reporting for mega-thread duty.
Didn't realize this was the Mega thread. Anyways, listend to the Jaffe episode and enjoyed. First episode in probably 4 months. Might try and get more regular with WC. Have dropped off the podcast wagon for awhile here... edit: aw man, Xav's leaving. Enjoyed him a lot on the show Best of luck to you Xav

Yeah, Leahy's departure was rather sudden. Did he get fired or something? Was their bad blood between him and Garnett? I'm surprised he hasn't even been back as a guest.

I believe Leahy now works for a web design firm.
He did a "correspondent" piece for Giant Bomb from Blizzcon last year about Star Craft II - Heart of the Swarm multi-player. |

I always wondered if he wasn't really "sick", or something went down. Like he did something that got him fired, or somehow Garnett didn't like him. So the hammer was thrown down. I'd absolutely love to know wtf actually happened there though. I've been tempted to tweet Leahy on twitter about it, but I doubt he'd ever actually respond.
PS: I actually miss B Leahy's side of things on a lot of topics. That's a different subject from what or why he left though.

Glad to see people grow an appreciation for Leahy. I've always disagreed with his opinions on matters, but god damn, did he have a lot of great observations to matters. He also created a great balance to the show.
Brian LEAHY! What's he gonna SAY-EE? On the Front PA-EEE-GE (of Giant Bomb). GG GB community. |

On the other hand, when Leahy announced his departure someone on twitter questioned him about a goodbye show or possible return to WC for an episode, where he basically responded "not going to happen." |

Iīm still sad about Leahy leaving. I thought the original cast was the perfect trifecta of people. Host Garnett, Happy Jeff 2N1T and Sceptical Brian. His PC and Street Fighter stories were always nice to listen to. He dissected the news very well too. Hopefully ThisYearCollection does a compilation episode in the future so I can reminisce.
After he left I started to dislike the show a bit. Recently I liked it a bit more but it is hit or miss for me. Last episode with Jaffe was a good one. Always nice to hear form developers on podcasts who donīt sound like corporate shills. Also best of luck to Xav in his future endeavors. |

Excited to see so many positive comments about the Jaffe episode. As I posted in the previous thread, I've kind of checked out on WC - but seeing the good buzz for this last one has me excited to check it out. Really hope it's the start of a return to form..
Although that optimism is tempered with the news of Xav leaving. Another great voice that will be missed. (They all say they'll be back as guests, but that hardly ever happens. Besides, doesn't Joystiq have a podcast of their own?) Regardless, best of luck to Xav. Definitely interesting times afoot in the games journalism business. |
