I was sleep deprived and was listening to the show during sleep.. and parts of it seeped into my dream (I played Unit-13 but it had one-bullet-anywhere-on-the-body kills like Rainbow Six 1).. and I was hitchhiking and got picked up by a really old couple, but the guy turned out to be really into the Vita and let me try his.. and the thing was the size of an old Nokia phone. Really tiny.
blargh No Garnett in my dream. :( |

Only ~40 minutes into Jaffe episode and it's already one of the best ones in a long time. Jaffe really brings interesting discussion to the table and has intelligent things to say. He put out the "gameplay" vs. "immersion/story" dichotomy clearly and concisely in a second when most people can't even put it into words.

However, I also liked Brian L. and think Andrea is good on the show too, both of which are unpopular opinions so I guess I could be on my own with Jeff too. |

Pretty much everything but him is shit... It is a very over produced / over acted show. |

Great ep. Love Jaffe, very articulate and open minded.
Not a big fan of how much influence GAF seems to have over people in the industry these days. So many people have been referencing GAF whining on podcasts recently, I wish they wouldn't even consider pandering to the forum. |

Not to sound like a jerk, but seriously why does this bother people?
I can understand not wanting to hear it if there are children present, or on a TV show, or a movie, but this is a video game podcast with four friends/co-workers talking about their profession. It's loose and informal. It's not like Jaffe uses it to mask not being articulate, which I could understand having a beef with. Quite the opposite, he is very articulate. I never even notice him saying it because I'm usually into what he's discussing. It's just a word, and it doesn't distract from his point, and in this format, I honestly don't know how it could.

The fucking reason why it fucking bothers me it's because I fucking hate to hear someone saying fucking every 5 fucking seconds. The fucking guy can't come up with a fucking sentence without saying fucking, it's like if it's fucking impossible for him to avoid the unnecessary fucking swearing. The point is, it becomes extremely annoying. I can get rid off the "fucking" in the stuff that I posted above, and my point would still be clear. Why does he need to "emphasize" everything he says with the word fucking? It's annoying! |

^ Clearly there is a difference between just unedited talking as opposed to writing paragraphs that you can re-read and fix before submitting.
I'm in the same camp as CatridgeBlower, I mostly only notice him saying "fuck" when he himself points it out as he tries to reduce it. But then again, I think The Big Lebowski is a good movie. First episodes in many months and it was very enjoyable, but that's probably because Jaffe is one of the best video game persons you can have on your show. |
